The question that I keep asking myself is how long will gold stay up at this spot price of over $2500 or is it going to go even higher after the rate cuts? But will the spot prices stay up after the rate cut in September? And precious metals is definitely a long-term investment. You don’t want to get into it thinking you’re gonna get rich quick. And I can’t wait for the next commander series going to come out. I am really looking forward to that.

The same can be said for stocks (bonds, mutual funds, futures, etc) where you have the buy and sell spreads (house has to make a profit either way). Family always comes first:)

I mainly buy slabbed American coins. Tonight, I sniped a 2023 morgan pcgs pf70 dcam for $85 shipped. I think the mint wants $96 for a raw one, so it's a no-brainer to me. I have bought quite a few this way, and I will keep buying them. Last week, I bought a 1/4 ounce and a 1/10th ounce American gold eagles. To me, it's better than hanging onto fiat.

Short answer... YES. IF it is obtained while not neglecting other investments and priorities. It is an investment of time, education, risk, and patience. I'm in year 25 of my 30-year plan. I treat my gold/silver as an investment, a hedge, a collection and storage. Homes are investments, obviously, and I once bought a home/property (brand new) for $178K and its value dropped to $150K in the first 2 yrs. For the next 20 yrs it went up/down in value greatly. Up to 500K and back down to 200K. I eventually sold it for $670K. We hope we can sell our investments when we want to rather than we have to. The possibility of silver being a superb investment over time I think is great…..but nobody is counting on that in my family.

THUMBS UP and welcome back, Stateside! Everyone needs to get in the mindset that this is not an investment... it's a hedge. In other words, " I'm not buying/stacking/collecting to get rich... I am doing it to stay rich!" This is a long term strategy! Don't think of this as buying. People are making the mistake of chasing spot price. This is not for buying.... it's exchanging! Just like when you travel, you exchange currencies, USD for what ever currency of that country. It is what it is at that time. Example, I have purchased metals/coins in other countries, we could have cared less what spot price was in the USD the deal was being made at spot in the currency of that nation. Also, premiums are just a service fee, remember you are getting the benefits of the supply chain from being found and dug up out of the ground, to being processed and stamped with something pretty, to your hand without you doing the work and that is a value we take for granted. In the long term, you should come out ahead! Remember, the only time you gain or lose... is when you buy or sell! Keep enjoying life! Semper Fi!

A reasonable definition of an investment is an asset that has better capital gain than the inflation rate and can reliably do that over time. Gold qualifies, silver does not.

Government Coins are more desirable. The safety features and undeniable proof of real silver/gold sells for higher premiums. Rounds and bars are about the same. Sell for less a premium, so you get more for your money. Are you buying to collect forever or are you buying to sell for a profit later? If you buy to sell later. Make sure you purchase popular sizes. Not many stackers want to specifically stack a 1 and half OZ coin/round. Get 1 OZ size if you decide to go with rounds. Most popular size for bars is 5 to 10 oz bars. Some rounds have higher premiums due to the mint. Germania ment makes some of the most amazing rounds for a higher premium. Even tho it's 1 oz of silver like anything else. Your paying for the look/brand. Not worth stacking to sell later but best to collect. I typically buy cheaper Silver since it's all the same. 1 oz of Silver. So I favor weight over Premium Silver.
