In Hawaii, they wrap a strip of metal bands, approx 1ft long, around trees to keep the rats from building their nests up above. The rats slip on the metal bands, and cannot get up into the tops of trees. Consider this method. Might help. Merry Christmas Time to You and YOURS!!!
