Just a thought, how about adding a fire hydrant attachment to your Bulk Water tank so in case of a house fire your fire brigade can have easy access to water if you have a house fire. My late Uncle in Hampshire put an outdoor swimming pool through the farm accounts as a static water tank in case of fire by attaching a fire hydrant to it.😊

Adrian you asked if something was wrong tell you…well from an electrical point of view all isolaters should be put within arms reach no more than 2m away from your item. If you ever had to work on the pump or ever had an issue with the pump you don’t want to be running around into a separate room looking for an isolater. Otherwise Massive fan look forward every week to tune into you👍

Run the conduit through the wall and then into the isolator switch on the wall above the pump

Easy fix, cut the wire and put another isolator beside the pump. Leave the existing one in place to turn off the pump from the parlour

Oh mate you are one hell of an all rounder. Great bit of electrical work there. I maybe wouldn’t have fed it from where you did but if that’s the only capacity you had and the feed is large enough to run both circuits and it has its own rcd l wouldn’t moan too much as it makes sense to take it from there. But the quality of your work is excellent. I’ve really enjoyed watching you do this job and to see the joy in your face now that you’ve broken the back of it is priceless. You have to spend time and energy to save time and energy and you need to get your feet up for an hour or two as a reward you Legend 👌🏻

Yes it has it own rcd and was the nearest capable power source so definitely won’t be any issue there. Cheers lad 👍

@@IFarmWeFarm The supply cable to the panel you took the power from should be changed to a larger cross sectional area . Either that or run dedicated supply to the pump. Just because it’s a power source does not mean it is suitable. You didn’t cross bond the motor to the bracket either . Isolator in the wrong position. When you work on the pump you will need to lock it in the off position because it is in a different room and out of sight. You shouldn’t be doing electrical work if you’re not qualified . If the parlour went on fire your not covered .

@@KD-ed3dti get everything checked and certified by a friend that’s qualified hence the reason you don’t actually ever see me make any electrical connections only running cables that he supplied. I mention this clearly in a previous video and the reasons why. Earth from motor to bracket was added along with a separate rcd on the board when he hooked it up. Isolation switch needs to be within 2meters of the motor which it is but we have added a switch similar to our milking machine and put the isolator on the other side above the pump. Being on KZbin makes you very self-aware and I don’t encourage anyone to take risks. Perhaps in this video i should have explained this better so I will going forward. I always appreciate the advise 👍

That’s a pragmatic solution with that statement about the rcd the jobs a good un. I am a sparks by the way and I’ve worked on a few farms because that’s all that’s really out in Suffolk 😂. Worked on quite a few Grain Driers in my time. And I have discovered some weird and wonderful installation’s and some that are just down right dangerous and a serious threat to life. I am going to give you the honour of being the finest Farmer/Sparks in the whole of Ireland 10 out of 10 Adrian, seriously professional especially with the containment from origin to load it’s so important especially in your kind of environment 👍🏻

Great investment have one for ever . I use all water in the parlour 3 times first it goes through the plate cooler then it does the machine rince and then out to the wash down tank along with the detergent water for the next milking . The detergent water makes washing down the units easier than just water.

Best thing we ever did was put a overhead pull switch in in the middle of the parlor so you dont have to run in and out to turn the pump on and off. Also add a hook at waist height to hook the nozzle onto (saves the old back)

Farmers here in the US sometimes get a bad reputation for making quick and dirty repairs that are not what a professional would do. Your work looks to me to be every bit as good as what you would expect from a professional plumber or electrician. I'm not an expert but have done similar repairs and upgrades around my own home and I think your work is top notch! That pump made a huge difference in the water pressure for the milking parlour. Hello Adrian, you c ould house a checkvalve before the pump, in combination a pressurevessel af ter the pump. When you house a bit water, the pump doesn't have to turn, and you hold your pressure better.

Fit a frost heater in the room with the pump and wrap the pipe in each direction with heat tracer tape. Both will keep the water going when frosty

Well done! Confidence is the name of the game. I was reading the comments; people sharing their ideas and experience is great feedback. The water tank as a reservoir, attached to a fire hydrant in the event of a House fire, God forbid, was, I thought, brilliant. I once lived in London. The London Fire Brigade had a TV ad warning of the dangers of cats knocking over candles leading to tragedy. Cats are drawn to naked flame like a moth. The other point that they made was the neighbour's cat came in through your open window to knock the candle. Moral of the story: Cats are bastards! :- )

For ur steel fabrication an evolution chop saw would be a great job. Far better than an angle grinder for cutting steel. TP blade that just last and the cuts are all square. Best £250 I spent

It’s funny you mentioned that, i had a makita chop saw for years up until a month ago when the motor burnt out. I have an evolution circular steel saw a got last year but just bought a Rotabroach chop saw to replace the other one this week. Haven’t used it yet

Cold cut blade as opposed to an abrasive disk like angle grinder, less heat and dust, cut is cold to touch immediately, cuts 3 times faster.......but blades are more expensive, well worth the money

You can get a pressure switch for top of pump so it starts and stops itself as you open and close nozzle on end of pipe.

Great video and editing. Lovely work you're doing. The leak might be the PTFE tape going on the wrong direction, easy fixed. Also, if you had to use the gun barrel, you could buy whats called barrel nipples, short pieces of pipe already threaded both ends, and you just cut them in half and weld them to the lengths of pipe you need to use. It's a bit slow but saves hiring a threading machine.

I have been using thread sealant rather than PFTE tape. Never had a leak since. I didn't like the Permatex stuff I got from a car parts retailer as while it worked, it was a bit thick nad gloopy and hence messy to use. The Loxseal Itap ROL075 from a pipe and engineers supplier is awesome. Faster than tape, never had a leak, can be disassemled later and is lested for gas like LPG, where a leak as a bit more major than a wet spot on the floor.

Great installation Adrian. Piping is 40mm blue mdpe . Better off not using flexible hose as it will corrode and will need replacing after a few years. Silage tape is a good idea on the self seal insulation as it will water proof and weather proof it somewhat and vermin less likely to nibble as they love the taste of the insulation. Love the attention to detail.Super tidy job.👏👌 Gotta be worth more than a fiver 😜😂

Instead of them white plastic clips that will crack and break,you could add in "Mupro" pipe clamps alongside some treaded bar for a much sturdier clip which can be set depending on distance from wall.

Great upgrade for the parlour, more efficient, saves time, what's not to like. Think your idea of linking up your pipes is a good one, make sure though you have a non returnable valve, it will stop any contamination from your tank water to mains. Re your cows and dirty feet have you thought about a foot bath, not sure what's needed though to have one or their expense. Just think how boring life would be if all the mistakes were edited out, thank god for U-tube. 👍

Local isolation is needed for your pump . Meaning if something goes wrong with it (God forbid) you can switch it off 'locally ' and not have to go around the buildings looking for the off switch .

I understand, i did add a separate breaker in the cooler box for it. I reason I did it this way was that it would be handier to turn it on and off with and milking. But I get what you mean for sure

Adrian, I would put the newly installed and insulated water pipe into a 3” (75mm) pvc (downpipe), because if a cat finds that insulation they will scratch at it and destroy it, also keep the weather off the insulation. Just a suggestion from some experience. Love the videos keep them going.

We have same kind of job done on our parlour ,i would highly recommend a plate cooler and use the warm water in a ibc to wash down hose brilliant for washing stubborn dirt, and nice to have on cold winter mornings. Keep it up👍

Hi Adrian, just watched your latest video & I watch them all, I am a retired plumbing heating & gas engineer over 40 years’ experience, your leaking thread, probably 30 years ago all male threads were tapered now they are all parallel threads :( I recommend for you to use a jointing compound on top of the ptfe tape, but you must use the right one, example Fernox Water Hawk (for potable water) or Fernox Hawk White (for non potable water) other makes available 😊

Put in a drop hose in front and rear of parlour instead of dragging a hose around parlour. Hang drop hose from over head line down to pit floor and that will do all washing and cleaning in parlour without the clutter.

Congrats, looks a great job. Might be worth hanging a hook/holder at the end of the parlour at hip hight to hold the hooze nozzle when not in use so you do not have to reach down too much and strain your back. Might be worth painting the parlour walls with a non stick parlour paint and help keep the walls clean as the new hooze tends to splatter more of the wall with water and muck.

A very good job indeed. If you are going to put outlets on the 'back wall' (the wall closest to the yard and the crush), which I presume the hose will connect to, would it perhaps be useful to have hose reel on the wall to wrap it up quickly when you've done? Having the hose trail you when you are washing up would make it easier and probably safer and then a quick crank of the reel to wrap it all up for the next day. I hope you understand what I mean and I hope that I've understood what you eventually intend to do do correctly.

Add some inner tube sheet under the pump to reduce vibrations and help the pump not rust out faster. Your sure up grading the farm for better efficiency.

Another great video Adrian I would put a drain on the pump for winter to drain the system just in case of frost damage to the casing of the pump should be a drain at the bottom of the casing probably 3/8 bsp also put a drain on the outside of the building just drain down in winter.
