Day Z does a great job at showing how much of a psychopath your average person would become in a survival scenario. Why does everyone become batshit crazy in that game?

I really dont think so. Im not saying there wouldnt be psychos irl but people act this way in game cause.. well you can respawn. Also sometimes I act like a psycho in dayz just cause I wanna scare other player ir make them laugh Irl the consequences are much bigger, I think most people would have pretty good reasons for however they decide to act in a crisis.

@@Jackfromshack I guess. But then everybody roleplays the same thing: A power obsessed psycho who robs everyone at gunpoint and makes them do and say weird things simply because they can. It's kinda boring if everyone ends up doing the same thing. Day Z reminds me of that Prison Experiment from the 80's. It reminds me that people go crazy when they have any kind of unchecked authority. Whether it's real life, an experiment, or a game.

@@zeropolicy7456 This type of behaviors causes the most views, isn't it? And the game itself encourage to "kill for loot" even before it turned into a battle royale genre and became mainstream. Personally, I haven't played the stand-alone version of DayZ, but I think there are enough friendly people in it, it's just that the jerks stand out more brightly.

@@Jackfromshack It just depends on the server. Bein a bat swinging psycho is often just mire relaxing cause serious interaction is.... exhausting. Bht I have over 2k hours and in that time I have met plenty of friendly people that J ran with. Idont think OP should equate a game where people just unwind after work to society irl.
