An online/virtual HermitCon as a baby step or experimental step would be easier and cheaper to set up and a great way to get an idea of what kinds of things fans would want to see (and what Hermits would want to organize). It's a disappointing half-step, but it's a great way to test the waters for ideas.

I watch a group of streamers that started a convention...they planned and prepared for about eight months each year. If you really wanted to do this, it takes a lot of money and time. Initial capital, venue, ticket prices, accommodation, vendors, merch booths, panels, meet and greets, food, etc. And they'd have to set something up financially as a group to help pay for something like this, not to mention that someone would have to be responsible for those funds, both incoming and outgoing. All of this would take away from video making time unless they were able to hire a team to take care of alllllll the logistics, and they could just show up as talent, do panels, play live from the floor, and take turns at autograph booths (which would be an absolute nightmare--it would be doable to have each con attendee pick two or three autograph sessions as part of the ticket to guarantee at least some autographs for each person.) Anyway--it would be best if the Hermits would just attach some meetups to a minecon or minefaire if they ever happen again.

@@_darcc For Anime Milwaukee during Lockdown, they completely recreated the convention center in Minecraft and hosted it online, and now they've done that server every year since. The Hermits could do something similar. I'd suggest they host a public server (or a few, considering the amount of fans there are), throw in a large, yet simple build per year that can be used as the main convention hall (with the old buildings being secondary events, or even little rides and such). I think it'd be feasible, especially since you could do panels and such using Twitch/KZbin, and actually be able to be with them in game.

Ok seriously, I also feel like something changed recently to make landing worse!! I feel like I used to land way harder without dying, and lately I'm exploding totems left and right!! I really hope we get live events again someday. I only got into Minecraft in 2020, so I've never gotten to meet any of my new friends in person!! It would be incredible if there were a HermitCon, but I'd agree, it'd have to be really well done. Gotta get the team for PAX unplugged tbh, they are solid

I’ve talked with fans about hermitcon before, I think it’s a good idea. I’m getting a degree in hospitality so one day I can properly think of it but I’m sure there are other hermit fans who also have degrees in hospitality who would be willing to help as well.

I think that would be ideal actually, as travel won't be a concern, and if it's a group effort they could easily build a huge event space in a few weeks.
