Should HORSE OWNERS learn how to TRIM? 🤷‍♀️ (or is it a SECRET?)🤫
Why keep hoof care hidden away? Some of the best hoof care pros we've seen were everyday owners who just wanted to make things better for horses.
Owners deserve access to good hoof care info.
Why keep hoof care a secret?
When the barefoot revolution started, owners wanted to know more because they'd been let down by pros before.
So they took matters into their own hands, eager for knowledge.
I believe if we want to raise hoof care standards and help horses, we need to give owners all the knowledge we can - because it all starts with the owners!

I always thought it was a secret. What got me trimming my own horses (2 mini mares and one gelded mini donkey) was I live in the middle of nowhere and a 'farrier' beat the shid out of my little donkey. I even thought he would attack me!! So, then looking for another farrier ran into the same mentality. Anyway, I got a cheap pair of nippers but, that wasn't working very well. So, I sprang for a 200$ pair of GE mini nippers. That was life changing. I am older now and used to ride (competitive in HJ and Dressage and even Western styles) However, I have always leaned into the barefoot way. Anyway, your vids have helped me a lot along my hoof trimming journey 🥰

So sad you had a dreadful experience, but so glad that you took control yourself 💪

So true! I was so gullible and fed my equines supplements and bagged feeds on a fear basis but I didn't realize that. I LOVE the track system plans and have started implementing my own. I think I am a little too old to start trimming myself but would really like to do it, though. Thanks to you and Garry for sharing your thoughts and education. Farrier is coming tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if he will be willing to try trimming the Phoenix Way. My equines have been barefoot for years. I have just finished the 15 day challenge and every horse owner should at least do that.

I was wondering, can you by any chance recommend a mash hay replacer? As in an actual product? Like you say, these companies say all this stuff and I don’t actually know what is and isn’t suitable!

It's difficult to recommend anyone really. Chaffs, crushed/rolled oats are one answer.
