Being a Catholic, and therefore a Christian, I agree with you completely, but allow me to clarify the Crusades, an event rather discussed and put in a bad light by Freemasonry and anti-religious authorities in the 1700s and 1800s. The Crusades were born to defend the Holy Land from those who did not allow pilgrims to access pilgrimage destinations such as the Holy Sepulchre. And the crusaders fought for it. Crusader soldiers have always had clemency for the enemies and they only killed people in battles that risked bringing the situation back to the way it was. So I think we should not condemn the work of the Crusades because it allowed pilgrims to access the places where the savior lived. We have to distinguish between the Old Testament and the New Testament Law when dealing with Apostates. The O.T. Law was given to a Theocratic society called the Jews. The entirety of the Law governed that theocratic society (Jewish people) and was given as a Type and Shadow. In the New Covenant, the reality of the O.T. Apostates Law is NOW governed by elders via Church discipline, if one who formerly believed the Gospel and then suddenly rejects the Gospel through word or deed. The elders are in authority to determine if one is to be placed outside the church (1 Corinthians 5) and if one is allowed back in (2 Corinthians 1). These keys (Matthew 16:19) are given from Christ to the Apostles and from the Apostles to church pastors/bishops/elders today. Christians are called to have fellowship with Christians (2 Corinthians 6) and to live according to the commands in the New Testament out of gratitude for all that Jesus has done. These new commandments given in light of the Gospel are called the Law of Christ. No where in the N.T. are Christians called to murder or kill apostates.

I love the water analogy! as i processed what you were saying i went a step further and thought about what we do with contaminated water in order to make it clean enough to safely drink. we PURIFY it through a FILTRATION process. We are all that cup of water. The spec(s) of contaminants are sins. we need to be filtered and purified. That is the process of being reborn. Jesus told Nicodemus we must be reborn to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus also told us that He is the Living Water. What is Living Water? Water that gives life. Water that is perfectly pure, free of contaminants. the water in your analogy contained only one spec of poop and we agree that one spec was enough to 'or naw' on the whole cup because there was enough threat of sickness, and even death, if we were to ingest it without clearing out the contaminant. Thank God for Jesus bc even though I have a filtration system in my house that filters even my toilet water, how can i be 100% sure that every single contaminant is out. I can't. I've invested in making sure to the best of my ability that my household water is clean enough to drink but is it pure? i doubt it. The same with myself. try as i might, sin is present in my life, every single day, known and unknown. there is no way i can be sure that i am without sin if i am going about it while leaning on my own understanding. but then there is Jesus. Jesus said he is The Way and the way he taught us is to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. How do we get baptized in the Holy Spirit? Water, Living Water to be more specific. So, while we are all the contaminated water in the analogy i see it quite literally and, to me, that's what makes what you said so perfect! we can all try and filter out sin and do our best to be pure but we cannot dispute that one spec of the right contaminant can spoil the whole thing. we can only be sure of purity through Jesus; the Way, the Truth, the Life, the Living Water which is Jesus.

I want you to know that I discovered you tonight or… this morning as it is 1:20 am Saturday morning and I’m about to go to bed… I have been a lifelong Christian, but by no means am I a “good” Christian as I haven’t been to church in years and I am a sinner.
