Hello Kilted Wanderer - Though my Scottish paternal ancestors came to 🇨🇦 from Berwickshire - I’m fascinated by other areas of Scotland as well. We actually have a town named Ayr here in Ontario 🇨🇦 It was a namesake of yours. There were many Scottish folk who came here and there are still Highland Games held every summer in various communities. Appreciate your video. Slainte! 💙🏴💙

Hi Jane, its always nice to hear from around the world, Canada and Scotland are kindred spirits and you are held in high regard here. Im glad you enjoy my videos they are always a bit hit or miss, but i like it that way, we cant film Oban and Edinburgh all the time, some of the unknown places deserve a shot, cheers g.

@@thekiltedcyclist4698 Thank you for your kind words about Canada. Many Scottish folks established farming communities here as well as villages and towns. I agree with you about doing stories on the perhaps lesser known areas of the Homeland. My surname is my late husband’s. My paternal Scottish names were Cockburn/Coburn plus Fair and Paton. I’m very proud of my ancestors and am glad they passed their fighting spirit down to me. Have a great weekend! Cheers!

Spent several days there in May this year. Wanted to do some family research but the Dick was closed for some renovations. Did make it to the Dean castle, well worth it. Would like to go again sometime. It’s a long way from Wa, USA, and at 75 it may be just a dream. Did enjoy your video, showed a lot of things I missed.

You missed out the Dean Castle where Margaret Tudor (James IV's spouse) lived at one time. Also missed the Burns Monument in the Kay Park; although the monument itself isn't what it used to be having been burned down by some yobs in the 1990s.

That is of course true, the Kilmarnock edition of his book is known wordwide, but almost every town i film has a Rabbie connection, that boy must have travelled a bit, thanks for watching. Cheers g.
