Boston terriers were never on our radar. Just so happens that one night when we were all asleep one managed to get into our backyard and was scratching at the fence, it woke my daughter 15-year-old daughter up, and she didn’t know what to do with him so she brought them in the house for the night, and I had a sleepover. So the next day while I was already gone to work on aware, my wife woke up to this surprise, she decided he couldn’t have gone far and let him go so he could find his owners, she said he came back within 10 minutes and was scratching at the door and crying to get in, so we boarded him in our laundry room while we were at work in school for the day, put up fliers around the neighborhood that afternoon, and his rightful owner contacted us that night, and Winston was returned. Long story short, within the 10 hours we had that dog we fell in love with him, and decided we had to have one, so we made Penny our family Christmas present five months later! Can’t imagine life without a Boston now!

I have had five different dog breeds in my life and loved them all, but until my Boston, Mollie, I have never LOVED a dog so much. She is my fourth child. Boston's have more personality, intelligence, and love than any dog I've ever known. I am sold and a Boston owner for life. You will never be sorry if you get a Boston. Just feed a high quality, low grain food like we do and your dog will barely ever fart and it won't smell at all. So if you are on the fence, go for it.

I've wanted a Boston for years and now it's the right time. My partner showed me a pup this morning and to cut a long story short, we pick up our first Boston in just over a month! Their mischievous nature always makes me laugh, they are great little characters and watching some of these videos only confirms we have made the right decision.

Over the years I have had 5 Bostons. Grew up with collies, shepherds, rescues - big dogs. Then my job got demanding......needed to find an office people, (everybody) friendly quiet patient like to be inside with you pal! I was so nervous but Bostons came into my life and the perfect dog for work or anywhere with any one has been a dream come true. Contrary to online "hyper" descriptions all 5 have been mellow go with the flow, love children, playing ball, frizbee, swimming and boogie boarding......excellent retrievers not hyper just tons of fun. They have all been to "school" 3 out of 5 have been best in class. They are and have been the best companions ever, they do not need leashes except for social safety, always with you and at your feet....bit if a tripping hazard.....but they are always by your side!

My Boston Terrier is 4 years old. His name is Guido and he's my best friend. Got him at 9 weeks old and has the most incredible personality I've ever seen. He does have very bad separation anxiety but we've been together 24/7 for past 3 years due to being homeless. I lost my 17 year old German shepherd on December 30th which destroyed me but she was all that Guido knew and they were inseparable. Dogs truly grieve and it breaks my heart. I've been giving him extra attention and he sleeps with me even in the backseat of my truck under the blanket behind my knees like clockwork. I'm a permanently disabled domestic violence victim and have been homeless for so long due to everything that was done legally was done against federal law so I've been fighting it this entire time and have no support system since all of my family has passed away. Guido has been the best dog going through all of this and doesn't mind sitting in my truck all day and night which is where we're living unfortunately. I do take him to the dog park and let him out to play of course but he always wants to be with me. I just took him up the vet for his shots and the vet said that I've done very well caring for him in my situation and he's in perfect health and truly happy. Everywhere we go people fall in love with him which is so easy to do. You talking about the heat really helped because I know how dangerous it is which is why i have to run my truck during the day for a/c so he doesn't overheat. Thankfully it's a diesel but from running so much it needs work. Do you have any recommendations for people who end up homeless with their Boston? I refuse to give him away or ever let him out of my sight but any advice would be appreciated. He eats before I do and never goes without. I even plugged an inverter into my truck with a heating pad then put a blanket over him which keeps him warm through the winter (Colorado) and he loves that thing so much even just to keep his nose warm. Wish I could post pictures on here but thinking about making a KZbin channel to give ideas for homeless with dogs that I've been able to come up with. Thank you so much for your advice and your girl is gorgeous 😍

We had a rescue Boston for eight years and would not even consider another dog. I do not think he ever knew he had a missing back leg. He had some minor surgery on his front paw on the same side, and he ran around on two legs on the same side of his body for two days. He is gone, and we now have another. No dog could replace our first Boston, but this one is pretty close. We missed a snoring dog in the house and having a little comedian in a tuxedo running around. We are again enjoying this fantastic breed and laughing every day.

Hi Donnie, I just got my 1st Boston on Monday May 31, 2021 - I found you videos on you tube and watched a lot of them before I decided to get a Boston. I had felt with a lot of scammers & fake adds. I finally posted a want add for a Boston puppy and got Roscoe. He is a super cute, black & white Boston with black freckles. Thank you for your videos, you made me see why I should get a Boston. I have always had large dogs, Boxers, since I got Roscoe, I have been laughing every day and have enjoyed Roscoe non-stop. Your videos are great! Thank you!

You've got a good sized Boston. Mine must have been the runt of the litter, because his max weight has been no more than 17 pounds and he's 7 now. He definitely has every Boston trait, especially the gas that no one in your video mentioned, but he's still just a little fellah. He's a great dog anyway, no matter his size or his odor. My last Boston was a few pounds bigger, but just as playful, friendly, and stinky. They are all great.

I have one Boston Terrier left, Dexter and he took on some of his predecessors (Sparky) traits which have been mentioned here already. I became attached to the breed when the woman I am now with introduced me to hers. I should say he introduced him self to me by jumping into my lap at her home in WV. He was with us for 14 years and we got Dexter as companion to Sparky. I have not been able to go or do any type of activity without either being at my side or in next to me. If your in need of a companion around or in the house get a Boston. Don't leave them outside in Cold climates as they want the warmth of inside. .

Rescuing My Sweet Boston Georgia, It was not easy but soooo worth it!!! I wasn't planning on getting a Boston 3 and a half years ago (even though I always wanted one and think they are the cutest dogs ever) but I struggle with some serious health issues so walking an energetic dog regularly was not ideal, so 12 years ago I chose a tiny tea cup Chihuahua "Mama" ( who just passed away a few weeks ago... :-(((((( ) But 3 and a half years ago I had to step in and rescue a 2 year old Boston who was in a horrific situation. She had been abandoned/surrendered 3 times in her 2 short years, was clearly abused and her present situation was dire. I found out that she had been left alone day and night in a filthy apt for several months with only occasional feedings, so she was extremely skinny, no longer house broken, extremely terrified and aggressive towards other animals and terrified of people, especially men and had severe separation anxiety and PTSD. This is NOT typical of this breed but abuse and neglect does terrible things. I knew I couldn't keep her because I feared for my tiny Chihuahua's life and my 2 rescue cats because she was not socialized and was aggressive towards them, not to mention the terrible mess she made anywhere and everywhere, partly from nerves and gastro problems. The poor baby was a hot mess!! It was not fun for anyone. My family begged me to surrender her because the situation was extremely stressful and dangerous for everyone but I knew her chances of finding a safe and loving home was next to impossible due to her physical and behavioural issues and I was so afraid of where she may end up. And just when I was at the end of my rope I looked into those terrified little eyes begging me not to give up on her and I knew I had to find a way to make this work. It was a few months of sheer hell yet, slowly but surely as she gained her confidence back, she got better and it was clear she just wanted to make me happy and needed to be loved. I poured a ton of love, patience, affection, training, snuggles, kisses, treats and healthy food at her and she transformed into a little black and white adorable miracle!! She no longer wets the bed which she did constantly but she still has night terrors though less and less. She soon fell in love with my little snappy brindle Chihuahua and even protected her which was a miracle considering how bad it was at first!! She now does great with the two cats and even plays and snuggles with them. She is so loving and trusting....even after her first 2 years of hell. She's so licky, snuggly, snorty, zoomy, loving, playful, goofy, protective and so funny!!! She even tells me off sometimes which is hilarious!! I don't know what I would do without her!! Our only issue is her aggression towards other dogs on the leash which is a lingering issue from her abusive past, I think she may have been attacked on the leash. But slowly she's coming around. Her number 1 aim is making me happy and she tries so hard every day!! She knows when her Mom is not feeling well and she is content to snuggle up under the blankets for hours and watch movies like a couch potato! And when I'm feeling well she LOVES playing fetch with her favourite ball for hours and zipping around the neighbourhood like she owns the joint!! She is such an awesome dog!! Both of us are really feeling the grief of losing "Mama." Georgia still looks for her and seems so sad and out of sorts but we're managing together. How she is today is a testament to how amazing the breed is, she has come so far having been through so much abuse!! I couldn't be more proud of her!!! I really encourage people to rescue if possible. It may be a bit more work at first but there are so many great dogs in need of a safe, loving home and they will spend the rest of their lives thanking you for picking them!! She's my best friend and I couldn't love her anymore!!!! Bostons ROCK!!!! Proud Boston Mom!!

So after a lot of reading and watching videos- I don't know ... but after watching this video I am seriously considering getting a Boston terrier!

The reason I was looking into the Boston terrier is because I absolutely love boxers and I think I'll always own one, but I also wanted a smaller dog as two big ones is a little much. Basically I'm looking for a mini boxer. A small dog with the same cheeky personality, expressive facial features and soulful eyes, goofball that loves to cuddle and is low maintenance. So I guess I should ask, am I on the right path, is a Boston all these thing?

Hi there , I like your videos , very educative . I am getting a Boston terrier next month from a reputable breeder here in Florida . He born may 20 and we are excited to have him . I never had a Boston terrier before . He is white and red , beautiful color . I had a pit bull mix which pass last December 2019 of old age ( 14 yrs old). We are devastating . My son is 9 yrs old and love animals like me . He is very lonely inside the house during this pandemic and I’m a nurse and I am working In the frontline and I don’t have much time with him . The reason I chose a Boston , is because how low maintenance they are and very affectionate . We need tgat . My son need a friend and companion and so do I . Honestly has been awhile since we had a puppy and I need to learn to potty train and teach the puppy . My husband is terrified about . I know we can do it . I miss have some fun and joy inside the house . Which best food should I feed him ?? Should I let him on the crate with pee pee pad ? I heard is not a good idea because they get used too . It is better take him outside every time they eat , after nap , okay etc, etc .... anyway I would like some tips . Thank you and I appreciate .

How exciting! I think a Boston will be a perfect companion for your son. As for the food I would ask the breeder you’re getting your Boston from. They will be able to give you a better idea of what food type is working for your Boston parents. As for crate training and P pads I think taking it out is a much better idea. However you need to balance the time that takes with the time you have available. I do not think it’s going to harm your Boston by having P pads in the crate but it will make your house smell better in the long run you’ll have a better train Boston if you always take it outside. I hope that answers your question.

Boston Terrier Society thank you so much for the feedback I appreciate . I asked the breeder what type puppy food she feed him and she told me is Purina puppy food which I don’t like this brand . Purine has grain in it and is not a good quality on my opinion . I will start him o blue buffalo chicken or salmon when I bring him home just like you mentioned. Thank you

There around 3500 dollars around my way. I found a Boston. She's 4 weeks old from a breeder. And we are picking her up on June 8. Very excited!!!

I personally don’t have pet insurance for Bella. Here is an article I put together covering all the costs. Scroll to the bottom for my recommendation of Pet Assure. It is a savings plan rather than insurance you get 25% off on a number of vet items. But the article explains the cost for Boston Terriers with other insurance as well. I hope this helps. www.bostonterriersociety.com/boston-terrier-pet-insurance-cost/

Great channel. We rescued a 3-4 yr male Boston terrier a month ago. Any thoughts on how to prevent marking inside the house? Our BT was neutered and read this will reduce the marking desire but have not seen much improvement. We have him wear a diaper wrap inside the house. Thanks.

Maybe look into box training? It works wonders for some. Slowly give her more and more space, only after it has learned that the area belongs to the no pee zone. But for some rescued dogs it takes longer to get used to the box. A lot of them don't get to go on walks, so they don't keep their living space clean except their sleeping space.

I’m going to have a trainer on the channel to talk about tips on dealing with separation anxiety. I have had a lot of boston owner tell me they have had their dog suffer with it. I think if you start some training classes as soon as you get your Boston and have them go over some sort of anxiety skills that you can learn you will be fine.

Hi! I just want to say I adore my STICH-IANNA...hahaha (yes, she's as mischievous as the character on Disney). She is the most wonderful dog I've ever had. She gets on very well with my Tabby cat, Frankie; I really love how they play together. On another note, I am trying to reduce her shedding. It's not terrible, but I do have to clean sofas every single day. I've changed her diet and have now added olive oil to it. It seems to be working, but do you have any other recommendations vis-a-vis shedding? I'd really appreciate some useful tips. Thanks!

I like the flat faced breeds. Love Boxers but don't want that big of a dog right now. Looked into Pugs but the shedding and difficult house training won't work for me. Frenchies are too expensive and seem very strange in behavior. I like most of what I've heard about Boston Terriers so far. I've only ever been around one and he was so nice even the first time we met. I haven't seen one in a long time though. Maybe they are more popular on the East coast closer to the city that was named after them.

I had a mini snauzer that graced my family's life for 15 years. She was an awsome little dog. The one thing that could not be ignored was the grooming every 2 or 3 months. Not having the skills myself, I would pay to have her groomed. This can sure add up, but it's very important part of owning a snauzer. Goodluck on your decision 🇨🇦😁 P.s. her health was excellent, and we fed her high quality food. Had a couple of teeth extracted at 12 yrs. Great companion ❤️

Would Boston Terrier be a good first dog for someone with fear of dogs? And how much would a puppy cost?
@BostonTerrierSociety
@BostonTerrierSociety 3 жыл бұрын
That is a really tough question about someone with fear of dogs. They are a very compassionate breed. But you’ll really need to play with a Boston puppy before making a decision. As for cost, if you’re purchasing from a breeder it could cost around $1,500

@@BostonTerrierSociety Thank you. I'm not sure I'll get a chance to play with one before getting a puppy. Yes I think so. The grooming needs of a Boston will take no more than 25 minutes a month. You will need to walk your Boston every day for at least 30 minutes. And you’ll need to feed it in the morning and then again in the afternoon. I think this is some thing and 11-year-old absolutely can do.
