As an American woman who has lived in Mexico for almost a year, I find Mexico safe and the men much more respectful and helpful. Your Spanish is also better than mine. Also why should your dream be finished because you are alone. It is really easy to make friends with other ex-pats here and you have an advantage in having a car. You know not to go out alone at night and follow your instincts. I loved watching the video from a female point of view. Loved the yarn store, there are no other people doing any knitting or crocheting videos from Mexico in English and I have looked! Just follow your heart and listen to your head. Whatever you decide there are many people keeping you in their thoughts and sending out good vibes.

Also, as someone who did give up on her dreams, be careful if you go back without really wanting to go back-it’s much more likely that you’ll end-up tied down there in one way or another. Besides, you never know who you’ll meet or what opportunities may come your way provided you stay. It’s much more likely that you’ll end up with a life that aligns with your ideals and desires if you live where you want to & pursue what it is you are passionate about, wherever and whatever that is. Ultimately, I can tell you firsthand that regret is a terrible thing.

Maddie, you are a strong, intelligent person and you would do great in whatever you do, including staying in Mexico and continuing with your own videos. When we first started following Tangerine Travels, my wife used to say that you “have an angel”, in Spanish; “Tiene angel”. This means that you are a charismatic person and will do great, no matter what.

In my experience, making a life changing decision such as moving after a breakup, is best put on the back burner until you settle into yourself. The US is always here for you, but I'm guessing that more life experiences await you there in Queretaro. Filling the empty hole with what you contain inside after a close relationship ends, takes time and is empowering, (no matter where you are). Wishing you well & I love the crafting. Your humor is coming through the mundane, and it is refreshing.

Agree with you Susanne. This is a huge shift in your life Maddie. You will know if and when the time is right to make the next move. I divorced after 34 years of marriage and spent the 1st year doing things on my own and getting to know me. You may be surprised as to what resurfaces. My vote - Settle in and do life for awhile. I think you are an inspiration to many in this chapter of your life and someone needs to hear it.

It is so weird feeling to be alone after being coupled up for so long but everything changes, including the weirdness and you'll find yourself, your passions and strength and will learn to enjoy your own company. After my divorce I started traveling the world on my own, including extensive travel in Mexico. I absolutely love it!! I don't say no to traveling with others and sometimes it would be nice to share a spectacular view or moment with a special person but overall I feel so incredibly free to do what I want, when I want, where I want. I so appreciate your vulnerability, breakups really are heart wrenching and head spinning and the fact that you're sharing really does resonate with so many people.

When I get confused/overwhelmed it is my best move to stay put and just pay attention to the voice of the universe. If there is a clear path in any direction it will reveal itself. Guard your health, mental, physical, and spiritual. You are a smart woman who knows her own mind--honor that and pray for protection. We're all cheering for BOTH of you to find your way!!!

Yours was one of the sites I watched that gave me the confidence to move to Querétaro at this stage in my life. I am 69 years young and don’t have a support system here, yet. But gradually I am meeting people who I know I can count on in an emergency. I have never felt unsafe, even walking my dog after dark .I also have two cats- and gradually this is beginning to feel like home.

Hi Maddy! In my opinion, your first solo blog is a great success. You appeared calm and had a plan of what you wanted to accomplish. From the audience perspective, you did well. Great job Maddie! It is not easy being single anywhere when you haven't been so for many years. Give yourself a minimum of six months before making any decisions to move. Keep pushing yourself to go out like you did in this video and it will get easier. Maybe join a class or activity of some kind to give you the opportunity to meet new people. I enjoyed seeing the plants you chose and the pots. I also enjoyed seeing the yarn store (I would go crazy in there too 😉). It is nice to see the different types of stores and the prices. All I can say is keep it up, I will be supporting you!

Hey Maddie! I actually really appreciated this video. I live in Querétaro too, and it's nice to see another woman taking about doing just regular everyday things here and what it's like for you. For example, I was thinking about taking up crocheting, but didn't know about that awesome store! Also, I love Mercado de las Flores too! It's just so nice to be inside there. But you're absolutely right, the pots are actually expensive! And I completely empathize on the driving issue. I find driving in Querétaro to be pretty darn confusing sometimes, especially the highways where you have the main road, a road going along beside it, and then many offs and ons, and also roads that go up above and down below. Not to mention people cutting in and doing whatever they want, stopping inside of the roundabouts, etc, etc. So different from the straightforward driving of the Midwest of the USA 😂 Great video. Take your time figuring out your next steps, don't rush! It will come to you.

@@susanaramirez1335 I agree it would be nice to know more women in the area. But I didn't want to be creepy or anything! I'm also in a bit of a different chapter of my life, I have a 3 month old baby and getting the hang of being a new mom. But I would for sure be open to the idea. Especially if she ever needed anything while she's here. I (along with my husband who knows more people in Mexico) would always be open to meeting and/or helping with anything.

Maddie, I completely enjoyed your video! You have such a soothing voice and you’re a pro at filming (even when you’re dropping sushi)! I think you’re very happy in Mexico, but your emotions are all over the place due to the breakup. Wait a while, don’t make any big decisions now. I’ve read that when one goes through a trauma (such as death, breakup, etc.), you should wait a good while before big decisions, I know you don’t want to be lonely, I understand, but give yourself time to adjust. Also, when you’re filming, be aware of your surroundings. I notice that you love the camera (and it loves you) but don’t let it keep you from being cognizant of what’s around you. You are so much better than you think you are. I’ll be honest and say that I really like that you can talk freely without being interrupted and you can express your own opinions more freely. Just give it time before deciding anything, keep your chin up and you’ll be fine. You’re a lovely and charming young woman; you can do anything you set your mind to. Best wishes!!!

By the way, the simple day to day things that you are including (like you crocheting) makes living in Mexico more relatable. Like knowing that there are very real ways an American can fit in and adapt. I like that you are sharing the down to earth activities you are dealing with. Living situations, shopping, cooking, cleaning, being lonely, even fears, and how to find help, churches, counseling, schools, libraries. All the things of real day to day life. Travel is nice but most don’t travel all the time so the nitty are gritty is helpful and refreshing.

Maddie…I love that you’ve included us in your new life. You are so precious and I love that you are taking us on this journey with you. I think you should remain where you are in Mexico but please find an expat group to align with. Hopefully you will find your “new tribe” to give you the social outlet you need. You are absolutely adorable and I think there are expats who would “line up” to have you as a part of their group. This will give you the feeling of connectedness you’ll need as you settle into your new reality. Love the crafts but want to encourage you to not let that become your escape. You are beautiful…young and free to design whatever reality you wish. Do not settle for anything/anyone who does not share your vision. Warmest wishes and loads of hugs to you…Carol P.S. health care costs are outrageous in the US…stay where you can get good medical care that will not devastate your financial health!

You always came across to me as being fearless. You moved to Mexico, drove around the country and along the way fearlessly opened up and shared many things others would not have had the courage to share. After so many years doing things together you need practice being single. You should stay or go depending on what you want, but make the decision from strength. Love that you are talking about plants, pots, and crocheting. I myself recently started making blankets with the thicker yarn and bigger hook. Took some getting used to it. The flow of my work was just not the same. Had to laugh when you ripped out all your work. Been there done that!

Hi, great vid, I loved it. It has a quality to it like none of your other vids before. Don't mistaken what I'm saying, I enjoyed the vids you guys did as a couple, but I also see the potential in the vids that each of you will do now. I encourage you to stay in Mexico as long as it feels right and safe for you. Please continue making this type of vid. The energy and the openness of this vid is very refreshing and again, it's unlike anything I've seen before from you or anyone else. And yeah the crocheting was cool. Overall a very good vid, thank you.

I’ve been happily married for 40 years now, and I still love solo days. I need them for my mental health. I love that you’re incorporating crafts into your channel. That’s the other way I stay healthy both physically and mentally. I’m often crocheting as I watch your Saturday uploads. TFS! 🌺🌺🇨🇦

I have lived alone after being a widower for 8 years, you have to learn to live alone, to later be able to live with someone, you are young and have a long life ahead of you, you can have a new partner of course if you propose it!!

I love seeing more of your personality and daily activities. I love handcrafts too. The older videos seemed to mainly feature lots of cafes and restaurants rather than daily life. Day to day activities and interacting with people is interesting to watch. Yarn addiction is very real so beware! Also maybe take a pottery or ceramics course?

I love crafting, knitting, etc., so more, please! I find knitting to be rather therapeutic and fun. My sister & I took a ribbon embroidery class in Mexico once and I'd like to get back into it. Regarding whether you should stay in Queretaro or go back to the US, my tip to you would be (not that you're asking me, lol) to make a list of pros and cons see which outweighs the other. Good luck and take care of yourself. P.S. I think you were looking for the word "skein" instead of spool of yarn. : )

I love that yarn store! Your blanket is going to be beautiful Maddie! I was with my first husband from the time I was 16 until 31! When we divorced I thought I was going to die! It was the most difficult time of my life. I went to the movies alone for the first time in my life. It was not as bad as I thought. I grew a lot during the two years I was alone. The universe sent me my second husband and we’ve have been together 18 years now. There is something to be said FOR BEING ALONE! You got this girl.

Thanks for this video and your usual real-life honest perspective. It's a huge adjustment to go from coupled to single at any stage of life. I have been single a lot of my adult life and while I would love to be with the right partner, there are hidden riches to the single life that aren't talked about much...a grand adventure in courage and resilience, and in self discovery. May you enjoy the journey....and listen as always to your heart, your inner guidance, not the opinions of others. You've got this!

It is good to see you out and doing things solo. Please don't go back to the US! While this time in your life is difficult, you will find each day gets a little easier. Soon, you will be heading out on your own and wondering why you were nervous about doing so. Your videos have inspired me to step out of my own comfort zone and make traveling South America my goal. Thank you for continuing to share your life with us through these videos. I look forward to the weekend, just so I can see your next adventure! ¡Hola Maddie! Wherever you go, there you are; whether you are there with another person or by yourself. I love traveling and exploring alone as opportunities to have interesting conversations with people present themselves more often, it seems to be an organic thing that just happens. I would love to see you feel free, confident and comfortable in your own skin and just dive in; you have the power within yourself to do this; LOVE yourself and be your own best friend. As you know in México when you speak español people love your effort, and the more you speak the better you become. Go for it Chica!
