Should I Quit Raising Rabbits?

Make sure thier cage is big enough, Twice as long as the rabbit when it is fully stretched out, wide enough for the rabbit to fully stretch out without touching either side and tall enough for the rabbit to stand up without its ears touching the top of the cage. If they dont have the room they need they wont move much. And if they do have the room they will make a sleeping area and a food and bathroom area. Rabbits need a lot of space to run and play, so the cage should be used in conjunction with a runaround space. Hope this helps.

I think having 2 buck and a doe in one cage is causing the pee spray. Maybe separate the younger one into the old hutch.

You know what. That might actually be a great idea. I'm not sure if I mentioned the ages in the video but I recalculated Castors age. He's actually just 5.5 months old. So he's still maturing. Once I have things more cleaned up I'll move the old hutch somewhere better and then I can move him.

@cluelessbushcraft the younger buck is trying to show dominance by marking everything. Multiple doe will be fine in a group cage but only 1 buck to a group cage or they will pee everywhere.

Quail is what was easiest for me to raise. I made them a cage and kept them outside. You only need one male, and with one male there should not be too many issues if he has access to more than a few females. Agreed on the rabbits. They were hard to raise in MN. Really enjoying seeing your journey.

I'm with you on the quail. They are just to small / you need to many to produce a good chunk of meat. As for the rabbits , I keep 6 and produce around 50 per year. once the smell is on the wood they tend to keep returning to the same spot. Seems like you know most of the basics already. Some thing that works for me when I have two messy rabbits is to clean the cages and switch the positions. Its not fool proof but often works - of course if you get a rabbit that insists on being messy you know what to do.

Rabbits are grazing animals they do eat a lot of grass or hey Timothy Hay will be the best for them and the also like to pee and poop while they graze so you might need to install a hay box away from their nesting box into the open area

We use to raise rabbit you might need to move him to another cage two males next to each other not good that's why he is spraying all over
