@@coralinealgae This card is still useless. It costs 71% more than the 3080 (sometimes it's 100% more, mind you) but only has 2-10% in performance gains in gaming. And in 3D applications (my professional area) it's also useless *exactly because of the 50% less VRAM than the 3090%*.

@@madd5 ok, so Nvidia released a card advertising an MSRP of 700 and it gets scalped. Now they are releasing basically the same card for 1200 dollars, which is also going to be scalped. And you don't at all see an issue with that? Either Nvidia should have sold the 3080 at a higher price, or should've lowered the price on this. Like, yea, MSRP means nothing now once the cards are scalped but that's such a stupid argument for increasing the price even more. And no, not everyone is buying those cards. Only people who can afford to spend three times a cards worth are buying cards right now, which is why MSRP is actually fucking important. Most people are forgoing buying gpu's right now. Scalpers will probably sell these for similar margins they've been selling other cards, I don't see much reason to assume otherwise, and you'll be paying even more for this if you wanted it.

Bruh you shouldn't watch a review for the trust value though. Reviews have 2 main things, data and opinions (interpretation of data). If the data is correct it should be verifiable with other reviewers, and the interpretation of it you should be able to see if they are consistent, have flaws or if it's illogical. You can even ignore their opinions fully since you can do the thinking for yourself if the data is provided. Trust in this context is irrelevant and unnecessary. If they release a product however... I'd probably perceive it with a negative bias since they've lost touch of their target audience.

@@How23497 at MSRP the 3080Ti is 500$ more than the 3080 and 300$ less than the 3090, while compared to the 3090 its loosing half its RAM when only gaining 20% on the 3080. Yeah its a money grab. It isn't necessarly bad in the current climate. That depends, among others, on how NVIDIA handles it, whether it diverts more 3090s to it or more 3080s. And to be honest I don't at all trust Nvidias claims here, the fact that they're asking 1200$ for this card and have the balls to claim it's primarily to help gamers and not to increase their cut of the current market all but proves their motivation and likely strategy. It is, however, any way you put it, desastrous for the market after the current situation. Because the 3090 already saw Nvidia massively increase their profit span, without the 3090 having many of the traditional advantages of the Titans. The 3080Ti costs Nvidia almost the same to make as the 3080, but the consumer costs are far closer to the 3090. And that's not just Scalper prices, but Nvidia MSRP. Which means it'll continue to be a thing after the current situation, they obviously don't aim to reduce pricing after the current situation stops. If Nvidia were only trying to increase their cut in the current climate (which I'm actually somewhat okay with), they'd not increase their MSRP but they'd just hike the price they're selling the cards to their partners for.

Linus argued performance is all that matters and that the 3080 and 3080Ti would be similar in price on the 2nd hand market because they are so similar in performance. That hasn't been the case. Also in the WAN show Linus was trying to defend his bad take by saying that the MSRP of the 3080Ti is significantly better than a scalped price of a 3080. This is essentially a 3090-lite, give or take like within a 3% margin in terms of specs sheet on paper. You're telling me that you can get a 3090 that is priced cheaper than a 3090? That is a heck of a deal, granted, if we are talking about MSRP, WHICH NOTHING is being sold at RIGHT NOW! So if you can snatch this baby up AT MSRP, and you have the means to do so, then this is a great deal, but does that mean everyone needs to have one? HECK NO! This is not made for the "average" consumer, especially if you're a gamer! Trust me, GPUs can do A LOT of things on top of just video editing/streaming or gaming, gaming is just the tip of the iceberg of what GPUs can do, not to even mention mining crypto. If you're running low on VRAM on the lower end products, and you HAVE to get this so you can bump those texture settings up, then I have bad news for you mate, get angry at Nvidia, not the reviewers, it is Nvidia's fault for still sticking by such low amount of RAM capacity.

This video reminded me of the importance to consult several sources when making a purchase. I thought this review was superficial and lacked any deeper analysis that would help a potential customer to make a well informed decision. The situation the tech space is in right now is tricky, but that does not mean tech giants should be absolved from deceptive and anti-consumer behaviour.

@@kanecassidy9126 3080ti is made of the exact same die as the 3090 but they fused off the bad parts. And can't even meet the competition on price. The OP's point is they would have benefitted on not even launching this because the 3080 is easier to produce because the entire die is smaller and the pcb is smaller aka a lot easier to produce more with. Yup, yet another reason I stopped watching his channel. Only crazy projects of his may interest me a little bit. But what happened couple previous months? Nearly 50% of videos were "Linus builds X" out of components mere mortals with price/perf focus can't even buy. I think this is my last visit to his channel. Was fun while it lasted.

@@JIAroJIy4 If the content doesn't suit you, then move on. He's got mouths to feed as well as a decent amount of employees to take care of. Almost no one wants to see 2060 super builds with last gen hardware, and even THOSE components aren't readily available. It's almost impossible to walk into a store or go online and just buy ANY graphics card that isn't a PNY Quadro. Is that the type of content you want? Even a price to performance build is impossible to get ahold of for most people, so why bother? Far more people would rather watch a video featuring a Ferrari than a Toyota. It's mostly entertainment with a sprinkle of knowledge/instruction mixed in. You're upset at the market situation, almost everyone is. At the same time, even if the parts were available, how many 3060 ti / AMD 5600X videos can you watch? I grabbed a 3090 when I could. Did I want a $2000 graphics card? No, I would rather have had an $800 3080, but I bought what was available, and I couldn't be happier honestly. I haven't had to fight long lines for a GPU, I've had the best performing GPU available, I'm gaming at 4K on an OLED TV at 120hz, and I'm extremely grateful that I am in the position to do so. But this is a luxury item, and I can't get mad at a youtuber who has NOTHING to do with the current market situation for making videos about a product that is non essential to the majority of people trying to get it.
