@@How23497 at MSRP the 3080Ti is 500$ more than the 3080 and 300$ less than the 3090, while compared to the 3090 its loosing half its RAM when only gaining 20% on the 3080. Yeah its a money grab. It isn't necessarly bad in the current climate. That depends, among others, on how NVIDIA handles it, whether it diverts more 3090s to it or more 3080s. And to be honest I don't at all trust Nvidias claims here, the fact that they're asking 1200$ for this card and have the balls to claim it's primarily to help gamers and not to increase their cut of the current market all but proves their motivation and likely strategy. It is, however, any way you put it, desastrous for the market after the current situation. Because the 3090 already saw Nvidia massively increase their profit span, without the 3090 having many of the traditional advantages of the Titans. The 3080Ti costs Nvidia almost the same to make as the 3080, but the consumer costs are far closer to the 3090. And that's not just Scalper prices, but Nvidia MSRP. Which means it'll continue to be a thing after the current situation, they obviously don't aim to reduce pricing after the current situation stops. If Nvidia were only trying to increase their cut in the current climate (which I'm actually somewhat okay with), they'd not increase their MSRP but they'd just hike the price they're selling the cards to their partners for.

Yup. I like Linus, but this video is a no go for me. Sounds like he's sucking up to Nvidia. Like Jayztwocents said, Nvidia should have taken the chips they used to make the 3070ti and 3080ti and used them to make more normal 3060s, 3070s and 3080s. The mid range is what most people buy. Why make more cards most people can't afford right now.
@amunak_3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, at the very least they should've added an actual video of them talking about the price and perhaps reaching other conclusions, or they simply shouldn't have released it at all since it was all based on some assumptions. The way it looks now is that LTT is completely oblivious to the fact that this is another huge price hike for GPUs and they're saying it's a bargain... Doesn't look good on them.
@James_Online3 жыл бұрын
@@camaro25 why not make more cards for the regular mid - upper mid range cards? Because by producing more high end cards than low end they force consumers who previously had no reason to spend money on high end to have to spend more for it because there are no mid range cards to buy. Nvidia understands the current chip shortage and is capitalizing on it. It's the same reason why there were so many 3090s made in comparison to 3070/80.

Linus you've said before that LTT doesn't need to release their reviews at the same time as smaller outlets at the exact embargo time, you should have waited for the price (and the benchmark results from the other cards included to be factored into the script) to shoot this video, even if that meant releasing it later into the day. The fact that you don't mention the cheaper AMD cards outperforming this card and that the price isn't factored into the script makes you appear biased. The whole tone of the video is otherwise not taking into consideration what the price means for the product. Sure that's because they didn't know it, but it should be important for his viewers that he have a level-headed assessment and not just compare it to the joke called the 3090 and say "seems good" (paraphrasing). If some reviewers with a staff a fraction the size of Linus only got their card unboxed yesterday and can still get a video up taking all these points into consideration (literally every other reviewer did, regardless of staff size), then that just underscores how low the quality and effort of this "review" was. I think he made a fair point, people are being too critical about him. Here' my hottake: 1. Just because something is named "Ti", it doesnt mean that it has to reflect the pricing that it should be in. Products naming scheme changes and so will the prices, and we know Nvidia nor AMD NOR Intel is the best at naming schemes. 2. This is essentially a 3090-lite, give or take like within a 3% margin in terms of specs sheet on paper. You're telling me that you can get a 3090 that is priced cheaper than a 3090? That is a heck of a deal, granted, if we are talking about MSRP, WHICH NOTHING is being sold at RIGHT NOW! So if you can snatch this baby up AT MSRP, and you have the means to do so, then this is a great deal, but does that mean everyone needs to have one? HECK NO! This is not made for the "average" consumer, especially if you're a gamer! Trust me, GPUs can do A LOT of things on top of just video editing/streaming or gaming, gaming is just the tip of the iceberg of what GPUs can do, not to even mention mining crypto. If you're running low on VRAM on the lower end products, and you HAVE to get this so you can bump those texture settings up, then I have bad news for you mate, get angry at Nvidia, not the reviewers, it is Nvidia's fault for still sticking by such low amount of RAM capacity.
