Hey everyone!
Joe Walsh has spent decades aa an Eagle, one of Rock’s premiere bands!
But joe was already a Rock Icon long before he joined The Eagles!
Hitting it big as a solo artist, before that as a member of the Band Barnstorm, and even before that famous for being with one of Rock’s first premiere bands, The James Gang!
Recently at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute appearances, Joe not only performed some of his famous solo offerings, but also in a very special set, played with some of his old cohorts!
In tonight’s video, we’ll discuss Joe’s performance as we ask and answer the following questions!
Should Joe Walsh quit The eagles? Has his time in The Eagles damaged his opportunity to play really shine as a solo artist? Or was he merely used as a highly payed side-man for Glen frey & Don Henley?
And even more importantly, why did Joe Walsh intentionally stay on with the band, being an Eagle in name only?

A very good take on Joe and his role in the Eagles, Michael. Fortunately, Joe has always been more than the Eagles. He's been a big part of Ringo's All Star Band too and something of an elite hired gun in the guitar slinging department. But for sure the Eagles have always been a poster child of sorts for band dysfunction. Big egos for sure. But should stay or go from the Eagles... I really like Joe Walsh, He is really to good for them. For me I would love 💕 to see Randy Miesner, and Joe Walsh with Don Fielder, and Glenn Frey's son Deacon and I don't know who on drums., The Eagles don't let Deacon sing most of Glenn Frey's songs oh, like new kid in town ect. That's probably Don Henley anyway, He's just holding Joe Walsh back as well. Don't get me wrong..I love 💕 the Eagles but when Randy Miesner, and Don Fielder left it was not the same. Maybe they should call themselves "The Onegles" as there is only one original member of the band in the current lineup. Worth a look is the TV show "Brian Johnson Meets Joe Walsh". Near the end of the show Joe and Brian compose a song together while in the back of a limousine! Been listening to Joe Walsh since his 1974 solo album "So What", followed his session work with the likes of Jay Ferguson and Richard Marx etc. Joe is a true master.

Love to see Walsh with the James Gang. The Walsh, Felder partnership made the Eagles for me. They were never quite the same when they got rid of Felder. There was never going to be harmony when your dealing with egos the size of Henley and Freys.

Don Felder became an Eagle when he played on the "On the Border " album. His playing gave the Eagles a more Hard Rock sound with songs "Already Gone " and "Good Day in Hell". One of these Nights confirmed that style and took them to the top of the charts. When they came out with "Hotel California " They brought in "The Mad Bomber " Joe Walsh. To me Felder and Walsh made the Eagles a great band. I saw them live. Those 2 were the stars in my book. They could really jam. Which is necessary when you when you are doing live concerts.

Let's go back to 1972. Frey and Henley met while backing up Linda Ronstadt. Even Linda said they should form a group. So, in the minds of Frey and Henley, the Eagles were their band from the git-go. They added their friends Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, guys who played with Ronstadt off and on and were are part of the crowd that hung out at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, the "egg" of country rock. Frey and Henley got with the mini manager Irving Azoff, who connected them with David Geffen for their record deal. That solidified in their minds the Eagles were "their band." The 4 members, Frey, Henley, Leadon and Meisner agreed to equal partner shares. Before "On the Border" Frey and Henley wanted to go to a harder sound. Leadon didn't want to go that way and introduced his friend Don Felder to the group. After jamming together for a while, Frey and Henley invited him in as Leadon wanted to leave. Felder supposedly was granted a full partnership, but, when Frey and Henley fired him in 2001, Felder sued them for wrongful termination, breach of implied-in-fact contract and breach of fiduciary duty. Frey and Henley counter sued and the attorneys got rich. The parties settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. When Leadon left, Frey and Henley invited Joe Walsh to join the band. They offered him full partnership but he turned it down. He told an interviewer (that I saw on video) that he didn't want to get into all that. "I just wanted to play and make some money." He wasn't "relegated" to play 3rd banana, he chose it. So it was understood from the beginning that Joe was a contract player. Between the lines, I figured Joe saw that Azoff, Frey and Henley ran the show, especially with clashes already developing with Felder. And, Joe had led the "James Gang" until he was sick of it and stopped. So the offer by the Eagles didn't suit him even in 1975. Joe still gets royalties on James Gang material and solo efforts. He has 2 of those gold records on the wall plus a Platinum according to the RIAA, the industry company that awards them. Randy Meisner never was a force in the band and took a lot of abuse from Frey and Henley to hit the high note in "Take It to the Limit" as the song ended. He quit as the pressure got to be too much in 1977 after the "Hotel California" tour. In the movie "History of the Eagles" Frey and Henley talked about the reunion in 1994. They went to Joe Walsh to tell him they wouldn't reunite unless Joe was a part of it. But to do it, Joe would have to get cleaned up and sober. Joe at that time had one foot in and one foot out of the partying scene. Michael Noland got that story right, except a partnership was never on the table during the reunion. That had been decided years before. Even during his drunk years, Joe played on tours with Ringo Starr's band. And, after the Eagles started touring again, he has been a guest on the Ringo show from 1995-2019. He and Ringo became brothers in law in 2008 when Joe married Marjorie Bach, twin sister of Ringo's wife, Barbara Bach (Bond girl "The Spy Who Loved Me"). The four of them are all reformed alcoholics and run around together even now. Joe also did one off gigs on recordings and guest appearances on other bands. He had a solo gig with a backing band in the early 80's just as a traveling working musician. Joe Walsh has plenty in the bank. He may not be filthy but he's happy with his life and isn't carrying a heavy load of pressure of dealing with Henley and (before his death) Frey. After all, "Life's been good to him so far."

@SurfinUSA. You may already know this. Saw an interview with Joe Walsh where he was asked about his session work - specifically his slide guitar work on the Richard Marx track "Don't Mean Nothin". The recording was made during Joe's "out of it" years when he was drinking and drug abuse. Joe said something like "Well, it sounds like me, but I don't remember it!" My favourite Joe Walsh session appearance is his playing on the Steve Winwood track "Split Decision" from Steve"s album "Back In The High Life". Well worth a listen if you don't know it. Joe really does not need the Eagles but could Joe fill the same venues. He must like playing with them because he seems like the kinda of guy that would not want to deal with BS. I would love to see James Gang hit the road and record a LP. I always been a fan for Joe's solo work as well.

I've seen the Eagles 3 times since 2000, and Joe Walsh twice on his own. The man is a legend., and so funny too. All 3 times with the Eagles when they introduced the band Joe got the biggest ovation, and it wasn't even close. The fans love this guy.

Don Felder saved his life - literally - I understand the need for financial security on a level maybe he wouldn't have without the eagles but - he and Don and the bass player for that matter were and are side men - Greed ruins everything it touches - Don Felder wrote arguably the greatest american anthem in the history of rock - That should've been his trump card - I think politics had a lot to do with their dislike for Don Felder and that's juvenile

Realistically though, he will most likely try to balance the two gigs, as I don’t see him turning away from the cushy financial security of the Eagles. I saw Joe Walsh in Huntington NY around 7 years ago and the music was great and so were the stories he told. I would definitely see him again but have no interest in the Eagles with the current line up. Not to mention, I totally felt the loss when Felder was removed.

I found myself most concerned with Joe’s sobriety. If it took the regularity of being a touring member to do that, I’m ok. But remember it was Don Felder they called on to do the intervention that started Joe’s recovery. Felder would never say that Joe was disloyal by choosing the steady gig that gave him the stability he’s shown. That’s a true friend.

I rode with Joe to Albert King's Memorial Service and he had just gotten sober. Joe played "Amazing Grace" on slide guitar and it was not only Beautiful, It was completely spiritual. We stopped by a local music store in Memphis on the way to the service and he got an amp, a guitar, and a cord as well as a pick cause he had nothing him other than a slide. He tuned it to an open "G" in the back of the Limo and played it beautifully. The guys conducting the "Service" for Albert had no idea who Joe was but they let him go and it was amazing!!!

I met Joe Walsh one time at the General Patton museum off I-10 in California. I was walking around the museum looking at some of the displays when this guy was also looking at the same displays. I got into a casual conversation about the displays as we where walking and talking. It slowly dawned on me that I was talking to Joe Walsh. As I left going South on I-10 down the hill I thought to myself "what was Joe Walsh doing at that Gen. Patton museum"? As I passed by an Indian reservation casino ,at the bottom of the hill, I saw on the casino marquee "Joe Walsh in concert Saturday night". Now I know why he was there just burning some time taking in the local sights.

Can't tell you how many dimes I slotted in table top juke boxes at late night diners playing the James Gang. When I think of those times he's the one that comes mind first. To me, it was always the Eagles & Joe Walsh. The guy's a musical genius and should definitely go back "with the gang".

Rick, Don Henley cant forget Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon were 2 of the original members long before Joe Walsh got considered for Eagles. If Frey and him are the main Eagles and he considers no one else should be band members, by his logic they'd never have reached higher success by hiring Don Felder and him thereby creating Hotel California. On top of that, those 2 would be trading insults at just each other.

Have to admit I’m a fan of the Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner era of the band which continued when Don Felder became a member. I never thought that Walsh fit in that well, being more of a hard rocker as opposed to the somewhat softer sounds of the Eagles. Just a personal opinion on my part. Admittedly, I was never a fan of Joe Walsh before he joined the band so that may have something to do with my opinion as well. Enjoyed your discussion, Michael.

I'm also a fan of the Bernie Leadon 1971-75 period (only) but mainman Frey wanted Eagles to be a rock band, and Joe made his dream come true. Their Greatest Hits (1976) is the all time best selling album in the USA. 🙂

I saw Joe once with the James Gang and twice touring solo in the 80's after The Iggles broke up....and of course once with the Iggles in between. All of his solo shows were great shows. He did every tune I wanted him to do to perfection each time. Should he quit the Eagles? I did not even know there was still an Eagles to quit? I would not go see them given the opportunity....but I would go see Joe solo at the drop of a hat.

Great video Michael. I definatly think that Joe is the star of the show and I would love to see him live with the James Gang. I also agree with the Eagles as well as many other classic bands are touring without releasing new music to add to the show is frustrating. This being said I still love the experience of going to a show and having the shared musical experience with other fans. I think that as long as the expectation is set it can still be a great time. I love the Eagles. One of my favorite bands of all time. I was unhappy with the firing of Don Felder. He is one of my favorite band members. But unfortunately, all bands have issues, and I took it as just another band that does not get along. I continued to watch and enjoy the Eagles up until Glenn Fry's death. Now, I agree with you Michael. The Eagles are dead. Joe Walsh should tour with Ringo, the James Gang, do other things.

Walsh should quit and him and Don Felder make a record called something like the "reunited on the outskirts of hell". Remember when the Eagles reunited it was Felder who went and got Joe into rehab to get clean. Because Joe wouldn't take calls from anyone other than Felder. Glenn Frey didn't even want to do it at first and the jam sessions with Henley, Felder and Timothy Schmitt that got the ball rolling. When Bernie left they band decided that any new members would just be hired help. So Schmitt and Walsh were always just paid employees. Thank Irving Azoff for that idea. This way if you quit like Bernie did or later with Randy Meisner leaving they forfeited any further profits from the band. The only person who got to go home and still collect a check was Felder who is still part owner of the Eagles incorporated. But honestly I think it was Glenn Frey who was the major problem maker in the Eagles he was able to bully everyone including Henley around from the late 80s radio interviews I've heard from Bill Szymczyk. He shed a ton of light on how the Eagles were run as a business. It was Bill Szymczyk who got Joe Walsh into the Eagles since he was producing Joe's solo records as well as the Eagles. Walsh and Felder are by far the best guitar duo of that era, the actual talent it takes to pull of those dual lead parts on a single track int he studio is unthinkable even today. Yet they did it on 2 inch tape which is just a feat of talent most guitar duos only dream of pulling off.

Back in 1972, I wore out his The smoker you drink,the player you get 8 track tape of that album. Rocky Mountain Way blew us all away with his voice box talent. And slide guitar!!!!! Finally finished Heaven and Hell. And unfortunately Joe and Tim were told not to talk or support Felder. I hope that if ever, Eagles retire - he could work with Felder again

Joe explained why he stays on as an Eagle .it's the same reason he joined in the first place. He was tired of the pressure and the responsibility of being not just the band leader but the person responsible for every decision for the whole Joe Walsh organization. Being in the Eagles gives him a very steady substantial amount of money which enables him to live a comfortable life and also gives him the opportunity to do his solo work at his leisure when and where he sees fit at his own pace on his own terms. Joe is making 4 million a year with the Eagles and all he has to do is play guitar while not having to do the extra work of being a full time solo artist on order to make a living. Joe is happy doing what he is doing. Joe 100 percent agreed to being a paid side man almost 20 years ago . The fact that he has been working under this arrangement for the last 2 decades is an indication he is happy and he agreed to this willingly with no push back or animosity. He is happy to make several million a year to play guitar and make extra on the side doing solo gigs when he wants. He just wants to play and have fun and make seem steady reliable income . The guy is in his 70s and does not want to go back to full time solo touring to make a good living. Think about it as a solo artist he is going to have to work also harder to make that 4 million a year and have also more responsibilities and be responsible for alot more people . This is why he would not join Felder in his law suit. It's why he told Randy Meisner in the 70s not to quit . He said listen you don't want to go out on your own its not fun and you are responsible for it all .I have been there and done that and it's not like you think it's going to be and I am not going back to it . This is why he told Felder he did not want to get involved in band arguments or team up with him or Randy to confront Don and Glen ..He just wanted to keep his place in the Eagles. Joe had never been concerned with getting an equal share of the money . He makes more money being a paid sideman in the Eagles . He would have to play alot now shows to make that money on his own . I see alot of videos where people seem to be talking about what Joe should and should not do and how Joe should feel about the Eagles and how he should feel about Don Henley and being treated like hired hand . It's Joe's decision he agreed to it and he is happy . Many what to project their feelings about the Eagles and Henly onto to Joe with some being outright upset with Joe for not feeling like they do. We hate Don Henly therefore Joe should too . I see alot of videos where people are angry with Joe over not quitting the Eagles and Joinng Felder in his lawsuit and that is Ridiculous.. you can't expect Joe to just give up 4 million a year and be forced to full time solo touring to join A lawsuit he did not agree with or belive in . People said Joe chose money over friendship which makes no sense because Felder was literally suing his friends over money. So Joe actually chose less money instead of suing with Felder for more money .Felder was asking Joe to give up his spot in the Eagles and blow up his friendships with the rest of the band to sue for More money but Joe Chose money over Freinship ? O n Regards to Felder and what he asked of Joe . What kind of friend asks you to put that much on the line ?

I remember through that wonderful smoky haze, three of us guys went to see Joe Walsh. This was back when he was performing new songs from the album, "That's the Rub" or something like that. The backup group was the Marshal Tucker Band. I reckon that was when the famed two brothers were still alive. That place was jammin' with that country blues. Being in the Eagles, an iconic band, certainly hasn't hurt Joe's career in my opinion.With the recent changes to the Eagles membership it is not the same band nor is it hard to imagine Joe leaving. Never figured Joe as needing anybody for anything, he's that good. So that's why I never understood him letting himself being pushed around by those 2...He definitely didn't need the money so whats up? It had to be over his recovery. Maybe it was burnt circuits that caused him to abandoned Felder. The same ones that caused him to say on the Howard Stern Show that Hendrix strung his guitar upside down, he really blew it on that 1, but I let it slide...After All It's Joe.

Can't agree more, I saw the Eagles in Liverpool early in the year, Joe's songs were some of the best parts of the night, but the audience really weren't into it, it would be great to see Joe back on the road on his own or with the James Gang with an audience who actually want to listen to his stuff. To be fair though most of the audience didn't seem to know Those Shoes or Victim of Love so I think most of them were there to here the hits more than anything else.

There are so many other things Joe could be doing. Ringo's all star band, collaborations with other artists such as Todd Rundgren . He doesn't really need the eagles. I was puzzled by his involvement with them in the first place.

I was fortunate enough to see the Eagles in 2015 shortly before Glenn's passing. It was phenomenal. That being said yes I agree Joe's time has come. They're not even the Eagles anymore anyway. Henley would never let him do both the Eagles and James Gang. He should return to a solo career with occasional James Gang reunions or retire. Retirement at these guy's ages is always an option to. Don't want to end up like Brian Wilson being walked out literally to play music he doesn't want to play so have the songs become instrumentals.

I am a fan of both. But, who in their right mind is going to quit a steady paycheck with an easy gig? As long as his contract doesn't stop him from playing as a solo or with other acts. Why would he give up easy money? I don't see him leaving anytime soon. I agree that Hell Freezes Over was the end of the road for them. Long Road Out Of Eden just isn't my cup of tea. But if the James Gang got back together. I would love to go and see one of their shows.

I saw the Eagles on Aug 24, 1994 at Giants Stadium and it was a great show. They did lots of solo stuff and wanted to hear Don Felder's Take a Ride Heavy Metal. Would've blown the crowd away.

I'd love to see Joe back on his own. Let's not forget, Joe lost his baby daughter in 1974, which devastated him. I always felt he always had a little bit of self-doubt in spite of his bona-fides. And at that time in his life, no doubt he feels indebted to the Eagles for a literal second chance. TBH, I've been a bigger fan of James Gang and _especially_ Joe's solo career than the Eagles on the whole. And I have zero doubt that Joe's contributions to Hotel California were huge, he's all over that record. It wouldn't have been the same without him. He was amazing live in the 70's, and I think it's time to revive the show and take the limelight. He's been in the background far too long.

Well, that was …entertaining 🤣 Seeing this a year after you made this video, let me be the 100th person to point out Joe is NOT the James in The James Gang- that goes to Jimmy Fox, who started the band 2 years before Joe joined it. Joe IS definitely the “Gang” though …in that between his stacks, echo-plex & “spinning” B3 speakers he sure *sounded* like a gang! Joe said back during his Barnstorm & “Joe Walsh & Friends” days that the “personnel management “ portion of being a bandleader: booking, hiring & firing, etc. was a drag and he wanted to get away from it. That was pre-Eagles…so maybe an alternative theory? The interviews & quotes were all online & available a few years back so you can probably eventually find them yourself. 👍🏼

The James Gang was a superior band in many ways. Better drumming for one. Walsh said he joined the Eagles in part, to take some of the pressure off of being a band leader, or solo performer. Too bad. The Eagles now is a novelty act, more than anything, I think. Btw, I own Joe Walsh's old Premier reverb tank. I have no idea if it was ever used on any recordings. But it sounds great, and...hey...it belonged to Joe Walsh!

I see your points. In 1975 when Joe joined the Eagles he gave them a rock edge they didn't have. In 1994, the band was instrumental in allowing Joe to get through his personal recovery. But it would be fair to say now these many years later thanks it's been great but I am going back to doing my own thing as a solo or with the James Gang. Just because something was true in 1975 or 1994 doesn't mean it has to be true now.

Also I have a copy of the original 2 night concert before the vocal and guitar overdubs. It's a Stereo 2 track bounce from the Neve 8068 console they used in the truck to record the concert in multitrack form. It's been a bootleg since 1995. I did have a copy of the multitracks but I can't find it anywhere I've looked dozens of times. When you compare Hell Freezes over to the Fleetwood Mac "the Dance from the same era the eagles were pretty rough as a band. Where as Fleetwood Mac was really good. Most of the Fleetwood Mac concert tracks were used except for 2 vocals from Christine. Compare that to the Eagles where all of Don Henley, Joe, and Glenn's vocals were overdubed later only Timothy was kept from the live recording. If you look you can find the same recording of the original 2 night concert for hell freezes over before they tinkered with the recording.

Totally agree. I like the Eagles but they are done, there is no substance left. It's not even a dead horse they are riding. I would love to see (hear) Joe with the James Gang. Would also be cool if he wold team up with Joe Vitale (his partner in crime since Barnstorm) again. A few days back Tom "Uncle Larry" Bukovac posted a video of himself interviewing Vitale for the Homeskoolin' channel and talking about Barnstorm, incredibly interesting. It's like watching life-long friends getting divorced. I'll continue to respect each and enjoy the music of all of them. But I have often thought Joe and Don Felder should go it alone. I believe, as part of the settlement, Don is legally allowed to play Eagles songs while Joe (solo), apparently, is not. But playing with Don would solve that. Fans would flock to watch Don and Joe dueling on Hotel California and other songs. Perhaps the James Gang plus Fingers would be worth a concert ticket or two?

I have the feeling that Joe Walsh has a much happier experience performing with Ringo Starr's All Star Band than he now does with The Eagles. Personally, I couldn't imagine playing along with Don "Giant Ego" Henley. Boy, that would be so depressing. But joining Ringo would be like a party of fun. Unfortunately, the James Gang has the stigma of being the "American Yardbirds"--known more for the guitarists whose careers they launched, than for their CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED music, which I will put up against Led Zeppelin's body of work, any day! By the way--Joe replaced Glenn Schwartz who went on to form Pacific Gas and Electric. Glenn was certainly more memorable than "Top" Topham, whom Clapton replaced in the Yardbirds

All the players in the band should have been equal members. They should have all received equal pay except for individual song royalties, as you well stated. Don Felder should never have been fired. Regarding Joe Walsh. Considering the shape of the band these days, Walsh should go solo and/or get back with the James Gang. Eagles are done, in my opinion.

I understand your point. Joe Walsh is clearly making millions a year with the Eagles and traveling like an Arabian Prince with 5 star hotels and massive per diems and luxurious limos and never worrying about the money train stopping. He is starting to be creatively excited to restart "James Gang" for tours and one off gigs. He played a few fundraisers to the military veterans with the "James Gang" and loved it. Now he wants to do a lot more with the "James Gang" which tells me this is where his creative juices will be nourished. "The Eagles" are a cash cow and memory wagon traveling from town to town selling nostalgia by the pound and charging a lot for it. Joe's power in the band has risen with Glenn's passing since Joe played on "Hotel California" which (except for the "Greatest Hits" was Eagles biggest record) makes him a valued person in the Eagles because he increases their marketability. Joe is making too much money to leave the Eagles and will nurture his creative genes with lots more "James Gang" projects where he will find fulfillment.

Joe never needed the Eagles musically speaking. Joe however improved the Eagles sound. I read Felder's book & believe it. All you gotta do is look up the video of the Eagles acceptance speech @ their induction into the R&RHOF. Everyone is so humble even Felder, Randy, & Bernie(no longer Eagles) plus Timothy & Joe(still Eagles) EXCEPT Frye & Henley whose speeches are full of arrogance! If there were doubt to the truth of Don Felder's book, it was gone, after seeing that. Actions speak louder.

The songwriters make so much money, especially when their songs are licensed for movies and TV. As everyone has to travel to the same gigs and play the same shows, no reason the other members of the band shouldn't get exactly what the two "stars" are getting, since they're already getting a lot more in various types of royalties for the songs they wrote.

Hey Michael, the real story of Joe Walsh joining the Eagles was obvious from the start. He was never an OFFICIAL member - just a hired hand so to speak. He did fit in very well - & gave the Eagles something extra. But Henley & Frey's big egos & controlling personalities did a lot of damage to many members of that band. Their treatment of Randy Meisner & Don Felder was disgraceful & unforgivable!! Bernie Leadon & Joe Walsh experienced this too, but to a lesser extent. But move forward a few years. You got it right "The Eagles Are Now A Jukebox Cover Band". Joe should leave for good & do his own thing. Tiger.

I agree with except for one point: Frey and Henley respected Joe as an individual artist and were neutral on him, not negative. Joe was a bona fide star, had his own gold records and income streams. He didn't need the Eagles. Frey and Henley WANTED him. Big difference compared to the other Eagle members who didn't have an outside resume. Frey and Henley knew that Joe brought the band extra "star power" and his playing cranked up the wattage. Joe wrote his songs like "pretty maids all in a row" and provided ideas for Frey and Henley. He recently talked about a warm up exercise he did before shows to "limber up." He had one particular "hook line" he practiced. Frey heard him and ran into the room saying "what's the name of that song?" Joe said, "it isn't a song, it's a practice line." Frey leaned over, Joe showed him the chords and Frey dashed out of the room saying, "that's an Eagles song." Frey and Henley wrote the lyrics and the band recorded it. Joe got part of the writer's credit. You might know the song "Life in the Fast Lane."

Joe just played a charity concert for veterans in Columbus, Ohio this past Sunday night, Nov.6. He also did another set with the James Gang. Check it out, there are videos of them playing some of their classic songs at the concert on KZbin. Dave Grohl guested on drums too!

Hey Michael I've been watching your videos for the last couple of months and really enjoy your approach and the subject matter you talk about. I love Joe's earlier solo albums, especially Barnstorm and his days with the James Gang and I have always been into him more than I ever was with the Eagles. The only album I ever brought of the Eagles was their Greatest Hits and the album Hotel California and that to me was the best track on the album the rest of the material on the album never spoke that much to me. I also brought the DVD Hell Freezes Over and I do love that concert, especially in surround sound and it does come with an excellent 5.1 mix. All the time I've watched that concert I never even noticed how Henly was not Mic'd up where he is using the guitar to play the percussion and I will have to watch that closely the next time I put it on. I nearly choked on my coffee when you said "give me a freakin coffee break" that was Feckin' class dude love it. You've cracked me up a few times on some of your other videos too. I agree with you entirely on every video of yours I've seen so far and I'm enjoying your channel a lot and always look forward to the next video.

It will be idiotic for Joe Walsh to leave the Eagles. He won't be playing such massive crowd and earning that much without the Eagles. Both Joe and Timothy knew this. If you have read Felder's book, Felder was trying to convince both Joe and Timothy to speak up against their share with the eagles but they both declined and told Felder "Why don't you just sign" and then hang up. Then the lawsuit happened then settled at a rumored amount of 50 Mil. But even with it, Joe Walsh has a net worth of 75 Mil compared to Felders 60 Mil. Both Henley and Frey maybe arseholes but without them, the Eagles wouldn't have existed. Even Felder himself admitted that its the magic between Henley and Frey that made the Eagles what it is. Felder is an exceptional player but his compositions would have ended very ordinary sounding without Henley and Frey. Just listen to Felder's solo effort. It sounds good but there's nothing about it that is worth listening again. Had Felder composed Hotel California by himself, it would have sounded like Jethro Tull's " We used to know". Sounds good but very ordinary.

Happy 75th birthday Joe! A lot to cover here. Walsh is ADD and can't sit still. When he isn't touring with the Eagles or his own band he usually finds something else to do. The Gang, Eagles, his own band combined together can't fill his time. The guy obviously can't just go home and relax by the fireplace. Maybe that will change as he gets older and he begins to feel it but for a long time that's just the way it is. He is on record saying he left the Gang for the Eagles because he was tired of doing most of the writing and being boxed in to their style of music. The Eagles provided a chance for someone else to do most of the writing while he could relax a bit as a band member. He is still able to play Gang music as part of the Eagles sets. He seems to have some room to improvise his guitar work in concerts so that probably helps keep things interesting for him. The Eagles tours are well managed and profitable so about all he has to do is show up. Plus his family can tour the world with him if they feel like it. I doubt anyone in their 70's will be able to write with enough passion and creativity to make good rock tunes like these bands did in the 1970s. God bless Joe and Dale and Jimmy. I had the pleasure of seeing them at Red Rocks several years ago.

I have to disagree with you about everyone getting equal shares. Don and Glenn contributed WAY more to that band than the others. They both went and had very successful solo careers proving their worth. They managed the band. Equal shares may be better for band chemistry but I don't agree it has to be that way.
