While Russell Westbrook is at the center of trade rumors, it seems that he could be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers at the start of the season. Jovan Buha of the Athletic thinks that if LA can’t move Russ in a trade, the Lakers should consider sending him home and paying him to stay away from the team. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss the possibility of Lakers releasing Russell Westbrook.

Facts, people kept trying to flame the NBA for " blackballing" Melo not understanding that he deserved everything he got at the time. Even at his best, he was always an average efficiency, high volume scorer that did not play to his team's strengths, ball hogged, and predicated his own success over the rest of the team. As he got older, his efficiency plummetted but he refused to adapt. He was the same ball stopping scorer thru and thru, and he refused to play within a system made for others. He had some of the best looks he's ever had in OKC, but still missed shots. He messed up the flow in Houston because he prioritized taking "Melo shots" instead of good ones. The only way he was going to get a chance after that was by buying into the idea that HE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT GUY! HES NOT THAT GUY ANYMORE, AND BEING THAT GUY HAS NOT GOTTEN HIM ANYWHERE SUCCESSFUL. Westbrook refuses to learn that fact, and unlike Melo, Russ lacks the basic basketball skills and IQ to be adaptable.

I got a question for everyone? It’s known that being the number one player on the team is the most difficult position and if you have been a number one and now your job is to be a role player then based on your talent it should be a piece of cake to be a role player moving forward. I remember Chris Bosh became a role player in Miami and he got two rings. Bottom line if a walking triple double a few years ago you should be a number 3 on a team easily. You should play defense, set up others, and just get easy buckets when the other two stars are being double teamed. I think he’s just an ego maniac.

The only aspect of this situation I disagree with Shannon on is that this isn't an issue of an aging athlete losing his athleticism. This is sheerly an issue of Fit. Russ's game is still functional he just needs to be surrounded by shooters, and LeBron & AD are Not that. So that means Russ is the odd man out. As a third option Russ has to be a capable shooter, which he is Not & never has been. So unless he's willing to come off the bench there's No chance of this trio working because he's Not a Fit in that starting lineup. He doesn't provide the spacing needed to make the offense competitively efficient in today's Basketball. On another team as a 1st or 2nd option Russ would continue to be Russ. He wouldn't win any rings, but he would be no less the player he has always been. The reality is the roof of Russ's game has been exposed & once the league has seen it you can't put that genie back in the bottle.

@Anthonydu01630 2 жыл бұрын
He averaged 6.2 assists because he played with one of the most ball dominant point guard in the world, 1st season with AD Lebron lead the league in assists, and he know will easily, EASILY beat Kareem all time points record, even if it’s not next season, Lebron still has 4-5 more years in him, he is 37, Vince Carter ended his career at 42 so Lebron can easily break Kareem record so i don’t understand the people who keep saying he chase Kareem record, NO he had to score a lot because nobody on this team could score this season AD was injured half of the season and all the other role players were trash, then you add Westbrook as a point guard and the only way Lebron could impact the game was by scoring or defending because with Russ you must give him the ball if not he is completely useless, GOD DAMN USE YOUR BRAIN.
@rogercarson5351
@rogercarson5351 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think this is all AD’s fault and Russ is just taking the blame for everything. There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for his bad play (3 point AND regular FG shooting and turnovers) but AD has been coming up EXTREMELY small when he’s on the floor…which isn’t very much! He should be done dominating whether it be from the middle or his mid range jumper. PLUS he’s EXTREMELY fragile! When he’s dominant, he can space the floor EASILY because he would have to be accounted for. I’m not a Lakers fan but I truly hope he’s working on his game like the reports are saying. Even if he is, he HAS to let that work translate in game time situations!

I would love for Lebron to win a chip with Russ this season because it would have most of the haters stuck. They would either have to admit Lebron is good, Westbrook is good, or that the rest of league is awful. They would probably go option 3 tho

Shannon and Skip Bayless have you guys got amnesia. It was LeBron and AD that wasn't playing team ball. Every night LeBron was stat stuffing trying to pass Kareem. AD and LeBron taking all the shots. Malik Monk frozen out of the offense, their friend Carmelo had to just take shots when he could. Frank Vogel never ran any sets for anybody but LeBron and AD. Taylor Horton Tucker the best young talent on the Lakers completely frozen out of the offense by Lebron. No this was not what Westbrook agreed to by coming to the Lakers. Russell saw the way it was going so he decided to let AD and LeBron do it by themselves. Russell Westbrook is a way better ballplayer than he showed with the Lakers but he is no fool. When LeBron didn't play the whole team played better. You guys are fools to think an accomplished player , who's career has record breaking numbers is honestly that bad. No LeBron let it be known that he was going to stat stuff shooting all those 3s and wasn't going to change for nobody . That's why the Lakers lost all those games in the 3rd and 4th quarters because the other players quit on LeBron and his selfishness.

Got to let them play it out again. That’s painful but Bron chose his hitter, he knew what he was doing takes pressure to win another title. Hope the lakers don’t sacrifice the short term and trade those picks. Bron is focused on other things, he will pass Kareem and ultimately play with his son as he seeks to overpass basketball immortality.
