My father use to be a manager of storage units and he told me when they had to clean out storage units he would keep some of the stuff from the units. So YEAH, that manager probably wanted something from that unit.

I work in the rug/carpet industry. If the pattern is the same on the back as the front, it is more than likely made by hand, Most machine rugs will put a rubber backing on them. Find a good rug cleaner in your area give you a heads up on it.

I had the same thing happen to me. It was closed on Sunday, cleared out monday and I lost my deposit. I called there corporate office and told them what happen and they made the manager give my deposit back. I totally understand what your talking about.

Lately I’ve been viewing online auctions. I’m in OK. I’ll see a good old dusty unit, get super excited, then upon viewing the pics up close, realize the boxes and bins have been disturbed, usually the very front boxes and bins. Can see the brand new glove prints on them that have wiped or disturbed the old dust. Pisses me off. Who else but someone on the inside? Why aren’t the mid and rear bins/ boxes disturbed? U know it’s not the owners. Owners typically upend everything. You can tell a pick through.

Extra space is the only facility that has ever removed items from the auction I bid on, there was clearly a mannequin in the auction photos, but when I showed up the mannequin was gone and all the items on shelves were rearranged, I did not immediately notice but after I made my video, it was very obvious, I went to their website and messaged the manager and District manager through email, several months later I noticed that the messages were in my unsent folder as undeliverable email addresses, I did not pursue it any further, I just no longer buy from extra space.

I bought three lockers at an auction in Salisbury Nc. It was from a mom and pop facility. The guy only allowed us 24 hours to get everything cleaned out. At the end of the auction he asked us if we needed more time and most of us said yes. He then said that we could have extra days at $25 a day per locker. We all said no. He was clearly money hungry.

They should give 48 hours, plus 1 extra day for every additional locker you buy at the auction. It's almost like they are discouraging you from buying more than one... doesn't make much sense business-wise.

Makes me wonder if they go through people's lockers who do pay on time. How do the units get so messy. I have a storage unit and it is neat. They should give one of those prayers to that manager. I am happy, you were able to get the items out without any more problems. Do the storage facilities have dumpsters?

At 13:30 the rug should have a label on it with the knot count on it , the size and the land where it is made on it. Some of the rug are very valuable. Some rugs sell for up to 1000 $ and more. Here in Germany we have specialists that could tell you the value of rugs.

What did you find out about the bikes value? Upper managers want to know about these kind of people as they hurt the companies bottom line. Her facility might be full, but that could just be because of the location and nothing to do with her charisma. Write them tomorrow. If you don't you just reinforce her hostility.

So...in MA our on site auction company does not allow recording. And you need 3 people for an auction. This lady has to know what's in their and dose not want to sell it. I'd buy it in a second just so she could not have it..... Usually managers give you extra time because they do not want to do it themselves. I just picked up a $10 unit with two mid 80's beer signs a table saw in a box ($250 cheap brand) and three craftsman table saws all operational. Just popped three at my thrift in one day. They gave me 4 days to empty....lol

Have had a terrible experience at Extra Space when they bought our storage facility and replaced the kind helpful manager with someone who was like a world war II soldier for the other side. He was a "pr..k" and lacked compassion after a flood and we ended up leaving and packing our unit and moving to central storage - much much better management

You are so right. I was in a disagreement with a company over a large amount of money and was being as polite as I could. We went round and round through numerous phone calls where I would get “accidentally” disconnected whenever I was supposed to be connected to a manager. I finally blew my top and was immediately took care of my problem and got me my money back. As I thanked her, I asked her why I got nothing but hassles while I was being nice, then got what I was looking for within 10 minutes of losing my temper. She verbally shrugged and said she had no idea why I wasn’t immediately transferred to her on my first call. I told her she would go home at night much less stressed if customers didn’t have to completely lose their tempers before they finally got to talk to her!

Many times when a unit is delinquent, the facility will cut off the owners lock and install their own. That prevents the owner from showing up and taking the forfieted items. But like I have been saying on many of these storage unit youtube sites...these managers have already ransacked most units and took out the good stuff. The big "Finds" and "Motherload" discoveries are often set-up by less than honest KZbinrs.

When I ran a storage facility, I would go thru with the district manager and cut the locks off. We would then relocate the unit with our lock, then put a single use tag on it. The serial number on the tag was recorded, signed off on by myself and the Adam, and come the day of the auction, that sign off sheet was available for any of the attendees to view. After a period of time, I got to know a number of the bidders, and they got to know me. Depending on the locker size, and how many lockers they bought, I would grant exceptions to the normal time frame. I worked with them, they worked with me.

All storage facilities will take off owner's lock and put their own on. Unfortunately I've had that happen. Even after paying 1 day late. Unfortunately, there are quite a few facilities tut that are open on Sundays. I'm in no way excusing the behavior but there are some quirky rules at some places
