I'm a young and proud member of the PSP party, and if an election were to happen early in the midst of a pandemic, there is no doubt the people would be voters for opposition. We need more younger opposition volunteers to join in our crusade against the white politicians or elite serving in their own interest over others.

Supporting early elections the PAP is in fear of losing this election. When Malaysia shut its border, spore should have done the same. This govt failed but instead allowed workers into our country and made situations worst. If early lockdown was imposed, we would not have faced with this high no of cases today.we need more opposition leaders only than spore will know how much reserves spore has today. Our children gets university in our own country. The high courts should have judges upgraded from the lower courts and not at the advice on the PMfor his own gain. When cases are won in the lower courts appeal made in the high court must be looked into carefully and not after 2 months judgment given with all false declaration made by the judge. Police report made must be investigated by shanmugam not shut files. 2 judges decision was in the lower court was dismissed by one judge in the high court.shame on you PAP.

It is probably better to hold off the election first because this is a time of great uncertainty and the government should focus their efforts on fighting COVID instead of trying to garner support. If an opposition party is elected, the handover may introduce more confusion to the situation.

Minister Sir can I suggest those 14 days quarantine to separate them at one place example changi airport or certain area separate frm public or home family. Place them at another quarantine place in 20 ft container or 40ft container simple home with simple beds and outside wif. proper shower area & hot water laundry. Bill them deduct their stay at quarantine using their cpf funds eg. $800 for food, laundry for 14 days. Dont let them mix with family or public. I have a stroke dad at home & its difficult to buy neccessities items for him. Its effect singaporeans. Kindly quarantine these people in a remote place for 14 days fast.

Constitution can be amended for the incumbent government to carry on in a midst of crisis. No need GE for a strong mandate. There are so many bills (temporary measures) passed in Parliament so why not having a Constitution (temporary measures)? Remember, the Constitution for the Reserved Elected President was fast tracked within a year.

Actually the current Parliament composition will automatically dissolve on 15 Jan 2021, because the maximum term of a government is 5 years from its first sitting since the last General Election. Singapore will effectively NOT have an elected government if the next election is not held by 15 Jan 2021.

Election will definitely happen sooner than we expect. the day before the budget TCH already said in a firm manner its unconstitutional. the next day budget release with lots of candies. As much as I agree this budget and it enhancement later does help a lot of us during this period and I applaud them for going the length to help singaporean. However after u peel this budget layer by layer there is a very clear message that I'm reading, it's that of financial security. Its as if they are telling us "if u want financial security, please do VOTE WISELY 😏" (which bring us to con no.3 ). As much as we want them to postpone the election they can always point to countries that have election during cover 19 and tell u how it can be conducted to prevent infection ......... e.g TW/ Korea ..... its all landslide results by the way...............

Caretaker government is workable, all is needed is an issuance of national emergency and it will not be unconstitutional, which we may already be in depending on which yardsticks you use. We need the policies to be carried through, even if we think the government is performing under par with the fight against COVID-19 they will learn and adjust. The elections can wait because we simply are in no shape or form to conduct mass events.

Let put it this way Singapore has never had a change of government, even when sentiment of dissatisfaction was high during the last election. The opposition never really made an impact with the only main seats that was lost was the Aljunied GRC. Postponing the election due to this pandemic is necessary, no one, (i really mean no one) wants an election now when we know that the we need a steady hand to navigate this disaster, case in point look at USA.

Great Video! The FW outbreak could be a deal breaker which the govt is really in fear of. Certainly, they probably had plans to announce for a GE to happen slightly after the CB and if all things went well they would be almost assured of the usual landslide (with the mix cocktails of cons you mentioned). The FW crisis would have to be really badly managed to the point it affects Singapore's economic functions significantly by the end of CB. Extension of 15-30 days due to FW outbreak could be bearable. Anymore then that it bears the risk of backfire, but certainly you know a serious backfire would at most make a 10-15% voter shift to non-PAP (more a protest level signal than anything else), not the level of backfire to overthrow the present ruling party. Because sadly, the opposition is currently made up of bigger clowns than our 4G PAP candidates in which there are a few jesters hiding behind the skirts of a GRC.. ATM I and many Singaporean would feel our 4G Ministers are not justifying their million dollar salaries amidst other world leaders Demonstrating far more capabilities and clear leadership quality for 1/4 or 1/5 the salary which is showing the true world class talent current in competition. I am almost certain of the usual results in Singapore at worse a smaller majority. The question is on the next election cycle, if Singapore doesn't recover from the post outbreak recession, we could be talking govt change if PM Lee steps down. Because the 4G ministers are not that outstandingly special vs our 1/2/3G leaders. If we are still in recession by the GE following in 5 years. PAP could still be the biggest party but the risk of it still being a majority party could be in doubt. If growth returns, naturally business as usual for the PAP for the next 10 years.

Some are saying PAP doing a good job They probably do better than maybe 70% of other nations also battling covid 19 but that means they are doing worst than other 30% BUT they are still asking for the #1 salary in the world. Since they can't perform, they really should lower their salaries. If they want #1 salary than they must come out with the #1 strategy to get the country back to normal and battle covid 19 at the same time.

Use Singpass to coordinate voting at the nearest CC. Elections could be held over a longer period as people book a time and venue to go vote so that this can be done safely to minimise exposure to the virus. Volunteers can go door to door at blocks to inform the elderly and allow them to use mail-in voting in case they are PC illiterate. As it is the SG government is authoritarian, but has the upside of having the people's trust and support amidst a crisis. It would only be fair to take measures to uphold the constitution so that the government can continue to remain in the good graces of its citizens.
