@@jerryalexander8803 I wouldn't doubt your right, he's definitely got the intangibles but that doesn't always translate to the NFL and even if it does, it usually takes time, not many come out like CJ Stroud did last year. They use to develop QBs before they throw them to the wolves and I think it's ruined many young QBs and I think they are developing Hooker the right way by putting him behind Goff for a couple years. I do hope they find a way to use Hooker, maybe some specialty plays eventually designed for him but I don't think they are going to trade him. Goff got Jamo the ball just fine. Dude catches the ball with his body most of the time. Amazing that a pro can't catch with his hands. Dudes that catch with their bodies are more prone to drops. And Jamo will never high point a f'n ball, ever. He doesn't have the hands for it.

@@MosheGoldbergTheKing It's easy. You can watch a YT video on EVERY SINGLE TARGET that Jamo got and keep count of everything. Goff hits him or puts it in a catchable spot on the majority of deep balls. On 0 - 20 yd passes, Jamo tries to catch it with his body, almost every single time. There is a game where Jamo has a deep ball literally hit him in the face. In all of the 2023 season, Jamo high-pointed 2 contested balls and caught them with his HANDS. TWO. The rest were body catches. Watch the vids though, he struggles to catch a f'n ball with his hands. His drops are f'n astounding. He has a 9.8% drop rate. That's well over the average. Anson said Jamo will never be an 8-10 catch guy. You know nothing about football if you're spewing this kind of garbage. Saying that he doesn't have the hands to do so! Jamo didn't have drop issues in college. He definitely didn't have drop issues when went for 79 receptions, 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns. He missed a year due to an ACL injury and then some time due to gambling. Seems to me that he got injured and was a little immature. It isn't out of this realm to assume the 12th overall pick was very rusty. But to say that he will never be anything more than getting a couple of explosive plays once or twice a game is outrageous. His hands improved drastically the more time he spent on the field and when he started taking his craft seriously by working with Amon-Ra. What a ridiculous take by Anson. If you watched the games last year, there were plenty games where Jamo was wide open and Goff refused to throw him the ball. I think Ben Johnson has been scheming up plays for him but Goff refuses to throw his way because of his tunnel vision for Amon-Ra. Don't say Jamo can't be a 8-10 catch guy when the QB won't throw to him or struggles connecting with him on deep balls down the field. I mean for goodness sake, Goff threw the ball to Reynolds way more and look how that turned out for you Lions fans. Good chance if Goff threw to Jamo more during that game, Lions make the Superbowl. But he struggles terribly to get Jamo the ball. I've never heard a top tier QB say I need to develop chemistry with a WR for two years just to get him the ball. That is the craziest thing I've ever heard lol. Mahomes would never. Stroud would never. Burrow would never. Rodgers would never.

someone please explain this. Even if your answer is getting back some draft picks this makes no sense. Good Qbs are hard to find and even better back-ups are even fewer. If hendon is everything they say he is they will not move off of him as he is their future. It would make sense to learn behind Goff for another 2-3 years. If Goff gets injured he can come in and get reps and we can see. I swear some fans just jump at the fact "yea lets trade him now that we signed Goff long term." No, you still need an insurance policy in place and Sudfeld is not that.

Not seeking to bash Maz but his question, or even desire, to trade Hooker has to be looked at with some scorn. Most teams don't have a good starting QB and is probably a reason why that team has no real playoff hopes. Some others might win games and even make the playoffs with a good starter, like Goff, but will see their season tank if that starter gets hurt. Now, Detroit has Super Bowl aspirations. It'd be stupid to bet all that on one guy, Goff, being completely healthy all season. Yes, he's been healthy - and lucky? - since coming to Detroit. But is Maz willing to bet the 2024 season on that continuing. It'd be folly to do so. Thus, you keep Hooker, who might development into a top-notch backup. I mean, he has all the athletic skills. So, who knows? Also, look at his contract. After paying Goff, Sewell and St. Brown, you need to balance the books with cheap rookie deals or veterans on affordable short-term contracts. Compare Hooker and our former No. 2 quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Teddy was here on a one-year, $3 million deal. Hooker, after being drafted in the third round, is ours for a total of four years for about $1.5 million per season. Overall, there's NO REASON to deal Hooker. In fact, quite the opposition. Not sure Maz fully realizes the subtleties of building a complete roster, top to bottom, with solid depth and contingencies for possible injuries, etc.

1) Nate Sudfeld is NOT an acceptable backup QB. 2) Lions owe it to themselves to give Hooker a good look thru camp & pre-season 3) OTOH if someone calls up & offers me at least a 2nd, make that trade.

Hendon Hooker learned from his father Alan Hendon Hooker Sr., who is a North Carolina A & T Hall of Fame quarterback. Hendon Hooker also learned this summer from Teddy Bridgewater. In between learning the quarterback position from his father, Hooker Sr. and Teddy Bridgewater, Hendon Hooker is very close to the Manning Family! You know Archie, Peyton and, Eli that particular Manning Family. Hendon Hooker is a camp counselor at the Manning Family quarterback camp. He is also cool with Jared Goff. I think Hendon will be a very good quarterback

For the right deal, of course Holmes would trade him. The Lions most lethal weapon is Brad Holmes with lots of draft picks. Yes, if the Lions could pull 2 or 3 draft picks, one high two late, for Hooker, I would make that deal in a heartbeat.

Brad Holmes doesn’t look at 3rd picks as the end all be all he traded a future 3rd for Manu this year he traded up to get Brodric in the third last year he took hooker in the third because he feels he can get value in any round 6th round 5th round it don’t matter

The return on Hooker would be 0. He’s unproven. He wasn’t a particularly highly drafted guy and he was known to have injury issues. This isn’t even Matt Flynn. He would have to have some ridiculous game to prove you could get something from him,

We should not trade him. If Jared Goff can continue to play and not get injured is one thing, which we cannot foresee, but if by some chance that Goff gets injured, who will we have? Definitely not sudfeld, we have seen his skill set and I don’t think that he will beat out Hooker.

LOL Hooker needs to stay with the lions for the next three years. You can control Goff better. Remember you’re in the business to win games not make Goff happy. It gives a chance at options cheaply. Through these next three years. Hendon is a much better runner, and has a better touch throw.

This is a weird conversation and i can't even believe ya having it. Why in the fxxk would you trade a second year qb just because you signed your number one? You have him under contract the next 2 years. Goff contract isn't that crazy after the first 2 years they could eat money and bring in Hendon if Goff starts to regress and they get to see his progression. This is negativity that gets threw on our media because ya always thinking something negative. This shouldn't even be a discussion
