My best guess about that would be that they didn’t have the ability to do a slow motion replay right then and there on set. They definitely could’ve done it in post production, but that could’ve detracted from the flow of the show. (Coming from an editors perspective)

We had 99% of the technology we have today that impacts our quality of life, yet not so much that we are over involved with tech. It was all strong and durable, and still raw and mechanical, yet advanced enough to do everything for the most part that technology does for us now
