It's not about marketing it's about doing what's right. Jagr is 2nd all time in points. He did things as a player that only guys like Gretzky and Mario did. He is the greatest European born player of all time. He should go in immediately.

And yesterday, in the second match of the Czech league, he added the game-winning goal to his assist.

Jags and Sid should be the next two who have the waiting period lifted

Jagr should have his jersey retired league wide.

Jagr won the Art Ross 5 times in 7 year period. He was the best player during that time. That window includes his 149 point season (most points ever by a winger) which was surprisingly one of the two seasons he did not win the trophy.

The funny thing is crosby will maybe going in the same year than jagr 🤣

There was a point in time it was believed the only way for Jagr to retire was to have him duel whichever other very best player in the world and see whose heads would pop off, lightnings would ensue and music from Queen would blast off. Here we aaaaare !

As a hockey fan from the UK, I am offended that "the British league doesn't count", this is a league that Theo Flury has played in (at the same time as Hand), the standard isn't as bad as you make out. The fact the Sheffield Steelers have won the last 3 CHL games this season should tell you a lot! I can indeed confirm Tony Hand was a very good player (probably the best Brit to ever play the game), he was still playing at the top level in the UK into his 40's. As he played for my team (Sheffield Steelers), I had the fortune to watch him on many occasions and he was easily as good as most of the former NHLers who came over and played in the UK. He was on a similar level to Ken Priestlay who won 2 cups with the Pens in the early 90's!

They should absolutely lift the waiting period on Jagr. What he has meant to the NHL and hockey in general is too great, imo. He's been playing in Kladno in order to help keep the team afloat after taking over ownership from his father. His whole life has been hockey. He deserves to get his flowers the moment he hangs his skates up for good, period, end of story.

They technically cant

Throwing this out there: Make a silver jubilee clause (or whatever year you want). If it's been 25 years since a player entered the league, that should be good enough. The right thing to do is wave it and vote mario in a second time as an owner or builder so they're enshrined together again.
@silgarfАй бұрын
The answer is no following Gretzky's induction, the Board of Directors determined that the waiting period would no longer be waived for any player except under "certain humanitarian circumstances
@kurtwpgАй бұрын
IIRC, they changed the rules so the period cannot be waived. I'd be fine with making a change, if it didn't mean they could suddenly put Crosby and Ovechkin in as soon as they retire. Something common sense, like immediately after retirement if you're over age 50. Might end up never applying to anyone else, but it's a good compromise. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Ovechkin play til he's 43 then spend another 7 or 8 years in the KHL.

Are you guys saying he shouldn't be delayed entering in the hall, so he can play as a hhof player against a regular player? Because naively, I think that's what you're arguing, and I think that's wrong. No one should have to play against a hall of fame player, he has to stop playing, and he hasn't done that yet. It's not the NHL Hof either, No One should play against a hhof player. I'd argue the eligibility should start when the players are deceased, but there's so many players who became coaches, scouts, etc, I've lost this argument, but at least, and you guys are kicking the hhof down for the one time they're consistent... If you can play, you can't be in the hall. Wtf
