Nigel, I would be interested to know how the international referees understand to mischief of the loose head during the scrum - particularly their bind grip, both shoulders being at the same height, the soft inside knee to make it look like a pre-engagement and the role the number 6 plays in turning the props in to pivot scrums. We see the props focused upon for conceding the penalty but it is the No 6 doing the do.

On the scrum half question, I think you can't tackle the 9 because you are probably part of the ruck and are there off side, if you want to tackle the scrum half you must come from last man's feet.

Is collapsing a maul illegal or not? When a defending team holds up a tackle, creating a maul, they then collapse it and are given possession of the ball. Should this collapsing of the maul not be a penalty?

If the ball is out, why would you want to tackle anyone not in possession of the ball? Just go pick it up. If you need to put a shoulder into them to reach it, fine. Just be sure that you're not attempting to tackle them but simply reaching for the ball.

4:00 How direct the hit to the head is doesn't determine the force of the hit. The force of the hit determines the force of the hit. Between that and the 'forward passes are OK because of momentum', really does show that rugby officials can't do physics.

You’re the one that doesn’t understand physics here. 1st: Indirect head contact will always have less force than direct contact if the force applied initially is the same. This is due to a reduction in momentum/dissipation of energy during the initial contact. If indirect head contact has more force than the initial contact, then extra force was applied during the motion, and that would deem it more dangerous. 2nd: Momentum is considered in the forward pass because in the rest frame of the passer, the ball is flat or backwards. If it’s ‘back out of the hands’ then this will be enough for it to be called a backwards pass, and rightfully so.

@@george6531 there's a game line, if momentum carries the ball over it then the balls gone forwards. It's that simple. And the force of the hit decides the force of the hit. You're stupid to think that all rugby collisions are equal.

@@iseriver3982 Except that is not the law, so it doesn’t matter what you think is right. Momentum can carry the ball fowards but the pass can be back out of the hands. It’s that simple. End of story. Yes the force does decide and that this the point. The argument here was that the force was reduced enough to warrant a yellow due to it being an indirect impact. I haven’t seen the hit I am simply explaining the decision, so you cannot have any issue with my explanation.

An easier way to explain the tackling the 9 question is that if the ball is out and the 9 is not in possession, usually what is penalised, you have to pick up the ball not play the player. The 9 ins'ti n possession so you can't tackle him. If it is out and he is touching in possession you can tackle him. If the ball is in and he is touching the ball you can't tackle him until he "plays" the ball making it out.

Ok so those stormers were offside for that try in the final, and as a bulls supporter that's the way I saw it, but then the try from Evan Roos itself, was that a double movement? I saw something similar in the U20s recently and they called it no try. The only difference I can possibly see is in the U20 game they said the attacker had lost momentum, and I guess Roos still had some momentum but it sure looked like he propelled himself forward on his knees

Why, if a player is sent off for head contact is the contacted player not automatically sent for an HIA?

If you Are able tackle the scrumhalf immediately at a ruck then you must necessarily be offside because you must either be behind the rearmost feet or bound in the ruck.
