Something about question who is responsible for the war and why there is a difference between Czech Republic and Slovakia. Czechs (maybe because they are less religious and mostly atheist and have some empty place inside waiting to be filled) were always more committed to the cause and more with the flow. They were really hard communists when it was in fashion, now they are hard pro westerners. Slovaks are mostly conservative Christians (obviously in European sense, not some retarded US kind) and they do not change their believes so easily (no ideological turncoats). What is also important is that after many years of socialism people can smell bullshit from a distance, a simple propaganda that sweeps westerners from their feet would not work here. If you try to tell people what they should think they would laugh you up. Any attempts at controlling the information and censorship from EU or other parties are seen as antidemocratic and totalitarian.

What you said about the dependence of far too many people in the U.S. upon slave or near slave labor, is absolutely true, and unfortunately a very long, unaddressed tradition. What is especially bad about it, is that many victims have been and still are children, such as those being employed in the meat packing industry and slaughterhouses, right now. Care to guess which states employ the most children, even try to legalize this, on a per capita basis? I was doing some family history research last week and came across an ancestor who, after his father died, was not returned to his family but made an "indentured servant" for 10 years. Note criminals transported and sold as indentured servants in the Caribbean had a sentence of 7 years, typically. I wrote about this last week in my husband's and my newsletter. It is our elected representatives, whether it was colonial assemblies or today's state legislatures and the U.S. Congress who have allowed this and done nothing about it. It is the right and obligation for CONGRESS to secure our borders AND ensure we are not using slave or near slave labor, a lot of which is emigrants, legal and not. WE, the PEOPLE are responsible for our elected legislatures and Congress. The President cannot make laws of any kind, including to make hiring illegal immigrants a felony, nor can he increase the amount of paid judges to hear legitimate asylum cases. We, the PEOPLE need to insist our elected legislatures and Congress do their jobs of enacting effective legislation--and giving the enforcers, etc. the budget to make the legislation work. We've allowed this situation to be nothing more than re-election campaign issues and put my party in control instead of the other guys, with no real action, far too long--at the greatest expense of people who have been already traumatized and have suffered enough, especially children. Shame on the U.S. people--all of us! By the way, if you want to see the article I wrote, it's in the AmeriCeltic.net newspaper and on our website under topics, etc.. I'm sorry to the rest of EU for the elections in my country. The reason why Fico's Smer-SD party won is in the fact, that the vast majority of his electorate are simple-minded villagers and old (60+) pensioners who view the communist era with extreme nostalgia. They remember only that the state provided them "everything" (the reality was that even the most basic things like toilet paper were things, that you had to reserve in advance in the shop, if you had some friend working there, or you wouldn't get them within one - three days from when it was delivered to that shop) without them having to actually work for it (even though being employed was mandated by the state and you would be imprisoned if you didn't have a job, the real value of any individual employee was totally minimal because there were just too many people for one job so most of the time, few people actually did the job and the others were just doing nothing). Also, these people are extremely vulnerable to disinformation and political manipulation. And Fico is firstly a master populist and manipulator and secondly the closest thing to being a communist without being able to be actually called a communist. And the second thing is, that even though these elections had a pretty high participation rate (almost 70 percent), the problem is that many young and/or intelligent people either already left Slovakia or they simply resigned on the elections and the fact that anything can change here. Mainly after that chaos and circus which Matovič (previous prime minister/chairman of the strongest coalition party) did here in those last 3 years. He was supposed to represent that change for many. But he was always the worst guy you could entrust with power and hope that he will do something good and useful with it... And well, that's how we live in this tiny and mostly insignificant country. What can I say, not the best place you could live in 😅 But certainly not the worst.

It is sad that what should be good information institutions turn out to be so bad and misinforming. Now any dissent opinion from the main narrative is immediately pro-Russia. That's a odd reading of history. You might not think that the wars in between 1945 and now were just, but you are forgetting what the Cold War was like and seem to be forgetting about the Bosnian genocide and the global situation around 9/11. If you were living in a world where nuclear missiles are constantly aimed at your head and Soviet leaders say menacingly hostile and expansionist things to your leaders on a routine basis, you might have very much thought the Vietnam war was justified. The intervention in Bosnia and Kosovo are generally agreed to be justified because of repeated genocides. And the initial war in Afghanistan after 9/11, I would think, would be considered just as well by most people. So forgive me for scoffing a bit at your phrase "the US has been looking for a just war since WWII.". Its fairly clear, the US leaders have believed that all these conflicts were just, even if you disagree.
