I'm all for players having a choice to play because it's a professional sport and the kid has a lot to lose if he gets seriously injured in a rep game. That doesn't feed his family and could end his career. That could happen first round next year too anyway....however as a mortal that never made the grade and I think I'm speaking for all of us that didn't, we'd all strap on a QLD or Australian jersey tomorrow if picked ......

Last time I checked players WORK for the club that pays them. They don't WORK for the ARL.

Who pays the clubs ? The clubs sign collective bargaining agreements with the governing body and they and the players have certain obligations if they want their slice of the TV rights money etc. One part of the agreement is that unless there is a valid excuse players must be made available for rep footy.

The leagues club or if they are privately owned then the owners and they get a share of the TV revenue paid by us supporters so at the end of it all the supporters pay.

In regards to the Ponga show it's the club CEO, manager/dad,an all the dead wood on the board 😮the club hob nobs should be sacked after 4 years of building which hasn't gone nowhere an now let all your players go to other clubs😅😅😅 feel for the knights diehards watching their club go backwards,your coach has to go that's why you can't attract premium players
