Fear God? Look to the Two Commandments of Jesus Christ! Love the Lord with all your heart and soul and mind! That means that there is NO ROOM for fear! The proper translation of the word which became “fear” should have been “respect!” (Remember, the original texts of the Bible were written in several languages, Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek… ) Intertwined with the First Commandment is the Second! Love Thy neighbour as Thyself! Loving yourself means being comfortable within your own “skin,” so that you can empathize with others! Who is my neighbour? Everyone on this planet!

I think he is talking about the fear of not having an intimate relationship with God.

@@Aliciabpd If you love your neighbour as you love yourself, then you love God! Too many pastors are likely to be out to scare their followers! I remember my mother telling me about attending a revival meeting given by a visiting evangelist in her local church when she was a shy teenager! As others answered his altar call, this man singled out my mother to come forward! She was much too shy to move! He then thundered at her, “Go to Hell, girl! Go to Hell!”
