It's back. This time on FM24. The DOF save sees us take the reigns at Paris FC, but in this save we'll be taking on the role of Director of Football / Sporting Director only. We'll be handling the recruitment and contracts, and crucially, the appointment of a head coach that will run all matters on the pitch. The objective of this save is simple. Topple PSG and become the best team in France.

Keep him. It's natural to take a step back in the league when our squad isn't deep and we added European competition. Give him one more year. Guti could well be a club legend, we'll have a good idea in a year. Plus, he just won us the first major trophy in CLUB (not just save, but all PFC) history. In real life, fans would be shocked to see a manager sacked after doing something no one has ever done for the club. I also think Simeone is unrealistic. His last 3 clubs (in save) are all big clubs: Atletico, Arsenal, PSG. Even for revenge, our reputation is too big of a step down.

Ronaldo only has a national A licence - if you get that improved his stats will go way up. Maybe get him in as a youth team manager and train him up to potentially take over in the future?

Thiago Motta is probably the best option overall, but I think Guti deserves another year. Cristiano you should get on the club though, he could become a good manager later and If you get him as U23 he could become the Assistant Manager later if needed

Is it me or does the Simeone appointment make sense; looking at his in real life track record took Atleti to the next level with them being in the Europa (not to dissimilar to us) and was able to guide and build them up and the revenge narrative fits his personality and persona and on top of that if it were real life and he has experience in France wouldn't have to relocate and Paris FC would be an appealing project irl i.e. Carlo Ancelotti taking on early PSG or even the Mourinho links to Newcastle recently

Clayts. Loving what you’re putting down, as ever. Here are my key thoughts/answers to your questions. 1. Congratulations on the win. However, I’m not really pro Guti anymore. I feel like he’s taken this club as far as he can, both talent and story-wise. However, respectfully, I think some questions need to be asked of your recruitment. It’s very exciting and I like the players, but eventually you need to start supplying some players actually in their prime if you’re going to catch PSG, who are stocked to the nines with already realised quality. Not suggesting going overkill, but you get financial backing and the odd smattering of stardust, a la Martial in Ligue 2, is both realistic and essential to the next phase of growth. Someone like Manu Kone, or a proven striker to take the burden off Kuse Asare (looks great but not prolific enough yet). 2. Re the manager question, I don’t think it’s unrealistic at all to use the editor to appoint a proper manager. Within the narrative you’ve constructed i.e. that you are the director of football and Paris FC have become a champions league team, its actually more unrealistic to appoint the likes of Fernando Torres etc. with so little experience. I’m not saying necessarily get Simeone because this isn’t that kind of club, but someone like Motta or Gattuso would be exciting and in keeping with the in game logic. 3. You didn’t use the in game editor to hire Will Still, he was happy to come as it predated his real life hot streak impacting his in game reputation. I was rapt to the Spurs DOF save.

The form in February was bad and looked like the reason why it wasn't similar or more points than last season, but it was what 5-6 points less this season. But maybe there is some context to that form like injuries (or just a bad run). I think I would be inclined to give another season because the form seemed affected in one month cluster rather than it being average across the whole season, especially with the Champions League knockouts and cup final. I think after next season it'd make more sense to ask questions if needed.

Agree with a few comments mentioning Thiago Motta - and believe he is an ex-PSG player as well. You maybe need to upgrade Lafont at GK - the red cards might have had an impact in some results but there seem to be a few too many games where you concede a lot. Even in the final, Nice got 2 goals from 2 shots on target and just over 1XG.

Lol man, I can't help but feel like you actually want to get rid of Guti. 😉 If you do, I think the realistic options are Gattuso, Motta, Kompany. The Simeone angle is sick but a tad too much, plus Gattuso or Motta are good stories. You gotta keep him though I reckon. But fortune does favour the bold...

I feel torn. Probably a good idea to mix it up after a weaker season than last. But I feel it would be very harsh to sack Guti. I'm leaning towards one more season for him, let him have a go at the Europa League (which is probably PFC's level, rather than the UCL), and if he doesn't get top 2/3 this season, move him on.

Pretty normal for a first season in European football to see a bit of a decline in the competition. With the added experience and some new players to help the squad forward, I think you might need to give Guti one more season, but do keep a look out to possible new assman

I’d say give him another year. If the season isn’t ideal then I’d fire halfway through the season. But considering you had more games to deal with since you qualified for the CL, it be harsh to get rid of him.

I will carry on watching either way as I like the dof idea, and it’s even better this season with psg being the target. but I am not a fan of using the editor to appoint the assistant , part of the fun and underdog story is having to think outside the box to get a well suited manager

I feel that though its a little strict, its not unrealistic to shoot higher after a few seasons. I think the best candidate is Kompany for his history with Bernly in the Championship (even if his game numbers are not amazing) But MAN the story with Simeone is unrealistic, like Zidane managing Getafe if fired from Real

Ancelotti is also an outlier I feel when it comes to big reputation at a smaller club - thinking about another recent example from a smaller job to new money Eddie Howe to Newcastle. Sack the manager after progression in the champions league, staying in European places and winning a cup after being promoted fairly recently? Jeez I don't want you as my boss! Why bother taking a risk on someone new? I don't see any upgrades in that list. Even if Guti had won the league this season with PSG's slip wouldn't that be a boring short series? Gattuso is the best option but it feels cheesy to me to bring him in. I don't feel like he'd be interested in real life. Same with Simeone. I would recommend bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo into your B team though and give him his coaching badges. He can step up as a caretaker assistant manager if/when your patience runs out with Guti. I think the team needs a star striker. Potentially looking for someone who doesn't fit the profile of what you're looking for at the moment - especially if you're looking to compete with PSG this year. Team is too inexperienced
