I think they completely missed the point of C Pyles criticism that they are talking to children. And that ridiculing children about an important decision, puts pressure on the kids. "We're not making them do anything". Okay but there is no way you think that it's better to bring it up with the kid first and then the parents second. "My college coach was a second father" Yeah dude when you were 22 years old

Being held back for sports is just dumb. The tiny number of kids whose lives are made better by it does not make up for the damage caused. But in any case, you don’t talk to kids about such private matters and call them out in front of others. If you don’t understand this, you shouldn’t be a coach. Doesn’t matter if he’s producing regional winners, he shouldn’t be a coach.

this is a hot topic even within the education world. interesting topic on many levels. my biggest struggle is that no one wants to admit the holdback can have some downsides. maybe the upsides outweigh the downsides but that also might not be the case for every situation. does a superior glorified stacked childhood success story lead to future depression? idk. i wasn't an elite anything but also stomached the downsides and find fulfillment in where my life is today. as a parent i want my children to enter a world where the deck is completely stacked against them, me not be anywhere near them to provide support, and regardless of their success or failure they can find inner strength to move forward. what are the metrics for evaluating benefits of holding kids back? do those metrics align with your pursuit to happiness?

I think it’s just dumb. If you are talented enough for being held back to hypothetically benefit you, you are already the top .0001% where it will not effect you anyways. And if you’re not good enough for it to “help” you then what’s the point? I guess regardless it is just dumb. Also who wants to go to school for a year more than necessary?

Being held back for sports is weird. When I hear that wrestlers do this, I almost see it as a way of cheating and a sign of weakness. Let’s face it, they’re not doing it for academic reasons or to be more mature. They’re doing it as a way to get an advantage over another athlete. Wrestlers are the toughest people out there, no need to be doing this stuff. Honestly, I would be embarrassed to tell people I was held back to win matches.

False. I was held back in 8th grade and im happy i did. The first weight class in high school is 106. I was 80 pounds i needed that year to mature and grow. I had a june birthday and was already super young for my grade. An extra year to mature and grow was extremely beneficial to my development
@Jimmy81RАй бұрын
@@jakewohltman8195 I was 86 lbs as a freshman and wrestled 103 lbs at that time. My birthday is August 14th so I get the being younger part. I struggled a lot, but to be held back is not something that even crossed my mind. In those days, that wasn’t really a thing. I felt like those struggles and losses are what made me stronger. I worked out hard in the summer, grew more, and came back the next season at 112 lbs. Unfortunately, life isn’t always fair.

It’s definitely because Crosby wanted a stupid amount of money to run this podcast.. I remember Cayden told Crosby on a podcast he would have paid him 10k for the summer to run clash of combat.. Crosby went home this summer so I’m assuming he didn’t accept the 10k for 3 months work smh.. Ik Crosby is one of Caydens good friends but if u actually want this podcast too survive u need a new host.. Crosby knows next to nothing about wrestling and doesn’t watch college or international wrestling.. personally I would way rather see someone with some wrestling credentials and someone that actually wants to grow the sport.. Big Warchek or parksides 125lb would be my choices for a co-host

that was a terrible interview guys. You didn't really ask him any questions you just let them ramble the whole time. They don't put any emphasis and education. It's only to win national titles or state titles. They might not be holding them back for that extra money, but they're holding them back so they can win.sad. also, the problem wasn't whether or not to hold back or not, it was the way he was ridiculing the kids talking about crayon on their birth certificate and all kinds of other stupid shit. Unprofessional and a low level role model.
