This eases my mind a bit. I was slowly starting my VO journey because i was overly worried about editing it to perfection. My new goal is ”good enough”, not perfect. I am a voice actor, not an audio engineer

Not gating, but expanding (not too much; like a compressor, but the opposite) helps with cleaning and enhancing presence. Try it!

Thanks for the fantastic advice! One bit of advice for you regarding your KZbin videos - if you are going to continue to use that sound effect when cutting to and away from a cutaway, at least lower it's volume.

More great advice. Thanks man. Found the music a little distracting at points though. Took focus from your voice a bit. All love tho bro.

Thanks and yes I hear that, I’ve been struggling with my editor to find better non copywrited music, and to lower the volume so it’s less present and more just background. I’ve tried without music and it just isn’t the same. But I’ll definitely try to dial it in for y’all!

@@jessecarrollvoiceovers yeah actually!! I've been practicing my reads and trying to find my comfortable voice, and I feel like I'm getting good enough to want to send it and try to get to recording a at home demo for myself. The one thing that I'm really stuck on is how to find scripts I can use for my demo. I'm trying to get a demo for Online ads/commercials and dubbing/animation. I got all the motivation to record this stuff for my demo, but then I'm at a stand still when it comes to what to use as script for both. All advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks Allison! I know you’re pretty tech savvy but you’re getting enough work now that I think you should hire George or Jordan to set up a couple audio chains for you - one for auditions and one for mastering a job if a client asks for it. It’ll take the guess work out and will sound mint!
@TheFyre9 ай бұрын
Awesome advice thank you! But a question... how do you audition for 50-60 auditions a day AND still have time to actually perform the work you're getting?
@jessecarrollvoiceovers9 ай бұрын
I record 5 to 10 at a time, not one at a time, one after another in rapid fire, and I edit them after. I’ve done 3 x 1 hour live sessions in a day and still was able to get in 60 auditions, it really doesn’t take that long. But don’t move as fast as I do until you are booking consistently as I’ve done so many that I know what they’re looking for by quickly scanning the script - which come with experience. I would say shooting for 30 a day to start as a newbie is very achievable, but do then 1 at a time until you get the experience and feel comfortable moving quickly.

Hi Jesse! I'm glad I came across your channel. I definitely subscribed. Really like your video on how you got started with VO. I'm brand new to the world of VO, and was wondering if you could make a video on your current setup sometime in the future to help give beginners like myself an idea of what to shoot for in a work station.
@jessecarrollvoiceovers9 ай бұрын
Hi Matt! Thanks for the feedback and for subscribing! I actually did a short Instagram video with what my setup is, but I can definitely expand on that for KZbin, and talk more about WHY I use the gear that I have. It’s actually more attainable to get a top of the line set up than you think. You can rent most of the gear you need, especially a top of the line mic, from a music store. But I’ll talk more about it in the video! Thanks for the suggestion!

@jessecarrollvoiceovers Awesome! I definitely look forward to that and all your upcoming videos.
