1-2 years!? I graduated from college May, 1979. I left for OTS around second week in October. Class 80-03. I was at a small annex near Lackland. It was called Medina. No way I would participate in this process and basically put my life on hold for 2 years and still not get accepted. But I joined at a unique time that the Air Force had a lot of officer openings. I would not do it today. FYI. The rated OTS trainees went to a small base near Lackland 6 weeks earlier than non-rated trainees and received their PPL for FREE. But just another of the endless hoops needed to complete this program.

Why wouldn’t you do it today? Just because of the delay?

There is a reason veteran suicides are at record levels and none of the services can make their recruiting goals.

Those facts scare me. As well as climate change.

Hello Elias Barry! Great video, it was very helpful. I’m a year away to finish my MBA and I would like to start my process to commission as an officer. What are my chances to choose the career I want at the Air Force? (PA)
@Brian-ro7st Жыл бұрын
totally depends on what career you want but that info is readily available online

Is it likely for an Air Force recruiter to advise a civilian they must enlist because their degree is "useless"? I have a BA in psychology with almost a decade of administrative experience. I am interested in joining whether it be Active Duty or Reserve. However, I am 32 and I want to make most of the time left to serve. Would you say it's worth to enlist first, gain experience, and then apply to OTS despite the cut in pay? Or is it worth going for OTS directly knowing I don't have the previous military background based on how many years I would have left to serve on the military?

Great question, i’m on the same boat I am 29 yo and have a Bachelors In Hospitality and Management ( which I think is even less useful) I’m also looking into joining directly int OTS even that I have none Military experience

What happens to people who get selected as rated officers but then fail the flight physical? Do they get kicked to the curb or become nonrated officers subject to the needs of the service?

any info about commissioning as a medical doctor?
@philspaseo23772 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to go straight to AFOQT before meps medical? Also I’m getting tossed around to get my application started, any advice for officer reserves ? Positions are rarely available and slim chances for non rated positions due to covid pullback. However I just want to start to take the AFOQT, my nearest officer recruiter is 120 miles away.

Any ANG or Reserve recruiter is a little hard to join they dont care if you join or not so you must chase them down. Active is opposite recruiter will chase you lol

Does the airforce do 24hours duty? Such as charge of quarters or staff duty? Just curious 🤔

Stop with the acronyms. Idk what you’re saying half the time

Do your research. If you can’t figure simple things like acronyms out for yourself then this career probably isn’t for you
