Greetings from Poland! This car is a very big part of our culture here (The 126p verison), it was made from 1973 to 2000

Greetings! I loved my time in Poland and got to enjoy driving a 126p there as well while doing a Nowa Huta tour. I just owned my white 126 at the time. Now I've had this one and been and gone, just got my yellow series 1 left now!
@Adam-lw5mr11 ай бұрын
good luck with the sale, cant wait for more 126 content on the yellow one (if you get round to it)
@OGCars11 ай бұрын
Thank you! We are 100% going to do the yellow one but it’s going further back in the queue because the engine I was making for it has had some setbacks - some lost in post Belgian parts have unfortunately pushed it back until next year now as I’ll likely find some other parts for it in Italy instead! We shall see…

I have a 126BIS, smashing car, reliable, easy to park, good heater, easy to work on as no engine management systems. 24Hp, Real headturner, who needs a ferrari. Just a shame road tax is so expensive for such a small car, thanks Jeremy H
@OGCars8 ай бұрын
Good to hear, great cars! BIS 0.7 did it even better - 26hp compared to 24 in the 650 air cooled! Thankfully my air cooled ones are exempt from tax now but the BIS still has a way to go unfortunately and the tax is one of those annoying blanket bands being a classic!
@Realrandomman8 ай бұрын
Road tax is absurd for a 704 cc car which does over 50 mpg and weighs just over 600 kgs. It passes the emissions test but tax is £200.
@OGCars8 ай бұрын
@@Realrandomman it is! All under 1.55(?) ish are tarred with the same brush for classic, and any above that engine size is even more, regardless of any mpg or emissions etc. Silly, yes, but sadly the way!

What you might not know is the Fiat 500R had a smaller carburettor so the 126 still had more power (ehm... power). I have a 500R ('76) must be one of the last ones. Mine I have souped up though. You can get kits with bigger cilinders up to 800cc. Ever tried 100mph in one of these... yeah you can because there's also a 5-speed conversion available. Bring diapers!

IMB26 or 28 perhaps rings a bell? Without looking it up! I know the R had the same style wheels as the series 1 126 as well! I am doing a build on my other 650cc but still waiting for parts to come in, I've got a Swiatek rally cam and Panda 30 head/Weber Panda 30 carb and a Michael Speeder exhaust, I was meant to have Bambino tinwork but unfortunately lost in post so back to the drawing board on that one!

I'm not particularly mechanically inclined (although, I really enjoy your videos), so I guess I'll have to stay with my Volvo :( I have Polish ancestry, my dream was to buy and drive my Maluch to Poland. Should I keep it as a dream, or go for it? :)

I recommend learning a bit more if you go into the 126 world as bits will inevitably go wrong but that's the same with lots in the classic car world! I would still recommend the 126 to anyone and it's a good car to learn on - grab a Haynes manual and see what you can do!

As much as I love a liquid dinosaur combustor, I think these little fiats make a perfect candidate for an electric conversion.
@OGCars11 ай бұрын
That’s a whole other debate and some cars I think really shouldn’t be converted, but I don’t think I’d be completely opposed on one of these! Although I do love the original 2 pots…
@lsstuff73511 ай бұрын
For me I think it depends mostly on how many of the classic there are and, where possible conversions should be 100% reversible in my opinion. Also I figure that if the only way to make a classic run (due to parts unavailability), I think that it's nicer to see an electric classic than a classic rotting in a shed instead? Some thoughts. Great vid by the way! @@OGCars

The BIS did not have a flat twin, where did you get that from? It had a water cooled inline 2 as opposed to an air cooled inline 2 like the one we can see here.
@OGCars11 ай бұрын
I didn't say flat twin as that would suggest a horizontally opposed engine, I said flat (i.e. the engine is lying flat) two but I suppose this has been easily misconstrued and I could have worded that better! Yes as stated BIS is water cooled but the engine was lying flat to allow for the hatch/luggage space!
