For 30, maybe 40 dollars it could indeed be a nice deal! But as you mentioned, it can really differ from region to region. I just checked my local second hand market and people are seriously asking for 90-120 EURO'S (!) for the 6GB model, 80 euro's for the 4GB model. I'm not sure in what year and world these people are living where that price makes sense for a 9 year old GPU, but I'm currently living in 2024 where those prices don't make any sense. I replaced my RX 580 4 GB a while back with a RX 5700 XT 8 GB. Bought the 5700XT for 150 euro's, although I could get it a little bit cheaper if I had searched a bit more. The 5700 XT seems to fluctuate for around 120 - 150 euros in my region nowadays and it blows the 980 Ti out of the water in both performance and expected driver support, making it a way better deal.

This is the thing with used tech, it is only worth soo much, but it's also only worth soo little, a down side I forgot to mention with the 980 Ti is that it is, in spite of its age, often still a large and physically impressive looking piece of hardware, still a nicer GPU than many "normies" are used to handling... it just means you have to be open to different options when shopping, for say $50 to $80, you will encounter everything from a 980 non Ti, all the way to a 1080 Ti or 5700 XT if u are lucky

It's actually really unfortunate because it means someone who would have been thrilled with that older part can't afford it, which is soo wasteful

Might be fine for CPU bound games. Interesting, It's a nice looking GPU. Does support DX12.

I think the only game I encountered I'd argue was borderline unplayable was Jedi Survivor, everything else was very playable. I also think part of the problem is people trying to play at 1440/4K... these are 1080p cards, at best

@@dragonsystems5973 MW3 is a miserable experience even on lowest settings 1080p on a 980ti. Wouldn't exactly call it playable, at least for multiplayer.

No you shouldn't cuz its way too power hungru and is very likely to die
@dragonsystems59736 ай бұрын
I have had only one 980 Ti ever die, and it came dead from the seller I got it from... also, I touched on power, but the power consumption of a 980 Ti really should not be a problem for someone with an old 4th gen custom build

@@dragonsystems5973 idk I haven't watched the vid yet, when I first got into pc building which was about a year ago I was consideri g buying a used 980/ti but then realized that those cards were heavily used and mined on and because of high tdp they are very very likely to fail

@@thesmokecriminal5395 I dont know where you got your info, but it is mostly factually wrong. First, the 980 Ti was two years before the first crypto boom, and I dont remember crypto bros desperately trying to get their hands on 980 Tis for mining, it was all about RX480, 580, 470, 570, GTX 1060, 1070, 1080, and 1080 Ti. Second, I have had probably more than 25 of this specific card come through my hands, and they deffinitely dont have reliability problems.. im not saying it was the right card for you now, or was then, but I am saying your reasons are generally not accurate... now, that being said, any card, new or used CAN die, but even today that does not seem to be a problem with Maxwell.... I might suggest staying away from say EVGA Classified/Kingpin models, and any other specifically overclocking oriented model just cause those are more likely to have been overclocked, but thats it

@@thesmokecriminal5395 While some R9 290x cards and some 900 series GeForce cards were mined on, the vast majority weren't. It's not something you should need to worry about. It was nothing like it was when Polaris came out where it seemed like everyone got into mining.
