I'm not sure about DMR reception, but the Ailunce is deaf in analog mode. My Wouxun KG-UV9P (which isn't a digital radio) has better reception on weak signals in analog mode. All I hear is static with the Ailunce HD1 when I can hear the conversation with my Wouxun KG-UV9P
@AdamSWL6 жыл бұрын
Great video! Very informative! Thanks!! Bought an HD-1 based on your recommendation and experiences, as well as Ringway Manchester with his coverage of this model. Continuing to get to know the radio and agree that it is very versatile. One gripe I do have, is that on analogue signals using CTCSS programmed for receive, the HD-1 has one heck of a squelch crash when the signal ceases. Other radios will roll off the squelch on transmission end (reverse tone burst) and no squelch noise is heard. Can be very annoying with lots of short duration overs. Changing the squelch to tight makes no difference. Again, great video and more please!
@radiosification6 жыл бұрын
That's strange. For me it doesn't do that. I just tested it out and the radio stops the audio before the squelch crash. The radio or repeater you're using has to have the feature to do this though so I guess if it's a really basic radio or repeater you're using it might not have it. They send a certain tone at the end of the transmission to tell the receiving radios to stop receiving. Check in your software under basic setting > setting > tail eliminate mode. I have it set to reverse code but try it on both and see if either works for you.

Information on the VFO after programing by computer the VFO will not change modes if the VFO is FM, it will not change to DMR digital to put in frequencies for DMR. the solution I have done is to make one VFO FM and the other Digital , that way you can program in DMR info and save to memory by the front keys and don't need to hook up a computer when you want to add a channel in either mode just use the VFO set to the mode you want.

Be warned that the HD1 can't decode color code and timeslot. Only talkgroup. That is equivalent to being able to scan frequencies on analog but you are stuck with one CTCSS tone. You can't hear anything if your CTCSS tone is not matching. Same case with color code, you can't hear anything unless you have the right color code.

Is there any way to get a message to the mfg and ask them to put the feature in promiscuous mode that will scan and show the DMR setting for the transmissions it receives ? Having the ability to receive a DMR freq and have it show the CC, TS, TG, and Radio ID is something no radio has in it's firmware that I have tested. This seems like a good mfg would put this in their firmware. When you find a freq using DMR, there is no way to know what CC, TS, and TG is being used and it takes a huge amount of time to enter in the 16 CC codes and program 16 channels of the same frequency and scan till you hit on the correct one And if you have multiple users using different color codes it becomes a daunting task to find the right settings and talk groups It seems only logical that they would have in promiscuous mode where a frequency receiving DMR wood display by default these four pieces of information so that you can copy them down and then when another transmission comes across using different settings on the same frequency you can copy those down Etc I have yet to find a radio or even a scanner that does this feature If anyone knows of a radio that has this feature please let me know
@radiosification6 жыл бұрын
All DMR scanners have that feature. The TRX-1 I know for certain has it. You only enter in the frequency and it picks up everything else. I'm pretty sure some transceivers have this feature too. Check if the anytone at-868uv has it. I think it might do but not sure. I asked Ailunce back when this radio came out if they could add a colour code and timeslot promiscuous feature and they said they'd consider it, but it has never happened.

Could you use it as scanner ? I.e. If I scan and hear digital noise and put in digital mode (if possible) I would hear the chat or can't you do that ?
@radiosification6 жыл бұрын
Kinda, but not exactly. Obviously the only digital mode you'd be able to decode would be DMR but the main issue is that you still need the correct colour code and timeslot. There are a total of 16 colour codes, and 2 timeslots. You'd only hear anything if you had the correct combination of colour code and timeslot. Although for amateur repeaters you could just program them in and you'd hear them all fine and be able to scan them if you wanted.

It's tempting, but not for this price, It should honestly be priced the same as other inexpensive radios. People see big battery, big hard plastic case and they instantly think it's some kind of industrial radio that is built like a tank. I am sure initial batches of these radios aimed for hams were made well, but somewhere down the line they started to buy cheap parts and that's where the problems started. Companies like Motorola have the strictest standards when it comes to comes to components and manufacturing. I am not saying we should all own Motorola's, but for companies to try and market their products like Motorola is horrible. "even though this guy says not to cause his a nerd" You realise that I get notifications for each comment on my videos? If you're using a cheap chinese radio as a marine radio then more fool you. You're the one who is risking your life by not buying proper equipment.

@chrishagan37556 жыл бұрын
Timon, the fact of the matter is that the radio is not designed to operate on those frequencies (read transmit mismatch) Simply because a radio is able to transmit on a wide frequency range does not mean that it is optimal on all of those frequencies. I'm sure a true marine band radio with matching marine band antenna will significantly out-perform your TYT in the 156-162Mhz marine band. No one is trying to rain on your parade, it's a real safety concern, legalities aside.
