To stop playing middle C when choosing a keyboard, click the little down arrow to the side of the audition button. It's the right most button underneath the list of keyboards. You will know it will stop playing middle C each time when the outline around the button is gone. It looks like a play button.

I just feel like there are so many phenomenal sounds for (in relative terms) not a ton of money. For the money some people spend on a Nord or a Korg workstation, you could have Keyscape, Omnisphere, Ravenscroft, Pianoteq, some NI stuff, all of which sound way better imo and will probably stay top tier for quite a few years

I have Keyscape and NI Noire, and that's a killer combo for any piano player. One thing I often try in production, is record the midi and layer both NI and Keyscape. Noire with a little bit of C7 Grand is awesome for depth. and Noire felt with a Rhodes classic chorus is weird at the beginning, but when you get the balance right it sounds amazing and very useful in any contemporary pop, RnB or Fusion jazz kind of thing. have a ball and try some of that.

Hello. I've been a subscriber for a few months now. Love your playing and singing. Always learning musically from you. I do have Keyscape. I purchased it a few years ago. I'm also a blind musician, and the fact that the interface isn't accessible for blind users is really bad. For a long time, my dad and I would find my favorite presets and I would save them in the library browser in Logic so I could access them more easier. I do use Voiceover, which is a screen reader built into Apple devices. Last year, I discovered that a developer made NKS presets for Keyscape, which is great because I could use those to access and control the sounds from my Native Instruments MIDI controller. About a few days ago, I discovered Hammer's + Waves, and I immediately got excited. Not because of the sounds and features, but also it was NKS ready out the box. Can't wait to use that pluggin... Maybe it will become my go to all in one piano and keyboard library. It sure sounds amazing! Keep up the amazing work.

I Love Keyscape and use it a lot, but I agree with the "compressed" feeling, I often find myself looking if I have somewhere a compressor kicking in to hard, but then with everything off, it still feels compressed. It feels then as that what I hear is not reflecting what I play (in terms of dynamics). I started using the Grandeur more often, as I really like the sound of it, and it does not give me that compressed perception.

I've had Keyscape about a year and have pretty moderate feelings about it overall. The grand is outstanding for some things, like jazz, ballads, intimate or cinematic styles. But really doesn't work for me for solo piano pieces in more of a classical style. I've written some pieces that I just couldn't use it on. Could be partly because, as mentioned, it's produced, and I want something more raw. Or I want something more ambient and you can't change the mic positioning. Also, the lowest couple octaves have barely any attack. I couldn't use it on a ragtime piece because there was no definition in some of the bass notes. I've also had issues with glitching occurring occasionally when I pedal. I haven't heard anybody else experience this exactly. May be an issue with my system, but it's irritating. The upright I really don't care for. Though I have used the tack version which is nice. It feels way more like a novelty, niche thing, which would be fine but it's the only one in the library. Nord has a very nice collection of colorful and very usable uprights that I prefer. The electric pianos are just phenomenal, nothing more to say. Overall still well worth the purchase (not even mentioning all the cool little weird keyboards in there), but far from never needing another keyboard VST.
@SamTheBeardGuy
@SamTheBeardGuy 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you said. The upright is very niche. But it's not the upright for everything. I love modernu and gentleman for a more normal upright. Electrics are unmatched imo. And I would never advocate using Keyscape for classical music, not the vibe. Thanks for watching!

The problem when you are reviewing stuff is that everything sounds amazing, your playing is outstanding! 😊 And because of that I bought Keyscape. But I don’t like it that much to be honest. As you are pointing at, it’s too produced. I mean it sounds like a toy piano in the midrange when playing the rock preset. And the bass register on the default setting is just a muddy bass. And the upright, not like it at all. My goto is The Grandeur, to me the tone and power you get from it is like from a real grand, and I think it’s so underrated. But in the end it depends on the tune. I’m sure I will use Keyscape on some recordings one day. Again, you are such s great pianist!!! 👍🏻

I love Keyscape for it's E-pianos (Rhodes, Wurlitzer), not so much for the LA Grand C7. For pianos, my go-to VSTIs are the Embertone Walker 1955 and Noire. I prefer the warmer tone of the latter two. I love how the notes I play blend with each other using these two. That said, these two do not cut through a mix well -- something which the Keyscape does with ease.

I was so used to the NI pianos that at first I wasn't particularly impressed with Keyscape. But it grew on me the more I used it and now I rarely use NI pianos. Another interesting thing I found is I can leave Keyscape running for days. NI's Kontact develops odd issues in memory just sitting overnight. And if anyone knows how to turn off that tone in Keyscape when you select a piano please share. That is super annoying!

Keyscape is worth it...for me, at least...simply for the MKS-20 samples, which are amazing. Frankly, I use Ivory and Pianoteq and NI plugs more often than not for piano, but, Keyscape's samples are eclectic and fill a void that I need in my life. Thats simple YES! I have my Keyscape and controller setup, a Kronos, Roland RD and Keyscape is my favorite. If I gigged more, hey I'm retired so mainly play at home then maybe I'd would like the Kronos or RD since their sounds are more about cutting thru in a band. I would say Yamaha sound are also geared towards live. CPU wise never noticed a issue and I'm using an older iMac. For me it's the fullness of the acoustic piano sound that sold me. As for the electric pianos I like quite a few, but not all. Also I live in an apartment and for awhile had a real acoustic piano and volume was always a problem so I got rid of it and got my Keyscape and good woodkey controller and love I can play at any hour and complaints. So that was another big plus for me and Keyscape.

The only issues I've had with Keyscape and CPU is when it's being streamed through a slow USB connection. If it's running off the local harddrive it's fine. The fullness of the grand is amazing, granted some people hate that.

I'll be honest, I don't like Keyscape as much as I thought I would. The piano doesn't even have repedaling, una corda and sostenuto both do nothing when you use them on a keyboard pedal controller and I've found the touch curve and dynamic range is very displeasing after playing better VSTs. This is obviously being quite harsh, I won't say that Keyscape is BAD but it's not as good as other piano VSTs in the same price range.
@SamTheBeardGuy
@SamTheBeardGuy Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've said it a lot in my videos on Keyscape, but it's a producers piano, so it's not going to have the features you're talking about. Half pedal, all of those things, it's missing, but it's not going for that market. Same thing with dynamic range, it's not going for the market that is looking for a realistic wide dynamic range. Not sure if you played around with the dynamic range presets, it has a pretty extensive catalog of keyboard controllers to load the velocity curve presets for the specific piano.
@PiotrBarcz
@PiotrBarcz Жыл бұрын
@@SamTheBeardGuy Yeah I've screwed with the touch curve some, I have a Casio Celviano so it has a completely different response with the real hammer action and everything. I like Rhodes various presets of Netscape but playing a lot of classical music 19 th and 20th century ( ravel , Debussy…) the fact that Keyscape doesn’t support neither half pedalling, soft pedal or sustenato pedal is a deterrent. Majority of advanced pieces of late 19th or 20th century require the use of these pedals .Lot of Chopin pieces require soft pedal and half pedalling if you want to achieve a credible performance, so I simply don’t get it . Sometimes you can get away from sustenato with good half pedalling technique as the lower register gets sustained longer than upper notes with half pedalling but not not supporting either of these indispensable parts of piano playing is very odd. Even in jazz , advanced pianists use the soft pedal for tone change . Keyscape seems to target the cinematic world where the sustain seems to be the only pedal used. But again kudos for the electric sounds , they are top notch , and well done for your videos !

Hey Sam, nice playing! I'll be honest, after spending about half a year with Pianoteq 7 I just can't go back to sampled pianos. There's just something about the modelling they've achieved (especially in version 7) that to my (classically trained jazz pianist) hands feels so real, that I could never get with any other sampled library. As far as Rhodes, my favourite right now is the MK1 from Premier Sound Factory. I love it because it's not so pristine and clear like Keyscape and Scarbee Classic EP-88s and others. So I've kinda given up on Keyscape, and I'm much happier now with Pianoteq and the Mk1. Have you tried these at all? Cheers!

i like pianoteq but the one thing that bugs me about it is the kalimba instrument, i don't think their model really captures how a kalimba sounds.
@lundsweden
@lundsweden Жыл бұрын
It's a very personal thing, I also feel Pianoteq fits what I'm trying to do better. But I think for some people the slightly more realistic tone of Keyscape is probably more important (for them). I like the sound of Pianoteq as it is though.

Great to know your opinion on Keyscape. I haven't bought it... I do have Omnisphere 2. I have enough pianos everywhere else and have never felt the need of buying yet another library. Currently using the pianos on Live 11 and also the XLN Addictive Keys. More than enough for what I need at the moment.

Pianoteq Pro Studio Bundle, Keyscape, Addictive Keys, All UVI crap, All VI Labs crap, Ivory II, all Arturia crap (including the Keylab MK2 controller), various miscellaneous pianos not worth mentioning, and my Kawai MP11SE would all remain unbought (oh, and especially Garritan Abbey Road CFX. I hate that thing and they won't let you sell the license.)
