Should You Buy The FG OR AG 2024 Adidas F50

As seems to be the way at the moment adidas have thrown a tonne of new options at us in the form of the new F50, we have all new tooling options with the new AG plate and brand new fits with the women's high cut F50.

Interesting and surprising to see the ag version are in fact lighter! Good to see nice solid midsole with these. (Unlike Nike with their GX2 AG which fold in the middle like paper, what were they thinking?!) Great reviews man!! Are the ag studs in the new pred the same length as the ag studs on the speedflow? Same shape same plate but are the studs the same length? From photos it seems like they are longer thanks

@@BootWizard interesting, the feedback is all over the place from reviewers lol. I got them in my true to Nike size (8 US) and my “Mizuno” size (7.5 US). The width on the 8.0 is perfect but there’s slightly over half a thumb space at the edge. The length on the 7.5 is snug up to the edge, but the toebox width is a bit cramped and my outer toes are slightly curled. Wondering if the 7.5 would break in enough to make it wider, or if I go with the 8.0

What about the F50 Pro MG? As there is no AG on the pro Version. What do you think about this plate?

Yeah it's a good option if you're always on AG. It's not great for FG/AG

I’ve heard that the flex point of the sole plate on the AG version is awkward compared to the FG. The flex point is my main worry about the boot. Did you notice this issue? ( Heard this from Josh SR4U)

Doesn't feel awkward on feet, it's slightly further back than the FG and maybe slightly further back than I would personally like but I don't think it's a deal breaker for the boot and on feet the difference is minimal.

I just saw the AG model on the Adidas website and it looks like an interesting take on cyclone technology and possibly done better than Nike.

I wouldn't really compare the Nike cyclone 360 to this, they're very different approaches and very different soleplates for different purposes, it does however have some similarities to what Nike have previously done with the boots such as the Magista line.

Sizing depends on if you got the wrong size the first time around! I couldn't tell you to go up or down, it will depend on how the current pair fit.

Hey BootWizard 👋🏾 I bought 2 laceless FG versions in my size 9.5 US, and I'm super satisfied with everything they offer, but I was looking for an AG to be safer on turf fields... Do I go true to size for the ag version, or should I go half a size down since adidas had the ag version that was a bit wider than FG and personally I like super snug fit (one to one sensation with the ball)

Depends on the length, if you're happy with the length in the FG then stick with that in the AG there's very little width difference here

Do u think they should have gone for more aggressive studs on the fg considering that the ag plate is similar enough to the current standard fg layout

Not really, I think the FG soleplate and stud pattern suits the boots and going more aggressive just because there is a less aggressive AG option I don't think makes sense. I prefer the idea of having the best possible FG soleplate to provide the right feel for the boot

No different than the laceless, your normal Adidas size should be fine.

Managed to get a pair of the AG - went same size as the new Predator Elite with tongue, they fit length wise but feel a little snug compared to the preds, do they soften or worth returning for half a size upper? Wore a 10.5 in the speed flow, but 10 in the portal thanks!

That's a good question because I don't have the same experience as you pretty much with any of those boots 😂. The best advice I can give you is that there is some stretch in the upper but not a huge amount and I'd definitely wear them around the house and see how you feel. I have a feeling that half up will end up being very long. But totally up to how you feel.

Update - wore them and despite my initial fear, they were great in a game on 3G, I think I actually prefer them over the Predators, not quite Speedflow levels of comfort but very close.

Hey man loved the vid im currently looking for a new boot i have somewhat narrow feet, the pumas ultra 1.4 fit mg fit me perfectly and ive had them for 2 years with no issues no seperation even just the upper has some holes but not noticable so i wanted to ask what boot you think i should go with ive had a great experience with the ultras but i dont think id like the new generation as its not even light and it adds nothing extra, i was thinking of buying the new balance furon v7+ pro ag since i found them for 150$ what do you think im really searching for good durable boots i play football alot and what rhem to last long do you think the new balance would be a good fit or do you have other suggestions you think i should wait for the new mercs to come out and in ag or go with furons?

New balance Furon V7+ pro is one of my favourite boots at the moment. Durability will pretty much be the same as any other boot. Width wise they're reasonably middle of the road. A good choice. I'd avoid the current generation Puma Ultra unless you're looking at the Ultra 5 Carbon.

Wow, somebody who is actually reviewing an AG boot vs the FG plate. Thank you. Still waiting for mines to come. Its been delayed. You really should've tried them on first before reviewing. The studs do seem a bit too long, and there's no enough of them. Better than their previous ag plate with the triangle studs or the stupidly clunky 2g/3g version, but still could do better.

Fully testing and wearing 2 pairs of exactly the same boot is unfortunately crazy expensive, I simply can't afford to review the FG and the AG in full, hence why they weren't worn and it's just a straight comparison to the FG instead of a full review.

The AG are thicker simply because the artificial grass destroys shoes faster than natural grass. This applies the most to the front of the boot! If you're playing on both, please use the AG version. I busted my ACL using the last F50 generation (2017, before this remake) because they were FG. Protect your knees and ankles

The AG boots aren't thicker because they're supposed to be used on Artificial grass, while I agree AG destroys boots faster it's incredibly rare to find any difference in the upper of a boot with an AG plate with the exception of occasionally finding some reinforcement around the toe area. In this instance as I suggested, it's the different colourway that has changed how the upper feels, the FG version in the same advancement pack colourway both the women's and the regular fit have exactly the same upper as the AG, I have all 3 currently. I do agree about using correct boots for the correct surfaces. Always better to be safe.

The studs are a bit long and there are not enough of them to be a really good AG soleplate, but it’s better than Adidas only selling FG boots.

Yeah as I said I think they are a little long in the back, I'm not too bothered about the number, it has never really been an issue for me as long as they're conical, sometimes too many is just as bad. All depends on preference though.
