You neglected to say that the 42” and 48” C2's won’t go as bright as the 55” and up. Also, the 48” C1 is being shipped with the new Evo panel now days but still only as bright as the C1 of the same size (48”)
@TheReviewFella
@TheReviewFella 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not easy to include every bit of information, and I wanted to keep it quite general. I know with the smaller panels the lack of brightness is something to do with pixel pitch. I’m not sure how this translates in the real world though. Whether you’d notice much difference side by side. My C2 looks brighter than my C1, and so I left out the side by side comparison. I still think the C2 (any size) is a great buy if you can afford it, and you won’t notice much difference with a C1 (except the cost saving).

I can’t honestly perceive much difference. Ideally I’d like a 65 inch C2 to put against my C1 to do a proper comparison. I may get hold of one soon. I also need to do a full review video for the C2, where I’ll discuss brightness and motion in more detail.

Great video my friend I have compared A80J A90J and C1 in home I kept the C1 out of the three it’s the best picture quality punchier colors better blacks as the Sony seem to have to have brightness dropped to get the same black level as the C1 more HDMI ports better gaming features list goes on and on I want the C2 but with just recently buying my C1 I’m gonna hold off for maybe the LG G2 for Black Friday time or maybe I’ll pick up the upcoming Samsung QD OLED if it’s as good as ppl r saying won’t know till real reviews r out and I can test for myself but thx for the comparison of the C1/C2

Thank you for the feedback, it’s very much appreciated. The C1 is a great TV and I’m keeping mine. But when the C2 comes down in price, I might have to take a leap of faith and get the 65 or 77 inch. My 48 inch C2 looks really good and was bought just for review purposes.

I also compared a80J and C1 and picked the C1 as well. I disliked the A80J since it didn't transition out of black very well (Sony tries to preserve too much shadow detail causing near-black chrominance overshoot).

Yes, anyone who claims that the A80J has better overall picture quality that the C1 is insane. The only thing that the A80J has over the C1 is slightly better gradation, but this is where it ends. The C1 wins every other category by a lot. Edit: If every idiot claiming that the C1 has a "blurrier" picture than the A80J cannot even type a comment without a bunch of grammatical errors, then their opinion means nothing other than hearsay and justification.

good video friend... But, ideal would be to compare tvs over 55 inches since the 30% brightness on the c2 is only applied to screens over 55. that is, in this comparison we did not have the difference estimated by LG

I didn’t do a direct brightness comparison as I have the 48 inch C2 and the 65 inch C1. And I didn’t want to buy two additional 55 inch TVs for this video. My video is more general, my thoughts with some information on specification. There does seem to be a brightness boost on the smaller C2, but it could be my eyes. I know there is no brightness boost for the C2 below 55 inch from a hardware perspective. Thanks for your comment.

So I am buying my first OLED TV and I get a decent discount on LG products through work. This will be the last TV I buy for around 7 years so I want it to last and don't want to regret it. The TV will be in a dimley-lit basement which if I'm not mistaken is good for OLED's as outside brightness can make it a less pleasurable viewing experience. I will mostly be using the TV for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV 4K HDR content, movies, and cable TV. I am intrigued by the new Samsung and Sony QD-OLED's but have had bad experiences with Samsung in the past and the Sony QD-OLED's are out of my price range. I also know that the technology is new for QD-OLED so I'm unsure of the longevity of this first wave. The prices with discount for the four LG models that I am considering are as follows: LG C1: $1580 LG G1: $1806 LG C2: $2257 LG G2: $2709 I am kind of leaning either towards the C1 to save money or the G2 to be future-proofed with the heat-sync and higher peak brightness. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts as I am not super knowledgable about the specs of each of these. I know the G2 just came out so it is higher priced than it will be down the road but I need a new TV now and am curious if it's a waste to spend the extra $1200 or so? Like would I really notice the difference? Just wondering your thoughts on all this. Thanks!
@TheReviewFella
@TheReviewFella 2 жыл бұрын
Based on the room you're going to be putting this in (a basement not filled with sunlight by the sounds of it), then either the C1 or C2 is an excellent choice. You might get a small brightness boost in the C2 from 55 inch upwards, but not really the smaller models. The motion handling and black crushing I reckon are improved on the C2 also. But the C1 is such a good TV, I doubt you would actually notice much difference. Particularly in your basement, and it's a ton of money cheaper. All you're going to get with a G1 or G2 is a small bump in brightness, because of the better heat dissipation. Here in the UK, you have to buy the table top feet as an extra for the G1 and G2 I believe, and they're not cheap. Plus I'm not sure the big difference in price will get you that much more other than a possible small bump in peak brightness. Good luck with your choice and it would be great if you could keep me informed on what you decide.

@@milesrowe9228 i would also go with a c1 from your perspective but if you want it to last 7 years the thing you should mostly look at should be the processor and how the software works. The c2 will have 1 or more years more support and the c1’s webOS is already laggy right now, so for the most future proof maybe the c2 isn’t that bad of a choice. But the price difference is alot and i cannot tell what would be the best. I don’t know if you bought one already but i thought, Maybe this could help

So it depends on your arm length and how far you feel is comfortable from a TV that size. @TueenTuo
@TueenTuo 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the C1 is still the best television that LG has made, but the C3 may end up changing this. Any mild hype coming out of the C2 circles is phony fluff and placebo. From every comparison I have seen, the only benefit the C2 has over the C1 is color volume and brightness. With a C2, you are getting a 7 percent boost in brightness over the same sized C1. The smaller C2s have no such brightness upgrade, i.e., 42" and 48" models. There was very little difference in brightness across sizes last year, but the panel lottery was in play. You could have a 48" C1 have higher lumens than a larger C1, which just so happens to be the case for my C1. The out-of-the-box calibration is a little bit better than the average C1, but who is going to complain when all you have to do is change the white balance. The picture appears sharper in 4k on the C1, but the C2 happens to do cable upscaling a tiny bit better -- it's a little cleaner (if this is what you want [at a loss of sharpness]). The gaming features are arguably better, and the BFI actually works at 120hz. The C1 tends to do highlights better (being more defined), as the tone-mapping has been changed with the C2 (making it far more aggressive). The full HDMI 2.1 ports make little difference for a 10-bit display and any console gamer. Other than that, the C2 is probably a downgrade in every conceivable way. It can range from motion, contrast, and skin tones, to color accuracy, clarity, and depth -- the C1 does all of these things much better than the over-saturated look of the C2. It is not to say that it is bad, but all they did was change around a few features; this is not considered an upgrade in my opinion. Their HDR is more similar to Sony's now, but this is not necessarily good. Although, if you want a lighter television, then the C2 may just in fact be for you. The new carbon fiber build is claimed to be more efficient -- just like the EX "evo" panel -- than the C1, but this only means that the materials for the build quality are cheaper. They are trying to make a profit through buzzwords, and they do this by fooling the masses -- the consumers. Do not trust Rtings.com, and understand that the majority of the minor brightness boost (and "processing boost") you gain from the C2 comes from the DTM feature and Ai Picture Pro. Most reviewers are paid to lie when reviewing new products for the sake of promoting a new standard. They play it by the books most of the time, are entirely stupid, or are in fact being paid off. If you want a good television, then go out and buy the C1 while it is on sale. You will not regret it at all, and it's a fantastic set, evo panel or not. Unfortunately, the evo technology is all marketing and no performance. All it does is make the television a little lighter in weight. It also adds a pink tint to the sides of the screen, but it's not a huge dealbreaker in my opinion. You can "unlock" it in the service menu on a newer C1, but this may not work and does little to make the image brighter or better with color separation. If anything, you may see a .5 percent difference, and that is it. Either way, the downsides of the newer evo panel outweigh any good you get from it. The problems are even worse on the C2, and the C1 is still worth the purchase over it. Anyone making the new "evo" craze a big deal is contributing to the asinine marketing that chooses to lie to us all, i.e., techradar. If the average person simply wants to know that they are getting the latest and greatest, then fine, but I have a problem with reviewers exaggerating the importance of the "EX" gimmick. They will gloss over important details to help themselves get more money through affiliate marketing. Anyway, I am simply here to let you know. Try not to fall for the bullshit novelties, and be sure to use the features at your disposal to make the image as sharp and detailed as the so-called Sony image that everyone keeps bullshitting about. Sony does not have a better image, but they do have people saying this because of reality creation.

I have had the A80J and C1 and I returned the A80J because it is dimmer then the C1 also A80J has a bad ABL issue so sports and gaming looks very dark also only 2 hdmi 2.1 ports vs 4 on the C1 clearness is the same from my testing motion is very good on both the C1 is built more high quality but anyhow you have your settings all wrong on the C1 because the C1 is brighter! Lol it’s 750 nits peak brightness vs the A80J is roughly around 730 nits Use filmmaker mode or for even more brightness but not true to what the filmmaker wanted use vivid which is much brighter Peak brightness to high Auto dynamic contrast to medium or high depends on your liking Gamma to 2.2 although I prefer BT1886 White balance is recommended for 50 for a warmer look but I use 30 that’s the sweet spot to me
@TueenTuo
@TueenTuo 2 жыл бұрын
The A80J is certainly not the best television for gaming. They are essentially neck to neck when it comes to brightness, but the C1 can pull ahead by about 50 nits. A 48" C1 can actually reach upwards of 860 nits in vivid mode. This is my experience, as my C1 can already reach the so-called C2 brightness level, at least of the 48" C2. I know that this is not necessarily normal, but it is certainly possible to have a small but very bright panel. I only decided to get the C1 once I did enough research to make an informed purchase, so it is something I am willing to defend rationally. The XR chip is all marketing hype and gets sold through dishonest KZbin videos. This is why Sony loves to trademark their chips as Bravia XR and their televisions as Magnolia only. Their pixel response time is also considerably lower than the C1, and an LG owner can also enable processing on their television, but this is often ignored. The Ai Picture Pro is the extra processing on LG televisions, and it can make the television brighter. Even 4K images look better by resolving more detail in draw distances, shadows, and by making the image sharper.

What about judder/stutter with 24p content on the C1 en C2?
@TheReviewFella
@TheReviewFella 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve not noticed any judder or stutter when watching content. I leave any motion smoothing settings left as default.

@@TheReviewFella thanks. Just wanna ask if screen burn is a problem for this tv
@TheReviewFella
@TheReviewFella Жыл бұрын
Could be. Just employ all the tools built into the TV such as pixel refresh, screen move and logo brightness. You can see more information on these in my settings video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpfcfn1rrZxop9U

Is the VRR flicker issue fixed?

It seems less noticeable. But that’s a problem that affects monitors also I believe.

@@TheReviewFella Yes but it's much more noticeable on OLEDs because of how dark they get. I waited an entire year to see if they would fix it in their new panels at this point if it's not fixed I'll just get a discounted C1 Thanks.

It’s something I need to test. From what I’m reading though it’s still an issue.

Restore to factory settings and everything stays the same. I didn't need to update because the picture was beautiful. Stupid.

Maybe it’s faulty then. The updates are mostly software patches and security updates. Shouldn’t degrade the picture, and I’ve not heard of it happening to any other C1. Sorry I can’t help more.

What is so disturbingly odd is there is a Generation of People that buy New Cellphones and Televisions Every Model Year LIKE THE OLD 1 Isnt Broken or Broke In Yet...... WTH WTF Is wrong with yall??

Yeah if youre a hard core gamer, you should wait until 3-5 years before an upgrade, people that buy new cell phones every year are just mentally ill. if youre rich AF, sure upgrade your tv or cell phone every year, lol , but most people arent', Im a gamer and just bought the C1 for a great price, I want a tv that supports VRR and 120hz, only newer tvs support that.
