REAL ANSWER IS WAIT ! (at least if you want a top end experience) Wait for an headset equivalent or better than the g2 that is compactible out of the box with the index controller, there you will have a solution that will be so good that you will stay many years with it like we do for flat screens. + in vr you can have as many screens as you want, you can even lie on your bed and have them above you like your dream setup. (The hack for the index controllers is not that great, the controllers drift away over time and you have to recalibrate + you need to buy the default controllers that you will never use except for that).
@TemporaryVoid4 жыл бұрын
HP is well aware of theirs tracking issue and will probably release a steam vr varient of their headset, if not, that will be fix for the next model. There is also a Samsung headset coming soon and I bet it will be dam good like their previous ones.

@TemporaryVoid4 жыл бұрын
Don't make me lie, the oculus is the best current solution for gaming on the go but when you want to get serious, it has many issues and YOU NEED : -A good cable to connect it to your computer and ditch the potato graphics, that solution erase the main asset of the quest which is being wireless. If you get a bad cable, you will get latency, compression, and even more if you try to send 90 fps (a lower frame rate in VR can quickly become nausea inducing), or to super sample. As an example the Oculus link cable cost 100€. Or if you want to stay wireless, you will need to add a software like virtual desktop (20€) and a Wi-Fi 6 equipment like the ASUS RT-AX86U (300€) to have an acceptable experience. The g2 doesn't have a wireless solution for now which is a bummer but as been thought to work wired and does that perfectly without having to add any equipment. -A better strap, the default one is very cheap and uncomfortable (an uncomfortable headset is a headset you don't keep on your head), it doesn't balance the weight, and it doesn't keep the device straight when moving your head which get you out of the sweet spot. 50€ for the elite one, with that, the comfort becomes ok but not like on the g2 which is the most comfortable of the market, that strap also have a big hard bump on the back of it that is annoying when sitting on a head supporting chair, a couch, or laying in your bed. -The strap that come with a battery extension (139€). By default, the quest 2 discharge after 2 hours of gaming and take 2.5 hours to recharge, even in computer plugged mode, the headset discharge faster than it charge. It's a must-have if you want to do longueurs sessions, don't want to wait too much between them, not only play games (watch movies, browse the web...) or even share your headset with family members. The g2 doesn't have this problem. -A better audio solution. The one integrated inside the headset is not very great or immersive. The Price of that depends, and you can easily add annoying cables and moving parts if you don't think well your setup. The g2 comes by default with an almost identical integrated audio solution to the index headset which is the best of the market. And even after all this money and sacrifices, you will still have an inferior screen resolution, color range, contrast, FOV, sweet spot size and clear zone size while inside the sweet spot, more godrays, mura and screendoor effect. All of that will give you the impression you have the cataract and prevent you from enjoying your VR, you will be fed up and buy an other headset in less than 2 years. If only the g2 controllers was not horrible and the index hack requiring you to buy the default controllers and 2 dongles, that will be perfect. Sadly it is not the case and I highly recommend anyone wanting to get seriously into VR and who is not a nerd to wait a few months for a better and affordable solution. Might be a g2 Steam VR version, a reverb g3, the new Samsung VR incoming or anything else but wait for it, and you will have a something ergonomic that will stay a strong even in 2 years and that will replace your flat screens. Hell you might even get something wireless, who knows. I said "top end experience" !
@HOMICIDE9014 жыл бұрын
@@TemporaryVoid yeah to put it simply....the quest 2 is the best to get with that price, portability and quality. all vr headsets have their problems till they really perfect it....but to pay $500 on a g2 or $1,000 for a index headset and then have alot of problems, all kind of wires everywhere and alot of tracking issues with small field of view. quest 2 wins all day.

Pretty biased towards HP this video. I think it is hard to compare these two devices. The Oculus Quest 1 and 2 are more like a games console for your face. They are more or less plug and play. No reviewers ever mention the cost of a PC to run a HP Reverb or the likes of a Valve index and the hassle one can have with drivers and update patches. You need to spend an additional €1000 to €2000 for a decent PC on top of the cost of the headset. I agree with all the Facebook privacy concerns and issues, but I have experienced excellent customer service from Oculus. Of course HP will reply to your tickets quicker than Oculus, they are a bigger company, and they have less than a quarter of the customers.

I did bought fallout 4 VR that i'm modding to get way better graphics than the vanilla version, and the immersion is very impressive. Though, you really need a powerfull PC to get a comfortable gaming experience in VR that include great greaphics AND fps; so there is a good chance that the Quest 2 is a better compromise for a cheaper price.

I have a reverb g2v2 love the audio the quest tracking for fitness games is much superior, I miss balls in 3 different spots on the G2 but I can catch balls to the side, in front of my face and right at the belt buckle on the quest, all of which I would miss on the g2, so with fitness games the g2 requires your hands in front more. Alyx looks and sounds better on the g2, Unreal Engine looks better too, its better as a dev headset, but for fast action games the quest is better. I like the portability of the quest. was never a meta fanboy, love the g2, but over time the quest has proven itself for tracking.

"if you want something more portable where there aren't as many games". You said this for the Quest 2 but that's not entirely accurate is it? The Quest 2 probably offers more games as you can play anything from Steam VR and more on PC VRbplus you get some cool native experiences too such as Resident Evil 4, Star Wars Galaxy's Edge and many more you can't get on PC VR. Plus Oculus exclusives too such as Line Echo 1 and 2 and Asgard's Wrath. So the Quest 2 can offer more if you have a PC. However, I would like to see what the HP looks like as I've never used one. I play more PC VR than native Quest games and the latest Resident Evil VR mods are unbelievable. I'd love to see that through the HP and compare but being tethered as well for some games (like Walkabout Mini Golf or Eye of the Temple) would be a nightmare being tethered. So I'm terms of functionality and features, the Quest 2 does win absolutely. Just get the VR Cover facial covers and the BoboM2 halo strap and enjoy as out of the box, the Quest 2 isn't good enough.

It's still great content and I watched it all and kept my interest!

What surprises me about the VR market is that a large majority of people don’t care about the Facebook requirement. With the constant bashing of FB one would expect for sales to take a hit.

Facebook on your phone doesn't track your biometric fingerprint. Your height, gait, limb length all combined make s unique fingerprint that can make you identifiable to any video system in the world regardless if they have your name and without the need for any electronic device. Personally I do not have facebook on my phone either, however, don't shame people when knowledge of this is limited. Facebook does in fact track your data and they have access to your headsets camera and microphone, which they have the right to change their policy at any time. Again, If you do not care that's up to you, but don't shame other people or spread misinformation because you like the product. The data capture is bad enough that even the European government investigated facebook/oculus over privacy and anti competitive concerns.

Quest 2 is cheap, but also EXTREMELY cheaply built. It is the most uncomfortable headset in the market right now. If you wear eye glasses, it is SERIOUSLY bad.

3:32 : Wrong I just wear a merinowool balaclava underneath and the strap of the Quest 2 works fine. Its ok to say the G2 is more comfortable but don't mislead people by saying that they have to buy some expensive accessory for the Quest 2 to be comfy. 8:47 : Wrong again , With Link the Quest 2 can use SteamVR and with SideQuest it also has access to games that might not be on Steam or Oculus store .. So it can definitely access all the games the G2 can. And there is a Facebookless version of the Quest2 that still costs less than the G2 . So nice try but the G2 unfortunately missed the mark by requiring a cable that doesn't provide any advantage..

The resolution on the quest 2 is ass. I tried four units already. I give up. I'll wait for Htc vive flow to go down on the price. Then order that one again. It's only for porn.
