I have this camera. Another thrift store find. Like this thing very much. Takes pretty good photos and decent video. Fits into just about any pocket. I use it much more than I thought I would. For what I paid for it ( $8.00 Canadian) I think it's worth it.

@@paulie_shoots Like you I do find the power/shutter buttons a bit frustrating to use, they can be difficult to find in a rush and don't provide positive feedback. On the upside though, just being able to pick ithe camera out of a shirt pocket makes me reach for it over my phone in a good many cases. Like this series, keep it up!

For me the Sony dsc w300 is what I’m using for pure fun . Titanium shell, slightly larger sensor than most available at the time. Small usable viewfinder with a quality Zeiss lens with good image stabilisation. Three times zoom 35-105. Was at the time Sonys attempt at real quality in the hand, wasn’t cheap at the time. I’ve used it for night shots and to me it performs good. Still some available to buy second hand £25 to £50 ish

Great video. The production and the tunes bring a really nice vibe. Keep going, you should and will have way more subscribers than you do! I have a DSC-W830 and agree that the build quality is cheap plastic and the controls are terrible. However, I don't get unintended motion blur in good light with that camera. On my copy the shutter goes up to 1/400 well lit outside with the sky, around 1/250 without it, around 1/50-1/80 well lit indoors, lower than that and you need the flash. Maybe it's a metering issue or a problem with that copy you have? The thing to bear in mind is that even though it's expensive now, the DSC-W830 was a sub-$100 budget camera when released by Sony in 2014. What this camera is really about is that very late on 20MP Super HAD CCD sensor which was very unusual for that time, along with the lightning fast Sony autofocus that you don't usually get with the older CCD cameras. For me it produces beautiful, easily croppable CCD images of a quality that it has absolutely no right to given its original price point. I have other cameras literally running into the tens of thousands, but there is no way I would pass in my $100 DSC-W830!

It did! But the headache of actually using it is the problem!.. you can ride a bicycle with no air in the tyres and still get to your destination, but you won't be in a good mood when you arrive because the journey would have been terrible! That's exactly what the Sony felt like haha

I have the sony cybershot w810 Its a good camera not great or the best definitely but it does take good photos The main problem is the shutter button for me i am not a photographer in any way i just found it in a pile of old stuff in my house and thought to have fun with it Its compact, takes good pics and i like the vibe of it but honestly i wouldn't pay as much as they are selling on ebay but if you can get it cheap its a good find

So I was watching the video (it's the first time I check your channel) and in the sample videos I was thinking: "The dude with the green coat looks like John Constantine taking pictures in the UK". The I realized that it was Paulie 😅. Very good video, I'm checking out every Sony Cybershot video I can find to see if buying a used W330 model or a new W800 would be a good choice. Both have CCD sensor but the first one doesn't have a guarantee and the second one does.

look for the "made in Japan" cybershots, they're very well made and solidly built i have been using WX5 and WX100 with the G lens i'd also recommend you try reviewing the infamous DSC 150

Hello, first of all, thanks for the video. I recently bought this camera, first of all I have to say that my aim is to capture some retro images. -You are right about the case plastic and keys, it is seriously poor quality. The keys do not stay in place. The shutter button is really hard to press, it is difficult to focus and shoot, it should have been a little more protruding. -But unlike you, I'm quite happy with the zoom buttons. When I want to zoom, I only take my right thumb, this is a firmer grip that also prevents the camera from shaking. -It changes the colors a little bit like an AI-assisted camera app on the phone, which makes me a little sad. By the way, I loved the harmony of the transition in the video samples with the music. I couldn't find the music, what is the name of this?

I disagree. Don't buy this camera if you're using it to take pictures in a fast pace enviroment, where people are moving about constantly in an event like a party or wedding. You will get a lot of flustered, impatient and boozed up sour guests once they realize they have to pose for at least 15 seconds. This camera has a huge image processing/shutter lag problem and will be very slow to take follow up shots. It takes about 5-6 seconds each click for you to get your next shot in. I also own the predecessor/an older version of this camera (Sony W120) which fairs a lot better for photos in comparison to the W830, despite having lower mega pixels. If you're using the W830 as a general jack of all trades camera for scenic or stationary shoots then this camera is for you. It will produce quality images and videos. I have used it a lot of times for my uni projects and for those relaxing travel occasions when I'm not in a rush to capture moments. Definitely don't be buying this camera if you are planning to capture something memorable it will end up disappointing you massively. The battery life is also garbage. W830 has went dry on me within 2 hours. I had to buy two additional battery. It doesn't have a viewfinder which is a massive downgrade compared to the W120 model.
