Should you care what other people think of you? According to the Bible, you should care what other people think of you. However, Scripture also says we must not be people pleasers. In this video we talk about how Christians can avoid idolizing people while also still caring about them.

I feel the same; that I don't fit! You may have a ministry all your own and God would love you to EMBRACE what he has. I am in the same growth stage right now. Lean into your growth and discomfort and see what God brings you! It is amazing!! :)

Whether I am with nonbelievers or believers I do enjoy maintaining good light and character. People just need to know whom they r in Christ Jesus. Walk correctly as a Christian. That's all!

Oh, I needed this !! I wanted to thank you, Mark for praying for me.Unfortunately I failed again that driving exam, but I have peace in my heart, it wasn't the right time and God showed me that when I made the decision to get my driver's licence I made that decision only because all my friends had it and I wanted to be cool like them.. oh, Lord, I was a more immature christian back then, but there was a deeper issue: my family. I have many aunts and uncles and some of them gossip, are really judgemental and they critique a lot. I was never so afraid of judgement as this time. If it was a random person I wouldn't have been bothered, but if it was a member of my family... I suffer, I don't know whether I should distance myself from them or keep giving them grace, forgive them and being there for them, considering they are family. What would your opinion be?

I would keep loving and serving them while also guarding your heart. You may need to see them less but it doesn't sound like you should cut them out. Perhaps pray before going to see them you are prepared for the judgement. You can give without taking, meaning offer in the relationship while knowing you are not going to receive from them. Listening and asking questions can take the focus off of you but still give you a way to connect with them without giving them as many opportunities to hurt you. By sharing less with them you will guard yourself more. I hope that helps some, God bless, -Mark

I've been on both sides a bit, though more on the side of purposely not caring what others think. That extreme almost becomes pride and an attitude that sees others as inferior. That is absolutely wrong and must be avoided. However, you also don't want to care too much about pleasing people, so much that you idolize others and put them over God. Here's my balance. I say to simply be a man. Know what you believe and have confidence in what you believe and who you are as a child of God. Don't aim to please people, but be gracious to them and kind and respectful of them. Let's say someone gives you their opinion. Actually hear them and ponder their words. Then purposely respond in an appropriate manner. Let's say they make a remark about how you dress. Say they don't like something about your style. You can politely thank them for their remarks, but say you'll dress how you see fit. Now, if they think it's somewhat inappropriate, you may politely agree and decide to alter your style of dress. You aren't seeking to please them; rather, you're seeking to do what is right. Don't change something about yourself just because someone else says you should. Be a man and make your own decisions under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Seek to become more like Christ in all aspects of your life. Love others, whether you agree with them or not. Even when you disagree with them, that's not a license to disrespect them or treat them poorly in any way. Agree or disagree, you love them and respect their views.
