In this video, I'm sharing my thoughts on the BMW S1000RR for 2022. This bike is perfect for anyone looking for a superbike that can do it all - from street riding to competition.
I really chose this bike because of the multiple people saying it could do both track and street equally well. I wanted a bike that was comfortable to ride on long trips, but could also perform when I eventually take it to the track. This bike exceeded my expectations in every way - it's truly the best of both worlds.
The only two downsides are:
the windscreen; I wish it was taller for longer rides (mod coming soon)
the mirrors: they vibrate more than I'm used to (mod coming soon
Overall I think this bike is an incredible value and perfect for anyone looking for a do-it-all superbike. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

As a long time Japanese motorcycle fan boy I’ve been exclusively riding Honda CBRS (600rr&1000rrs) for the past 8 years. I finally picked up a 2017 S1000rr and I have to say… it was love at first ride, the riding experience is much more enjoyable then anything I’ve ever ridden!

Congrats on the choice. My son and his friends have rekindled the bike bug in me and for some reason I have fallen in love with this bike. Last one I had was the CBR 600RR, which was an amazing bike for me but infants and responsibilities took priority. Glad you mentioned the comfort which is a big plus for me and just another selling point. The kid in me really wants one and the adult says___well let’s not go there just yet cuz I am looking. Followed to watch you grow. Good luck and stay safe!

I just have the mic wired to the go pro. and then I might have thrown on a wind noise filter in adobe premier before exporting. typing now i just realized that something that might be helping is I layering on the audio from the 360 camera, and it does good at taking wind noise out and hearing the engine, so that mix might have helped create an illusion of no wind noise.

I'm picking up a 2012 s1000rr with 2500 miles, bone stock. I'm a little concerned about properly dialing in my settings and not being over powered on my early stages of learning the bike. I've done some research and have come to the conclusion that the abs/dsc and wheelie control make the s1000rr one of the safest and most forgiving bikes on the market. Especially if you're willing to ride sensibly, which you definitely seem to be doing. Kudos on a high quality video

Congrats on the new bike! I was worried before hopping on mine as well, but after the first ride all those worries went away. I’ve not ridden any of the earlier s1000s, but I can confirm based on mine that it is such a forgiving bike provided you’re not being foolish. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your compliment as well. 🫡🙏🏼 Ride safe and have fun out there!

Thank you for your excellent video. I recently purchased a 2023 model with the M package , having owned a Ducati V4S (2018) and a 2017 s1000RR. I absolutely love it. Whilst it doesn't quite have the sex appeal of the V4S (although each year, I think the S1000rr is getting better and better looking) it is a joy to ride and I love having cruise control whenI I go for longer rides (I live in the south of Spain). I don't miss having to feather the clutch at low speeds on the the V4S, and the V4S's terrible mirrors and incredible engine heat. The s1000RR is a gorgeous machine and beautifully engineered. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

I have a V2, and have had 3 BMW’s. It all depends on what you want. I used to ride long 5-10 hour days… Beemer wins all day if you ride like that. It is so comfortable, and cruise/heated grips are the bee’s knees. V2 has a lot of grunt and is amazing in different ways, but nothing beats an S1000RR in value. One thing I suggest if you want to have street fun and not feel like you have to rap it out all the time and be going 100 everywhere, is gearing down 2-3 teeth and getting a tune. If you don’t need to go 180 at the track, and most don’t, this is the way to go. The bike is absolutely brutal even going 50-60. It makes a huge difference if you want constant fun without fear of constant reckless driving tickets. This was a great review.

I have the Australian version of the 2020 M Sport. It doesn't have the flat spot and just picks up speed like a rocketship from 4k rpm. One gripe I have with the bike is that the stock exhaust system is really quiet. Even with an Austin Racing slip-on it barely makes any noise. You don't hear your own bike on a group ride and cars don't hear you coming on the road. Definitely getting a full system soon. Otherwise it's been great. I do believe this is the most comfortable litre bike out there. The power is very usable on the road and the electronics are foolproof.

I would want to get a black one not into the flashy colors. But i still love your bike so awesome and so beautiful. My last bike was a CBR 1000RR 2007 loved that bike it was silver with the black frame with the blue CBR 1000RR Racing lettering. It had the under the tail exhaust. It was a beautiful bike be careful going through those intersections with cruise control. I would have my hands on the handle bars just incase something happens. It's also great to see you wearing gloves and a proper riding jacket i always wear my riding gear every time i ride and i will never ride without gloves and the rest of my riding gear that's so important. Hey Emory, amazing video. FYI, I believe some other videos confirmed it, the flat spot is actually due to emissions in the US. This is not present in EU nor I believe is it on the M1000RR. Have you found out how much it costs to flash it out? Also, did you ever mod the seat? I've heard changing the seat out is a huge improvement. Finally, is it really quiet at lower RPM with stock exhaust? Like neighborhood friendly quiet? Some people want a louder bike so people notice them, I would rather assume being invisible and avoid bad/inattentive drivers. Thanks for the great vid!

All bikes old in the Us have become more and more restricted over the last couple years due to CA emission regulations . A stock map on a brand new m1krr only puts done ~150whp, after a tune it’s pretty much the same attuned s1krr without the need to buy and air filter and full exhaust system.

In terms of noise from stock exhaust, if your listening to your cardo or sena at 70%+ volume you can’t teally hear your engine or exhaust note at any speed, highly recommend either the full akra titanium long can or the arrow PUdta full ti system. I’ve had both my new current gen s1ks and they’re louder but they’re not super obnoxious like those awful AR or Akra shorty cans.

@hobelmotorsports
@hobelmotorsports Жыл бұрын
TBH I think about this often. If you are a thoughtful and attentive rider I see no reason why you shouldn’t get the S1K. Without the tune it is very easy to manage. And the ABS + TC tech is insanely good. I was out today doing a test ride on gravel and dirt roads and can grab a fist full of front break and it will calmly stop me without any issue or sliding. It’s nuts.

In all seriousness, I can’t wait to get a BrenTuning flash for mine. I want my wrist to determine my intentions with the bike. Not a throttle map/restrictions. The way the bike builds power after the flat spot almost feels like a big single turbo car. Gives you lag, and then all of a sudden a big punch to the face full of power. Just wondering about whether to buy an R1 or s1000rr. I would probably buy the BMW if not for a couple of concerns. 1. No dealership within 200 miles. 2. I have heard that from time to time an error or warning light comes on and can only be cleared by a dealer. This would be a clear negative of having to travel far to get it cleared. I don't know if a Yamaha dealer who is close could clear one. I kind of doubt it. Does anyone know whether these are legitimate concerns? And, finally, can anyone who has the S1000R tell me if the S1000RR has a "long" first gear? The GSXR1000RR I bought recently had a very short 1st gear. The R1 has that long gear I really like. Thanks for any input.

Thank you for the very informative video. I enjoyed hearing the engine sounds. How much different is the handling compared to the CBR600? Can you toss the S1000RR around as easIly as the CBR 600? Quick background on me, I had no interest in motorcycles, just cars. I went into the Marine Corps at 17 in 1981 and found myself in the desert in California at 18 yrs old unable to get financed for a car. There were so many bikes on base that I decided to try one and I fell in love. Inline 4's are music to my ears. I currently have a 21 GSXR1000R. I have been on the fence for a while about the new gen BMW. I want something with sick power and quick handling and that brings us to my question to you. I can live with the vibration, blurred mirrors, and the racer tuck which is all that I really like. If I sit upright it doesn't do it for me. Thanks for the great video and I will look for more of your work. I liked and subsribed🙂👍

@markettradinggenius
@markettradinggenius Жыл бұрын
@@hobelmotorsports right now, truthfully, it's a internal battle within my mind. On one hand, I feel the hayabusa would be better because of it's power and there's NO replacement for displacement. And, if I'm traveling through the mountains and something happens to the bike there's more dealership networks that will be available on tap. But, if I break down on the bmw s1000rr in a place that has no dealerships close by I'm screwed. Also, the maintenance on the suzuki will be 3 or 4 times less, overall, than it will be on the s1000rr because of the large dealership network that Suzuki has the advantage of. On the other hand, I've heard of plenty of people six feet and taller(up to 6'4" tall) that feel that the bmw s1000rr is comfortable and alot of them have their footpegs lowered since many of them will never go to the racetrack anyway to do knee slides....So, right now it's an internal battle. OP says the same thing and I'm thinking I will finally get an explanation that sheds some light...only to hear "it's like studio headphones, it gives you what's there" 😶🫥 Bro...WTF does THAT mean...in all due respect lol...does it have something to do with the exhaust notes?

Haha!! This was a great comment. Now that you mention it I can see how that might be a little confusing. Basically by “No soul” people are referring to the fact that when this bike is stock (before a tune) it feels very clinical. The opposite of the character you come to love on a bike that is rough around some of its edges. After you ride some more bikes and get a chance to ride one of these, you’ll know what I mean. I know you didn’t ask so I won’t lean into it but if you do end up getting a liter Bing as a newish rider, I’d highly suggest getting one with all of ABS and traction control technology. I didn’t get this until ~6 years of riding. But that’s not to say I couldn’t have sooner. Be vigilant out there sir!

My first bike was a SV650S. I rented an S1000RR for a weekend, basically the no soul comments relate to the engine being so smooth it could be an electric motor, the torque curve seems so linear all the rev range feels the same. Basically the bike is really well engineered, there's nothing you have to compensate for ("character") with how you ride it. Contrast with the SV650 where you take advantage of the low down torque and short shift because there's nothing much beyond 9000rpm. My next bike was a Triumph Street Triple 675R, have you tried one? I found it a natural progression from the SV. 6 years later and I'm ready for the S1000RR!
