Thank you for this! I never really understood why or how blended/pureed/juiced fruits had "more sugar" and your explanation about what happens to the fiber when is pureed had really cleared that up! I love all the work you do!

Thalia you are awesome! Thanks so much for contributing your knowledge and perspective to the world! I don't have kids but I have found all your information super useful and encouraging as I work on shedding a lot of unhelpful messaging around food with mindful/intuitive eating.

My 8 month old baby is not interested in food! He just wants to drink breastmilk or formula. I've tried whole foods, food pouches, and baby cereal and he's not interested in any! I would love to see a video where you comment on ideas for how to expose baby to foods and get him to enjoy it!! Thank you! I'm so exited that you've started a KZbin channel. I've been following you on Instagram for a few months and love your content!

It really bothers me that there is not a better option. I read online about one company that is supposed to be better. I am going to find out how expensive that is, although I realize that one cannot put a price on their child's health. But, I am worried about whether my daughter is getting the nutrients she needs. I thought about blending fruit and veggies down myself but I live with someone else and do not get a vegetable bin all to myself, and I have a baby food blender, but, it's not easy to take an orange, strawberry etc., and just puree away. And then that doesn't include all the prepping, cleaning before and after, etc., etc. And this would be daily. Twice or more, daily. I could only find about four fruits that are frozen at the grocery store. And spinach, a person really needs to clean it thoroughly to avoid possible food poisoning, such as e.coli. Not to mention prepping broccoli, and any other veggies. I just want good, nutritious, safe baby food for Pete's sake (well, for my daughter's sake, really). There are some other snaggles I ran into as well as to why I didn't end up making my own baby food as I had planned. And now I feel like a dumb mom because there are so many issues with this stuff I guess, and I am certain other moms are feeling similarly, being as there are only two options at the grocery store when purchasing baby food (that I wouldnt have to conjure up myself). Ughhh! So frustrating...

I squeeze these into popsicle molds and freeze them. Each one has about 1/4 of the pouch and it's a treat, not for every day. The pouches I got have basic ingredients with more fiber and less sodium. Is it any worse than making a puree from scratch and freezing?
@FamilySnackNutritionist
@FamilySnackNutritionist 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. It really depends what's in them! My question is your choice of the word/mentality of "treat" I think you'll find this video really interesting about reframing your mindset: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIvIdXyLgqqIqa8

What are your thoughts on Serenity kids pouches? I normally make my own purees but will be taking a trip in august with my 7mo old and will need vegetables and meat pouches but they seem to have a lot of sodium in the meat pouches is this common?
@FamilySnackNutritionist
@FamilySnackNutritionist 4 ай бұрын
Hi there, from what I can see using the beef pouch as an eg there's only 25mg of sodium in a pouch. You could try your baby on table foods rather than pouches as a pouch doesn't afford them a proper exposure to the foods. I've got a lot more about this and starting solids/feeding baby in my online video course, here's the link to read more. bit.ly/FussFreeFirstFoods

I’ve actually never given my baby one of these and I don’t think I will. My boy is almost 9 months and I have a question regarding added sugar since you mentioned it. I’m totally going to adopt the DOR approach and we also do BLW. Sometimes, we like to have something sweet and I have given baby a couple of things this far (a bite or two). Is that alright even though they recommend no added sugar until at least 2? Should I wait to give him added sugar or will that foster a negative relationship?
@FamilySnackNutritionist

That's a good question. Especially at such a young age - best to keep it at zero. They will start to notice more around 18months, that's the time to give them a little and move on. You might also find this video helpful (more for older kids when they request seconds) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqaVZYCBdrinbbM

Hi i have a question. My toddler literally only eats pouches. And is terrified of eating anything else. What can i do? I do believe he mindlessly just doesnt want to tocuh his food. Or even see it. He has become very picky with pouches as well. He used to eat any brand and any flavor . Now he only selects certain flavors from happy tot brand. Thank you 😭a desperate mom of a 2 year old

Hi! That sounds really hard and wow, it's good you're wanting to make these changes while they're so young, this is YOUR job to decide what is served, it sounds to me like you need to get back in control of your mealtimes roles (video link below) and if you're looking for more help improving your mealtime communication to help with the picky eating, my online course Mealtimes Without Meltdowns is the best place to get started. I'll link it below too bit.ly/MealtimeRoles bit.ly/MealtimesWithoutMeltdowns

How does chewing the food in your mouth essentially "pureeing" differ from blending it and obliterating the fiber?

Do you think the refrigerated pouches are really any better than the shelves ones? Pouches are a sometimes food for us, so since we eat one like 2 times a months I’m ok with buying the nice ones! But if there’s no difference then.... cheaper shelved it is!

My kids are out of the just weaning stage now, however I was thinking of grabbing some fruit pouches for them for plane travel we have coming up that will total almost 36hrs. I plan to take whole apples, oranges and grapes, but thought a few of these would be a handy, nutritious snack on the plane. Should I avoid? (Kids are 7,4 and 17mo)
