Should You Have A Higher Rating? (VA Sinusitis)

Diagnosed with Chronic Sinusitis from an ENT. Two CT Scans with sinusitis. Had a sinus surgery in 2020. Multiple accounts of sinus infections needing antibiotics over a course of 10 years. Complained of chronic sinus pain regularly, including separation physical and VA C&P exam. Chronic Sinusitis was denied. Not even 0%. So, I submitted a supplemental with a letter from me and one from my wife. Did another VA C&P exam today for Chronic Sinusitis and the doctor could not believe they denied the claim. Hoping with his help I can be rated. Now the waiting game!

I got service connected for sinusitis and had nasal surgery, have multiple instances of infection, upper tooth pain, headaches, fatigue, constant clearing of the throat and they STILL said 0%…

This is a great video, however, I filed a claim for chronic sinusitis with documentation from my PCP. I then had the surgery as medical therapy did not work. I submitted that evidence as well. I never had a C&P exam and was given a 0% rating. Be aware.

I have had chronic sinusitis. Symptoms are daily, near constant everyday. I also wear a CPAP for Sleep Apnea, which exasperates the sinusitis. I have current prescriptions for both Zyrtec and Flonase (both generic from the VA), but I only have a low VA rating for this. I have no rating for Sleep Apnea. What can I do?

I thought I was the only one who cant use my CPAP during a sinus infection-which is almost daily recently. Blowing air up your nose with an infection gives me a horrible headache-Yes worse than the usual Vertigo/Dizziness'/pressure headaches. Azlastitine,Flonase,AmoxTrac/prednisone-i still get these infections over and over-also in my ears-ETD Eustachian tube dysfunction! Well see what the VA says to that medical gem of a diagnoses,submitting a claim for ETD nd supplemental for my denied sinusistus-1st C&P examiner approved it..I have her dbq on my c file now.. VA sent it to another NP who never saw me or talked to me-DENIAL

Thank You, H&P Videos are Veterans Gold IMO except when I use your suggested methods i do not get the results H&P get Lol 10% or NSC we need to take more claims to round 2 at least.but at least i know I'm doing this correctly.. Thank you

I’ve done a great job avoiding doctors since I separated in 2006. Rather, I’ve seen naturopathic doctors, learned meditation and yoga, experimented with cannabis, even gone to the extreme of ayahuasca ceremonies. These have helped tremendously with things I’m dealing with. However, I understand this might not help with my VA claim given I have avoided going to doctors and not ‘adding evidence’ to support my claim with the VA. I’m sure the examiner will ask why the large gap. I can get buddy letters. I’ve considered getting a medical marijuana card that might help too. Switzerland has made most of these things legal and has successfully treated PTSD. I’m sure I can get medical evidence to support my claim. Is telling the VA examiner I’ve done weed and psychedelics something that can hinder me?

Im going to have surgery for this so are you saying onces i have surgery that is an automatic 50%?

I had the surgery in December 2023 and was given a 0% rating in February 2024

@mattnorcia5593 I did do a HLR and won. VA granted me a C&P exam and I had that via telephone on August 16, 2024. The HLR ruled in my favor that same day. I'm now waiting for the new rating (if warranted). I know of some other guys in similar situations getting a 0% because the surgery is assumed to have solved the problem.

I just had a C&P exam where I had to described my symptoms, evidence of having the infection at va hospital with X-rays, CT scans & several MRI’s sent to start my claim for compensation…I got the results from the C&P exam clinic X-ray 2 days ago showing proof that I have infection…now they’re sending me to another clinic to have X-rays done again I guess for another opinion…I forgot to mention that prior to sending my claim in, the va hospital had me sent to ENT specialist in the community care network who also verified my condition when she used a camera to go inside my nose 👃 and diagnosed me with chronic pansinusitis along with rhinitis…my question is ? With all the compelling evidence in my favor, are they playing games in trying to deny my claim or finding another opinion so they can deny my pact act claim? Two C&P exam X-rays 🩻 just to get another verified opinion? Great vid, thanks 🙏🏾

This sounds familiar.. I've had chronic sinusitis ear infections Dysfunctional Eustachian tubes,URI's all the above.. CT Scan showing a2.7cm polyp in right maxillary.. max and ethmoid, sphenoid's inflammation.. surgery-turbinated shaved down,polyps removed-1 year later polys grew back cam problems.. Antibiotics,prednisone,Azlastine and I should have stock in kirkland Generic flonase from amazon-I carry a bottle with me daily.. C&P examiner approved me-I dont know what rating she gave me because VA Rater deferred thism claim...5 months later DENIED from another c&P Examiner i never met.. alos my private GP Doc wrote notes in my record saying this is service related because he looked at 3 years of constand "URI /Rhinusistus.OSA diagnoses in my STR's Military didn't know what it was-heres antibiotics and entex and pain meds..Flight line for 8 years JP5 black in 120 degree heat don't do your respiratory system and good.. best of luck.. I am submitting supplemental soon.. I am leaning if a VA doctor writes the diagnoses in you med records-its much better..So i have been seeing VA also now..
