The comment about “dads don’t matter” just steals the spotlight from the topic at hand. It isn’t about men at all! Tho is about a woman who wants to be a mother and is afraid, literally afraid, that this will never happen for her. I understand because I Am that woman and I am on the journey of making the same choice. This is about becoming a mother and having a family to love.

By all means, have your family. Our birth rate is 1.6. Once it drops to 1.0, effectively every 20 years it will cut the number of fertile women in half, and population will soon follow. That’s 5 generations until we have less people in the USA than in NYC today. So by all means, if you want to start a family, do it while you still can. Society is fractured so badly that 80% of the women select 2% of the men on apps like Tinder. This isn’t working for anyone. I talked to my kids and the tell me they don’t want to get married until 35! I already had my 3 sons by then. Even then they see no point in getting married anymore, just creating one or more baby mommas. Fortunately I was able to convince them that their children would be better off if their father was in their lives. collectively we set our society on fire while we are still in it thinking ’this is fine’, just like the meme. So no matter what obstacles society has put in our way, remember that in life no matter what you accomplish, if we don’t do the one job that matters, creating offspring, there won’t be anyone around to enjoy the fruits of our collective existence

I don't believe she chose to wait. She said her fear of not having kids exceeded her fear of doing it alone. I'm in her situation. I never chose not to have kids, but I never dated a man interested in long term commitment let alone kids. I'm currently in the "with a partner or not at all" camp, but that could change.

I don't think marriage is for everyone. I had a very bad experience with my first marriage where I discovered that my spouse was a narcissist and I was being abused with words and physically. Now I'm talking to a friend that I have 0 sexual attraction about having a child through IVF. We're both 39 years old. The child will grow up with two parents that are friends. I don't think it's that bad of an idea.

I don't think that this is so bad. Children need parents who love and care for them- it doesn't matter if it's a single mom or single dad. That comment about male role models not being enough is super ignorant. Some "fathers" are glorified sperm donors who leave the baby/child without caring, some "fathers" are abusive or criminal, some "fathers" are irresponsible- overgrown children that take no responsibility, and some "fathers" use their jobs as excuses to avoid interacting with his kid. Families come in different forms and that's okay. I'm glad she had her beautiful twins without caring what garbage people think and found her bliss. She will be a good mom.

Some are terrible. Plenty of good partners are terrible fathers who don't do enough, knowingly, and are a drain on their spouse and let them down. This woman has probably dated plenty of men like that and decided that the only thing more draining than single parenting would be being married to one of these slacker dudes whilst parenting.

@KateLate____ Жыл бұрын
Yeah there's no way she didn't use a donor. I hope for you that you never have to resort to it, but you'd be surprised how common it is. Other things are more common - people who accidentally get knocked up. Or people who plan kids with a guy, then don't stay together. Even married couples divorcing while their kids are young. Even married couples who are miserable, and especially where the husband does not pull his weight, not just on childcare, but housework, and being a good person by not abusing alcohol or being a gambler.

Not everyone has the luck to have a healthy relationship or marriage, I’ve seen too many cases of people staying in toxic relationships and just to look perfect from the outside but they were suffering badly mentally and physically behind the close door. It is 2023, no need to tolerate toxic relationship, you live your own life, you don’t live the life for others. We should just be true to ourselves.
