I have a pair of Infinity IL50s with built in subwoofer amps, and the manufacturer recommended leaving them on and they go into standby after 5 minutes without signal. Last year I had to repair one of the amps after 17 years. My pre-amp I leave in standby

back in the studio! Some Class-A solid state amps, you can put your frozen meal on it and warm it up for eating. lol...

I always turn off my amp/dac. Currently I use an JDS Labs atom and Element Dac v1 that I got second hand. Personally, I that there HAS to be a level of balance between convenience and... well the more convenient something is the better honestly. Personally, I think that if you need to leave an amp on all the time I can't help but see that as.. well not great design. Not because the actually engineering and design of the system its self is bad an produces bad sound, its just that we should continue to strive for increasing fidelity AND convenience.

There can be different reasons for leaving equipment on vs. only on when using. One is sound quality, where some equipment may sound better when at operating temperature. A different concern is regarding the longevity of equipment. Some would say equipment lasts longer if it’s left on continuously because very high numbers of on/off power cycling degrades electronic parts and eventually shortens the life of any component. In this notion, constant stable power and temperature enable components to last longer. Others say the constant electrical load, as well as the sustained higher heat level will actually shorten the life of a component.

I have a Carver AV 705x amplifier that runs pretty cool. Even after hours of play at volume it's just warm. Now I leave it on all the time.

I have an TA-ZH1ES and there is absolutely no difference. If you turn it on, it sounds identical to being on for hours. It also automaticially turns off after 20 minutes without listening.

Turn it on if you are going to use it. Switch off when you leave and when there is a thunderstorm Switch off... Enjoying the music more and talking less is listening more 😋👂👈👌👍

Unplug your electrical I’ve seen lighting burn power strips , surge protection etc,.

You know that vacuum tubes have a relatively short lifespan and that the quality decreases after a while? tube is like a light bulb and should NOT be left on 24/7

It doesn't sound like you have much knowledge about this. An amplifier class-ab and a gives better sound when they are warm. class-d does not have as big a difference in sound between cold and warm. Then you have all electrolytic capacitors which have a certain lifespan and which are reduced if you expose them to heat. Then you have fire safety. All electronic devices can suddenly break or lightning strikes and the like can destroy them! I don't think that fire service likes an amplifier being on 24/7 You should not leave them on 24/7, but you should pull out the power plug at night or if you are away for a while or when there is a storm. Yes, all metal and solder contracts and shrinks when they get hot or cold. But an amplifier has a much shorter life if it is switched on 27/7 and you will reduce the sound quality of an oroduct! you won't notice them as well since they happen so slowly
