I am an Advance Mobile Nail Tech and Esthetician all of 36 years. I specialize in advance pedicures and oncology skincare. I have very easy set up and breakdown. I have boundaries as I control the situation of how I work in someone's home. I cater to seniors, special needs, mobility impairment and other. I am also a licensed cosmetologist so I have hair services available for certain clients. One of my ways of giving back is I do complimentary services for Hospice clients as well as afterlife beauty and grooming care. This has been a very heartfelt journey and a great path for me.

I went mobile, with only a few favorites customers. I have done, bed-ridden customers with some problems, but it's my heart to help those who are bed-ridden. ALL my people are very helpful and accommodating. I created color wheels for gel and regular polish and a few simple nail art examples. Each gets a picture texted to them, if they want a color change, they can give me the number of the color, and I will bring it with me. Sometimes I have my full collection with me, but leave in the car. (unless it's too hot) For nail art, I have them choose the design they want, then I can bring what I need for that design. I normally gave some small items with. Like, Swarovski Crystals in clear two sizes, I bring three spider gel colors, some foils, and a few other nail art for a simple look . Most of my customers like a simple look anyway. I have a travel tote and a rolling basket for my supplies. I use a small headlamp for better focused lighting. I bring my own table, extension cord, and enough tools to do work on two customers without having to disinfect,

You got to be very organised . you have to get a deposit as well ahead , I charge setup , laundry and gas . I ask for pictures of environment before I turn up. Also booking is 2 weeks ahead .

I am a beginner and I’m really starting to consider Mobile bc I do not have a place. I’m really trying to avoid going to a discount salon bc I’ve worked at 2 and both were very similar in their practices like not being clean, not disinfecting and reuse of implements. I’m getting super discouraged at this point!
@shante45243 жыл бұрын
I did mobile service for a few weeks after being in the pandemic. My travel fee was based on mileage. When I schedule the services I knew how much time it would take me to get to the next person. Which also helped me schedule the next time slot. If there were 2 ppl at one stop they BOTH had to pay the travel fee because they consumed my time. What also helped me was that they had to tell me exactly what they wanted 24hrs prior to appt. I did take multiple color sections though. For example if they wanted yellow I would take from neon yellow down to pale yellow. My cart was only tailored to the appts scheduled. My cart also contained EVERYTHING down to barbicide, lysol and even my own hand soap. When I walked into someone's home I sprayed lysol, washed my hands and let them see my wipe everything down. It was pretty cool while it lasted however you do get burnt out quick because of all the moving around. Packing and unpacking of equipment and supplies. As far as a down side. It puts wear and tear plus milage on your vehicle. And don't mention GAS 😫. Everyone loved my services and was satisfied with the outcome of their nails. For them they just liked being in the comfort of their own home. I told them I didn't care how they came to the table as long as boobs weren't swinging/hanging in my face. Waist down they could be in their drawers if they wanted I didn't care. I was just there to provide a service and leave.

I am a licensed esthetician and nail tech and I specialize in problem feet (diabetic/geriatric). I have always done mobile footcare, that was the main focus of my business when I opened. I have a large wheeled toolbox with all my supplies, the only thing I have to pack up is my e-file and tool binder as I have doubles of everything else. I also have a spray disinfectant and paper towel in my case. Once a month I visit my parents about 3hrs away. And while there I do my parents pedicures and a couple of their friends (about 6 precovid). Currently my mom is the only person I do mobile nails for and she only gets French or French fade. I would do nails as a mobile for other people but I think I would charge at least $50 + mileage extra just because of the time involved for packing it up and then set-up/takedown.

Cancellation/Reschedule? Disinfecting on the go? Do I have a consultation before hand so I’m not hauling around 2 million products? Mobile services can be super in depth and totally worth it. I’ve only ever been mobile and was hoping for more tidbits from a crew I trust so very much.

I have done mobile tech for two years now. I have it set up with a small group of friends who allow me to use their pool house so I can do all of that specific group in one day for convenience purposes. I bring my entire setup and maximize my time. Otherwise you are correct...it isn’t worth the travel time unless they throw cash at the travel fees. I do find that when I text ahead for pictures of what they are wanting, I can tweak what I bring to include the necessary art stuff to accomplish that set, on top of the almost complete set of products for regular services. Over time I have become the ultimate organized tech so set up and tear down is at a minimum. My clients often help me to or from the car, but not because I ask.... hint: only work with kind people unless money dictates, and yes I know we’ve all been there. Fortunately I have been able to whittle it down to accommodate both sets of people’s needs. I enjoy the time with my CHOSEN clients now, but yes it takes time to get to that comfy place.
@linderyoung48313 жыл бұрын
since you are not paying rent, Are you charging the same as if you were in a salon?
@Tandyhn3 жыл бұрын
Yes, however I find that the tips are better than when I was in a shop. Because I can do several at once with how I have it set up, it negates the up charge for travel. The ones I do individually, instead of in a group, do have a slightly higher rate. I incentivize my clients who are all in the same “friend group” by keeping the standard rate if we can coordinate booking all at one house. Obviously COVID changed this rhythm a bit, but funny enough, most friend groups are around each other enough they don’t seem to feel threatened about catching COVID like strangers to one another in a shop setting are...

I filled in for a friend who tried to offer mobile services for destination wedding bridal parties. It was awful. The amount of product and nail stuff needed for travel was ridiculous and then carrying up and down vacation condo/homes steps in the snow was a massive pain. Also, the services took longer than if they were in my nail shop and so it was a super long day. Usually they are having cocktails and food and so things just aren’t moving along as steadily as they would be if they had all come to the nail shop. And, I did feel like the client/bride felt like this was such an awesome opportunity for me when in reality I could have just stayed in my nail shop and been booked solid. On the other hand, going to a clients home to help trim their toenails after surgery is absolutely a service I am willing to provide, sometimes even for free if they have been a long term client. Net-net it was not a win for me...

I am just starting in the nail industry and I think if you go mobile, the best route is to invest in a mobile vehicle One that is big enough to store your all the product you need and has the look, feel and comfort of a stand alone salon. Therefore you wouldn't have to be out of your comfort zone and this keeps you from having that awkward moment with impractical clients.....I know an R.V. type of vehicle is a big investment, but remember it's an investment. @@Supernova1015 I was thinking more along the lines of taking your mobile salon directly to the clients home....park in the driveway or on the street....therefore the nail tech has the convenience of having a proper work station and the client has the convenience of a mobile salon that come to them. It's funny because I actually offer dry pedicure services in the bed for clients that find that more comfortable😅. I feel through my experience people are haply to pay the extra fee for travel and not only a travel fee but also just like she said people have life happening around you. As your doing your thing so a convenience fee shouldbe taken into account. I just say build it into your services price point. And keep your service menu simple.

Yes, this is hard work but I love it but I only have a year and 3 months to do this because by then I will be 50 years old and husband says no more at 50 because it’s a lot. Hey Loves.... I'm sorry I'm just seeing this. I've been very busy. Yes, I charge $70 for a 1hr pedi and if you're mileage is over 25 miles round trip then it's an extra charge. Take your time and do what's best for you and what works for you. I have found that clients wants us to be comfortable and they are willing to help also. Like they have rules for their house, you have rules for your mobile business. For example, one thing I find out before I go to a client's house is if they have a house dog. I like dogs just like everyone else but I'm there for business of pedicures, it is not time to play with the dog so I ask them to make sure that the dog is put away so I can work be productive and be done in a timely manner because I have other clients homes to go to. I hope this helps a little bit and if you have any more questions please do not hesitate. I will pay better attention to my messages. Have a wonderful day!!!! 💕💞

I think the time coming and going you loose so much time. If it is like a nail party where you do a number of people that might be an idea. This is something I never thought about. Great topic. I think it would be a night mare. Not for me. Thank you for sharing this information. All the things you point out that you would need. No not for me. Thank you again.

Not worth it in my opinion.. time, gas, parking fines, etc..

I do mobile service. I love it. Because, I no longer have to pay booth rent or commission everything I make is my own. I definitely bring everything except chairs. I did have to stop doing acrylic because of the smell and travel.

I live in s small town where booths rentals are expensive. I went mobile a few months ago to build my clientele. clients will bring me in for a day and their friends and family will come and get their nails done while I’m there. So far it’s really working out. However, some clients are a huge pain. I had one that wanted to lay on the couch and rock a baby while I worked on her. Not to mention she would start cooking and doing all kinds of stuff and asked for breaks to do chores. I don’t work that way so I have terminated at least 3 clients because of that. As soon as I can I’m renting a booth.

How did this video get 98 views in the 8 minutes it's been available?
@TheBeautyBusNYC3 жыл бұрын
🤔 ... it's called a fan base. Everyone gets a notification.

I believe KZbin counts a “view” as anyone who clicks on the video. Regardless if they watch the whole thing or not! So that’s just 98 people clicking on the video in 8 minutes not 98 people finishing the video. 🤷♀️😂

@@TheBeautyBusNYC yeah, subscribers get a notification, that doesn't increase views.

@@MrXallie I didn't realize youtube counted a view that way. It's impossible for 98 people to have watched the video in the time it was available.....
