This is the most convincing thing for genie+ for me. $30 for my husband and I to skip lines and not feel like we’re wasting time snacking or shopping. It opens up a lot of free time to enjoy the ambiance of the park. I think it’ll be worth it for us, but maybe not for a bigger family. I’m excited to try it.

@Hot Toymania Oh yeah I liked original fastpass but I absolutely HATED FP+. The system was made so only people who knew how to truly exploit it could navigate it. Internet issue at the second clock hits midnight and five seconds late start? No FP to good attractions for you. Also the tiered thing where every good ride was in one tier in MGM was the worst. Genie+ is much preferred to FP+ because at least I feel like I have a shot. But original Fast Pass is king. I'm really glad FP+ is dead.

It just seems like the Universal Studios pass is much better. Yes it’s a bit more expensive but it’s no fuss. You can ride all the rides you want, as much as you want, when you want to do so.

Yup, I was helping a friend of mine plan her family trip last week. They are a family of 3 and wanting to travel in January. I popped the same dates into Hard Rock hotel (a Universal premier resort where the fast passes are included) and Art of Animation (a Disney value resort). For a 5 night stay and 4 park days Hard Rock was $983 and Art of Animation was $1,706. Same dates, same number of people.

OK, so for future videos of this type: 1) The Genie+ person /should/ be able to do other attractions on the checklist while waiting for their next ride. This feels like a more authentic replication of what you're trying to prove here. 2) DEF want to see the rest of the series though! Genie+ is infinitely intriguing and want to see y'all break the system on these. Also, tin foil hat speculation: Space Mountain being the second Fancy Ride (tm) in Magic Kingdom is just a placeholder for when the TRON ride goes live later this year/early 2022. It makes a LOT of sense that it will be high demand once the ride opens for service and they wanted to have that second offering ready to go for when it opens up.

Space Mountain is definitely a placeholder for Tron. I was honestly pretty surprised when I say it was a Fancy Ride considering it’s waits can be comparable to the other mountains, particularly in summer with Splash.

@@brianrhester well it was an hour and a half wait for Peter pan alone, which normally someone would not get in line for if it posted an 80 minute wait. So the results are scewed both ways.

The thing is in the real world noone would just use genie plus, they would also be using the free genie, the tip boards the wait times etc and filling time between genie plus bookings with other rides. We can't rope drop as one of our party struggles with large crushed up crowds so we are going to try for the DAS pass which is a whole other ball game lol. But would be interested to see alternative plans for no genie and no rope drop. We were thinking get in just after the rush so 30 mins to 1 hr after opening, do some shorter wait rides, enjoy the atmosphere maybe the odd snack and leave about 1-2pm for a break. Then come back later to do the evening, especially for MK, how much do waits drop later on? Plus as we are from the UK we are there for longer than most US visitors so can do more than one day at each park so would it be useful to do fireworks one night (for those of us that can manage the crowd) then come back another and do rides whilst everyone else is waiting for and watching the fireworks.

We usually rope drop either Peter Pan or Jungle Cruise. (both have notoriously slow loading/unloading) Most times we skip Seven Dwarves and we'd never pay per ride for Space Mountain. I don't see Genie ➕ being worth it in MK if you pre-plan your day well. Yeah, never get into a 60 minute wait for Peter Pan or Any ride for that matter. But we also Always Rope Drop and typically stay on property. We eat lunch early (before 11:30) and then after lunch we watch the shows and browse the stores. Then go back to rides later in the afternoon when most of them drop in waits. We're also there from when they open until they close too. We also Always ride one of the "E-Ticket" rides right before they close, usually Space or Splash Mountain (depending on what we didn't hit earlier). We've used Touring Plans for years and standard Genie is basically just that, though clearly more buggy. 🐛 Honestly the only time I can see Genie ➕ being a value is during holidays and the pay per ride for ROTR.

Yeah Molly said in that hour long video that it's like the old paper fast passes they used to use, so they just give you a return time. It doesn't matter if you're alone or a party of 8, it all works the same.

I was at Magic Kingdom on this day as well. I paid the fancy ride fee for Mine Train and it was worth it, since we did not arrive until the afternoon. Thunder was only a 35min and Haunted 45min, so I did get to ride most of what I wanted with only paying for a fancy ride. P. S. thanks allears for my 2 seconds of fame. I didn't notice Quincy, but my boyfriend and I were shown getting in the Big Thunder line when she was filming.

In case of space mountain, it would be better to do the regular 20min line and, later in the day, if you want to ride it again and the wait time are big, you could use the Fancy Ride money grabber option.

It looks like the Genie app and it’s tip board can really help people make the most of their day if they don’t get Genie+. The only issue I have with this experiment is a person who gets Genie+ won’t actually hold themselves to do rides only using LL (just as most didn’t with FP). But this video is super helpful and informative.

@@erindoherty6592 Seems like the same strategies for FP apply to Genie+, and that, frankly, shouldn’t surprise anyone. By not letting people use LL more than once on the same attraction, it seems to avoid the issue of inflating standby wait times as much as seen during FP+ era, too. The benefits of Genie got totally overshadowed by all the noise over Genie+.

We just got home yesterday, added Genie+ for the whole trip as we were doing 4 parks in 3 days. Was fabulous for HS & MK; not really needed for Epcot as the crowds were really low and the weather bad (tornado watch). For our HS day, we stacked three (!!) LL at one time for the entire afternoon into evening until we ran out of rides to use it on. We hopped to Epcot for Harmonious so didn't try to use it when we got there. To stack, at 7am we booked a Slinky Dog for 4pm. At 11am when we could snag another LL, we snagged a Millennium Falcon for 4:45pm. We filled the morning with rides that had low waits. At 1pm, we were able to get a third LL reservation - and that's when we started stacking three at a time. Grabbed Muppet Vision for 2:30 as we were just sitting down to lunch. As we scanned in for Muppets, we grabbed Toy Story Mania. Used Mania, grabbed Alien Saucers. Used Alien Saucers, grabbed Rock n Roller Coaster. used Slinky Dog, grabbed Star Tours. Used that, grabbed Tower or Terror. Used, grabbed, used, grabbed. One ride to the next as all three ride times overlapped for the early evening. We eventually ran out of rides to use it on. We didn't get on Rise before hopping to Epcot as it was down on & off all day and never on when we had time. The next day was MK & AK; we used it all morning, with two stacked at a time, until we hopped to AK at 4pm, where we used it for Na'vi and Safaris. Everest was a walk on, as was Flight of Passage. We WALKED onto Flight of Passage. NO wait!!! Incredible. We could've easily done a couple more Genie+ rides but we wanted to head back to MK to get dinner and a spot for fireworks. Our Epcot day started with a boarding group 21 for Remy - which was called at 10:30am. Ride stopped for about 5 minutes, so we got to ride again immediately for our inconvenience. At 7am we got a 10:45 Test Track, which was closed for weather during our time so we got the pass to go back whenever we wanted. Hit every LL after that and rode every LL ride (except Frozen, as we were not paying for that). Gave us the afternoon to eat & drink our way around the world in-between the downpours until we hopped to HS for the animation show & Oga's reservation. We could have done a couple more LL at HS but the family wanted to do Star Tours over & over to see the different components. I would most certainly get the Genie+ again. It was a huge time saver for HS - if we had park hopped into HS for the afternoon we would have been able to ride every ride (but Rise) with no problems, using the stacking technique. That would have allowed us to sleep in, or have a resort morning in the pool, or even go to Disney Springs then go to HS later. It wasn't worth it for Epcot or AK - but the parks were slow at those times. If it was busier, then it would have been more worth it.

I know Quincy said she didn't have to be there at rope drop, but is that really correct? If you enter at 11 am or 12 noon, you can't book all the LL rides since you have to keep waiting to find one with a time near the current time, and the rides will "sell out" of LL passes. I'd like to see a LL challenge when you enter the park later, such as if your group has people who want to sleep in.

I thought the same thing. BUT, the video does show that use of the regular Genie app can help you manage your day effectively without LL. But yes, if Quincy had done some standbys with half hour waits instead of waiting for LL on everything, she would have probably gotten it done quicker.

Than you for this experiment! I’m anxious to see this in other parks. I’d also love to see Molly do a 100% Genie recommended day. Mostly to see how much she can accomplish but also to see her do things she wouldn’t do. 😅 Maybe even a “scavenger hunt-esque” Who can get the most done in a day via Genie recommendations? That could be fun.

It will be interesting to see the wait times when the boarders open and international guests are visiting the parks too. I'm guessing Disney is going to be very busy for the next few years x
