Molly, your timing couldn't be better! I am leaving in a week to check one off my bucket list...Disneyland. I have been to WDW too many times to count but have never had the chance to go to DL! I have wanted to go my entire life but noticed as the time draws near that I had a lot of anxiety in addition to my excitement. I had so many questions that I wasn't finding answers to about Lightning Lane and not having a magic band, and countless other things. Half an hour with Molly, anxiety is gone, I feel so much more well informed, and my excitement is through the roof!! I ALWAYS enjoy all your videos and appreciate your content, but this has helped me in ways I can not describe. Thank you so much for easing my mind! Omg- editors, the “nice segue “ with the Segway - too good! 🤣. Guardians is the bomb - never thought I’d like it more than TOT, but I do 🙌🏻 For those interested in a comparison video (2 people do same rides one with and one w/out Genie + and I.L.L - I.e. “fancy rides” that is similar to what Molly & Quincy did at WDW), but specifically for DL, check out either Adventures in Design or Theme Park Obsessions. They did it together over like a 12 hour period and beak it down by eventual cost per ride and minutes spent waiting.

My home park is Disneyland so it's so much fun seeing these Disneyland videos! Can't wait for the how to have the best day videos! DCA is pretty easy to do in one day and because my family has littles (we don't usually go on Guardians or the rollercoaster or the more amusement park ones like the Inside Out) we complete DCA in half a day sometimes.

Oh also as a frequent Disneyland visitor I highly recommend single rider for Racers, Matterhorn, and Falcon. The other single rider lines are ok but those ones are almost always a great bet

Splash used to have a second spot to scan in back with fast passes. Probably the same reason they do it in DW, both lines are right next to each other.

You will have to come back in the summer during busy season to do another genie plus experiment. I'm sure it will be very different then.

I’d say it’s only worth it for the fancy rides and Guardians because that one is ALWAYS long. But even then, on a Sunday my party only waited 23 minutes to get on the NEW Spider-Man ride. (The posted time was 45mins) 😒 I noticed they push the wait times higher than they usually are so people are motivated to buy Genie+ 😫 We are annual pass holders and see this often but guardians is usually the longest and obviously the fancy rides. I’d suggest people get it when it’s summer or Christmas time because right now, it’s not that busy to need it. Unless you want to walk right on certain rides.

agree BUT if you only visit a park once a year, 20-30 mins per ride x 7-8 rides ??? 2+ hours on lines. I swear I walked in the Frozen entrance and I walked directly onto the boat. So worth it to me.

Sounds like the day you went wasn’t typical. Even on supposedly slow days a couple weeks ago the lines were very long and Space Mountain for example takes forever because it feels like a 99 to 1 ratio of lightning lane to standby 😂

As a first time visitor to Disneyland/DCA we did the Genie+ for one day and park hopped. It was 100% worth it. We did so much that day! This is how the passes should work! It really was the happiest place on earth that day for us!

Just missed you by s couple of days. We were in DCA today and you are correct as locals we never purchase G+. Today we arrived at 4pm and between 7:10 and 8pm(closing) we went on Incredacoaster, Radiator and Gaurdians.

i am a local and I use the genie plus. We like to ride all of the rides every time we go. We usually go on the weekends (once a month) and it is a bit more crowded then. Without the genie plus we would not be able to ride as many rides in both parks. We always park hop. We are going to WDW in March for the 1st time and it will be interesting to compare. I also like you get the photo pass. Can't have too many pictures!! Soaring usually has a long wait at DCA.

Soarin’ is always crazy long! We had to skip it this trip unfortunately. :( I miss the old FastPass system! I do feel like Molly did a great job of explaining this new Genie situation though. I am considering it for our next visit.

I'm not sure if this is a recent change, but I just purchased a disneyland ticket with genie plus included for a future date. So you can purchase it before hand now, but you can't book any until you are on property as Molly stated.

I loved MaxPass in Disneyland, it was the best because you didn't have to plan 2 months ahead but could still skip the lines and do it pretty much on the go without running back and forth across the parks. It seems like Genie+ is working pretty much the same except for the Fancy Rides just twice the cost as it used to be for MaxPass.

Another difference is that.. with the Max Pass, we were able to book the same attraction more than once if it's available. With the Lightning Lane / Genie + you can only book a ride once.

If I have a lunch reservation and I’m not planning to parkhop until 2pm or 3pm, can I put that into the Genie system so that once I’m in the park I can book a lightening lane for the other park at that time? (Similar to what you did for Indy but at 2pm or 3pm, not 1pm)

Hello! I was just there with a similar setup 2 different households but one group of 7. You can upload everyone’s tickets into both families apps! And then either you or your sister could log into your personal app and select all or some of your group for each lightening lane

here is a first-hand report; last Thursday 1/20/22, my granddaughter, mom and I went to Epcot at WDW in Florida and bought Genie+ for $15 each and it was WORTH EVERY PENNY. We had been on Frozen about 6x before and never had less than a 30-40 minute wait. WE WALKED ON Frozen non-stop (no extra "Fancy Ride" TM cost.) At that moment it payed for itself . . .(gave up the equivalent of three giant specialty coffees and well worth it!) We also walked past at least 50 guests waiting for The Land (boat ride), Under The Sea, Spaceship Earth and Soaring. So IMHO, if you are visiting only once a year, it is worth the $15. It saved us about 3 hours of waiting on line (stand by.) . Comment below says "only 20 minutes" but that was for ONE RIDE. Multiply that time by 4 or 5; simple math.

Thanks for this, I live internationally so I have only ever experienced the parks vicariously through these videos (thanks molly). Having watched the videos from the perspective of someone who would be visiting the parks as a once in a lifetime trip I definitely would spend the money. I figured it was a no brained in MK and HS but was on the fence about Epcot and AK. I’m not planning a trip but it’s certainly helpful to know it was useful in Epcot too!

As someone who started visiting Disneyland in 1956, it saddens me that it has been so complicated. Instead of enjoying the attractions and scenery, I'd have to be glued to my phone making reservations. This is why we used to visit Disneyland many times each year, and haven't been there since before the pandemic.

Hi! Not that you asked but I’d honestly recommend choosing a hotel not owned by Disney for a Disneyland trip because they don’t have the same range/quality of resorts as Disney world. The 3 options in my opinion are just not super impressive and many of the hotels nearby offer shuttle service to and from the parks but even then so many of them are so close you could walk anywhere between 5-15 minutes to get to the parks as well!

Sheraton park Element Anaheim resort Hyatt regency Marriot Anaheim and suites All hotels we stayed at for Disney trips and had an amazing time!! Also for the next trips we’re taking in may and September we’re stepping a notch down in terms of luxury and staying at the Tropicana inn because it is literally across the street from Disneyland and still has awesome reviews and looks very clean and safe to us. It’s just not a huge hotel vibe! The Marriott hotel had a Starbucks downstairs that was never very busy when we woke up to get ready for the parks so we were able to get coffee and breakfast quickly to be able to focus on rides when we got to the parks The Hyatt had a breakfast restaurant with Mickey shaped waffles that we enjoyed a couple times on our trip and again not as crowded as trying to get them inside the Disney property! (Also had a Starbucks kiosk but the lines were massive, I had my boyfriend wait in line while I ordered food) Hope you have a great trip!!

May be a dumb question, but if you have multiple people in your party and some don't have phones to scan (i.e. young kids) does it give you separate barcodes to scan or does scanning it once work for your entire party?

As long as you book it for everyone, you'll be given all the barcodes for the party. And you just swipe through them and scan each one. It's easy! :)

If you are going to Disneyland for a whole week, I’d say it’s not necessary. You can usually do both DLR & DCA in one or two days! April is not a peak month either, the weather is beautiful and the crowds are fairly light. You’ll love it, enjoy!

I’m still working on mastering Disney world (which is why I’m going again 10mo from my last trip) but this was a nice little break seeing what’s on the other side AND HOW EASY IT IS (but what’s the fun in that LOL, addicted to the challenge now 😅). However, it’s good to know for when I do decide to change it up from world to land (probably next year….when everything will be completely different and I’ll need a whole new set of videos lol).
