I think Warhorse were incredibly brave with their approach to KCD. It starts off as being one of the most frustrating and irritating game experiences and finishes as one of the most rewarding and satisfying. All thanks to the learning curve.

It's not so much YOUR learning curve, it's Henry's =P

I'd say you should play the first in this purely because of how story/character driven the game is. Since the 2nd game begins with the end of the first, there's so much narrative background, I think just jumping into the sequel will make Hal's relationships with returning characters confusing.

You must have patience and the right mindset when approaching this game because it's a slow burn. It's not for everyone, but a wonderful experience, and should be wicked cheap atm.

It's because of the slow burn that makes this almost a one of a kind experience. You learn the game's mechanics and get better as Henry's skills improve. There are other RPGs that do this, but I haven't played any that were to this extreme, and I loved it all the more for it.

The answer to the question of should you play kcd is always yes
@Mystra16 күн бұрын
Why not but if they feel like KC1 is too tedious, I did hear the second one is abit easier. But on the other hand playing the first one will make you better at the second I'm sure. And you'll understand Henry better :)

Id say yes. For one its one of the best RPGs of the last 10 years. Yes it's got jank but ohhhh boy does it have heart. Being shit at bow and arrow and having to mark my TV with a piece of tape so I had some crosshairs until I got skilled amd leveled up the I was one shotting knights? Fuck yeah!

Yes, I think you should, if you have the money. Or watch play through, but playing it is very different, compared to watching.

Consider the first game ending is a little bit of a cliffhanger and you should learn to know Hans too before KCD2. But I bet there will be allot of story recap videos here on KZbin to watch. But you're better off with playing through the first game to understand the story.

I guess it depends on the person but in my opinion playing a long game like KCD right now would be detrimental to enjoying the sequel if you plan to play them back to back. Fatigue of the gameplay loop might kick in by the time you reach sequel, and while speed running the main story is an option your Henry will be undeveloped and weak which will surely lead to some frustrations

I've tried real hard to play KCD on PC but no matter what settings or mods it always jumps from 25 to 60 all the time.

I played it the year it came out and really enjoyed it. Was my favorite game that year besides RDR2. That said, I don’t think I have it in me to replay before the sequel because the beginning is such a slog. Now, that is great in the first play through as it’s really immersive and makes sense narratively, but I just started the Witcher 3 again and I can’t trade that for KCD 1 right now.

If the combat wasnt absolutely horrid to do I would of played it ten times over. The sexond game isnt looking any different sadly so yeah.

You just don't understand who you are playing. Henry doesn't know how to even hold a sword. So you obviously don't have much to work with from day one. TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN. If all you want to do is smash buttons then play The Witcher or Wack-A-Mole.

I tried KCD, and it was the worst experience in my 30 years of gaming. I never played a more clunky, janky, frustrating, boring game in my life. Definitely not for me.
