I might be wrong but I took at look at the planetside 2 fisu website and took a look at the population graph of Emerald over time and just before the population explosion in 2020 the 2019 population was actually sitting at just about the population it is at right now, maybe ever so slightly higher. After the 2020 population explosion it stood high for nearly 3 years before decreasing. That's my copium anyway, that the population in 2019 was not much different from now. It will still stay put for a long time. The devs have said the connery-emerald merge is coming SoonTM. It has not even hit maintenance mode yet aka no updates. There is a slight risk it could just disappear for whatever reason, but I can't see it happening. To end off my copium ridden message I hope planetside will be hit with a surprise of a population explosion or revival/renaissance of some kind, how I don't know... but man this game is so unique it deserves so much better. I wish they did iterative design to map bases and game balance. In my opinion this game was handled wrong. Now I fear they are trying to squeeze out a few updates for hype purposes before cashing out.

covid mostly spiked that and yeah 2019 had similar playcounts but they were more balanced (the pre-connery > emerald exodus) and less bullshit (bastions, outfit OS, new tank guns) was in the game

Yeah last year was probably last time that i did play PS2. I hate that there is so few players that you have to play in players peak time. And even then, its not that much ppl as it was years before. In 23/24 I had probably 4 gaming scenes when there was enought ppl that i could choose from 3+ battlefields and those werent stuck at one place. But most of the time it was, all 3 factions were stuck on one battlefield and no other options to choose good fight.

Yeah the problems of the game become extremely apparent when pop is low. Always has been, but now since the pop is almost always low the game becomes tedious to play 90% of the time.

I haven't played in a bit, but take one of those construction vehicles out and harvest the ore, and you will be level 20 quick.

If another company made a proper successor to PlanetSide 1, it would be the most popular game of all time. That will never happen though in this modern world of worthless kernel level anti-cheat and micro-transactions. PlanetSide 2 was never all that good because it was a watered down experience from the beginning (literally the only positive thing was the improved flight system), if they would have done it the right way it would have been unbeatable, that is the real tragedy.

I literally played this on opening day and for like 2 years from then. I dropped it. I literally came back 5 days ago and man it is totally different. And I will say this game is boring when not on prime time.

no u shouldnt balance issues lack of them carrying anymore about the community and vanu is always over populated on pc just play console since it never got the shitty updates i played both and ps4 increased in pop for us and pc went down also on pc light assault aka fastest infantry love there op shotgun and assault rifle combo
