Should you race on winter tires in your Explorer

Last race of the season, we're hoping to beat the world record on stock turbo, but for that we wanted to try something different, throw on the winter tires and see what it can do.
Next season, we have big plans, and the over the winter we have some things planned for the explorer. So the build is not over, its just on hold for a couple weeks as we finish up some other projects before getting going full bore on the winter enhancements.

There's a lot to be said for less rotational mass, lighter weight and enough torque to take advantage. You also need to factor in tire height too. Higher aspect ratios can negate the switch to smaller rims and there goes the advantage. Then the question is where you make the best power in your engines rev range and with your gearing. And can you keep it there. So, check your dyno sheets, watch your tach, listen for tire spin and go for it!

I think the big issue is the fact that the winter tires weren't good enough. I would imagine the same whee with Nitto 555 tires would not have spun. I have something already for next year.

I am guessing a little less traction, but less rotation mass.
