Ebay was very, very good to me at silver's peak in 2011. I had built up my great feedback with pottery, cookbooks, old postcards, and barrister bookcases. I got lucky being in the right place at the right time with the right strategy. I purged my unwanted metals, josten's 10k, broken 14k, etc. You wouldn't believe what my 10oz Engelhard bar brought. Every auction started at 99cents. Flawless transactions with paypal. Terrific feedback. Nowadays, I'd only consider trading my SAE proofs/coas for fiat to buy gold. I'm 23 years into my 30 year plan. Avoid auction houses! Buyers are professional and will work out the auction overheads prior to bidding, which, infact will be deducted from your price! Let's call it, a hidden tax, a bit like inflation 👍

Anyone can make a 'profit' on silver if you bought them when we were in the EU. Unless you've found a really rare coin of historical importance, the seller tends to pay commission plus vat for both ends when it comes to auctions, However, if you've networked as you stacked and included an auction house in your relationships, as I have, the auction house will know what you're after and let you know. It really a no brainer, you turn up price agreed and walk away no commission and no vat on the commission.

It most likely depends on how much you spent and how much people bid on the item it's probably a small margin of being able to make profit from Ebay after shipping cost and what Ebay takes out for listing the items

TSF market is a superb place to trade. I've had no issues. Due to one issue in the past, members are wary of new traders. You may need someone to vouch for you first. Being a paid member is an advantage (fees are very modest).

It's really hard work to make a profit from ebay with the fees, you need to be selling in bulk to make any profit, I've been hit with a few people cancelling their orders after the close of bidding, I will be trying out an auction house for my premium pieces and setting a reserve price.

I’ve been scammed by buyers on eBay selling collectibles and auto parts. eBay sided with the buyer every time. No way I would sell bullion or coins on the platform

@@stephenyoung8429 I’ve had them claim what they got was not what i advertised or that then never got it even though i had tracking they signed a different name and didn’t know who must have gotten it but it wasn’t them. Both times eBay sided with them and I was out the items and the money. And to rub salt in the wound, I had to contact eBay to even get eBay to refund me the fees they charged me on the sale.

@@stephenyoung8429 I’ll try to explain it again. Apparently they didn’t like me saying the buyers claimed that what I sent wasn’t what they won. eBay didn’t make them return it. And two that even though I had tracking with a signature they claimed they didn’t get it and it wasn’t there signature. Both times eBay sided with the buyer and I had to contact eBay to just to get back the fees. I was out the items, money for items and the shipping. I won’t sell on eBay anymore

What protects does TSF offer to sellers and buyers? If someone claims they didn’t receive my bullion, do I have any insurance as a seller? And if someone sells me Chinese silver (fake silver) on TSF, will I be guaranteed a refund?

No, not at all. What protects you is the reputation of the seller. Deal with trusted members and you will be just fine. Take risks and you open yourself up to risk.

Have been put off from buying from the silver forum due to issue a few months back where someone got ripped off and a fund was put together by members to help out the victim. More recently I see there’s been another issue regarding a silver / sovereign swap 😢

Look it at it another way. The members made a fund for the victim. Would you get such a fund from someone like eBay that often wrongly back up a scam buyer? You're always going to get scammers where money is involved.

I find eBay a good place for buying silver. Just check the feedback and look for genuine photo's and not generic catalogue copies. If you select to watch the item quite often the seller will send a private offer. Money back guarantee is there for piece of mind. I've noticed the Tudor Beasts Dragon has been released but only in proof. Does anyone know if a 2oz bullion will follow?

Dont be put off by stock images they bring higher traffic and they look more professional. I am always happy to send actual photo over messages.

@@aligator651 I'd personally rather see the actual coin. The first Eagle I bought from eBay was a stock photo, also the first Krugerrand. Both were fakes. I just go on what I have experienced. Not had an issue since. Most are easy to dismiss as they're from China and listed at lower than Silver spot price.

@@GL_1975 I get it but I am just talking from my experience. I dont understand how Ebay is letting those cheap Chinese fakes on their platform clearly labelled as 999 solid silver etc. I have reported just today over 20 listings all of them got rejected.

I would avoid the auctions. You have to pay the company for selling your product. Unless it an extremely RARE sout after coin then yes! Probly the best way to find buyers for something that's worth over 100K.
