We co-slept with all 8 of our children. Not one died or was even injured. We sometimes had three children in the bed at the same time. For the younger children, I did devise the crib to be beside the bed. I took the side off, used ratchet straps to make sure the crib did not move. Our bed and the crib mattress were the same height with no way for baby to fall through. I think a co-sleeper crib is the best way to go.

We slept with all of our 7 babies and sometimes a toddler or 2. How I miss those days of snuggles!

Interesting you mentioned the study about co-sleeping being worse - but there are lots of recent studies to suggest that putting a baby in a cot in a different room has about the same risks, if not slightly higher, of SIDS as co-sleeping. External factors do affect both in similar ways too. The best and most given recommendation is to have baby in a cot/bassinette in the same room as the parents for the first 6 months of life - and to practice SAFE co-sleeping IF parents are exhausted.

This is great news. I co slept with my now 27 year old daughter for 7 1/2 -8months. I put her to sleep in her crib around that time to sleep train her. During the day she took both morning and afternoon naps in her crib since she was a month old.

No mention of putting baby into a little 'pod' (woven or otherwise) to protect them in the bed with you?
