There are many reasons why you might be considering reenlistment, from a sense of pride in your service and job security in a challenging job market, to opportunities for career advancement and specialized training. Whatever your reasons may be, it's important to carefully weigh the pros and cons of reenlisting to make the best decision for your personal and professional goals.
So, let's take a closer look at some of the factors you should consider when deciding whether to reenlist in the Marine Corps or not..
Reasons TO reenlist:
* Sense of pride: If you've served in the Marines, you know that it's a special branch of the military with a long and storied history. Reenlisting could be a way to continue being a part of that tradition and to take pride in your service to your country.
* Job security: With the economy still recovering from the pandemic and job markets being competitive, reenlisting in the Marines could provide you with job security, benefits, and a steady paycheck.
* Advancement opportunities: Reenlisting can also provide opportunities for career advancement and increased pay, especially if you're committed to staying in the Marines long-term.
* Camaraderie and Brotherhood/Sisterhood: Being a Marine can provide a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood/sisterhood that is difficult to find in other professions. You become part of a team that is dedicated to serving a greater purpose, and many Marines forge lifelong friendships amongst each other.
* Education and Training: The Marines provides access to advanced education and training opportunities that can help you further your career both in and outside the military. Many Marines use their education benefits to earn advanced degrees, certifications, and technical training.
* Travel and Adventure: The military can provide the opportunity to travel to new places and experience different cultures. Whether it's serving in a foreign country or participating in training exercises around the world, the military offers unique opportunities to explore new places and gain valuable life experiences.
Reasons NOT to reenlist:
* Personal goals: If you have personal goals that don't align with continued military service, like pursuing a civilian career, going back to school, or starting a family, reenlisting might not be the best choice.
* Burnout: Serving in the military can be demanding both physically and mentally. If you're feeling burned out or exhausted from your time in service, it might be time to take a break and consider other options.
* Poor leadership: If you've had negative experiences with leadership during your time in the Marines, like ineffective communication, lack of support, or toxic leadership styles, it might make you hesitant to reenlist.
* Deployment: Reenlisting means committing to additional tours of duty and the possibility of deployment. If you've already been deployed or if you're not comfortable with the idea of being deployed, reenlisting might not be the best choice for you
* Lack of career advancement: If you feel like there's no room for growth in your current role or you've hit a career ceiling, it might not make sense to reenlist.
* Poor work-life balance: If your current role in the Marines is demanding and leaves you with little time for your personal life, it might not be sustainable to continue with reenlistment. This could be due to long hours, frequent deployments, or a lack of support for work-life balance from your leadership.
Before making a decision, take the time to assess your personal goals and values, as well as your current circumstances and needs. Think about where you see yourself in the short and long term, and whether continued service in the Marine Corps is aligned with those goals. It can also be helpful to talk to other Marines who have reenlisted, as well as those who have chosen not to, to get a sense of different perspectives and experiences.
Remember that reenlisting is a big commitment, both in terms of time and energy, and it's important to be fully informed and prepared before making a decision. Take advantage of resources like your chain of command, career counselors, and other support services to help you make the best choice for your situation.

Hey Marine. You nailed it on the leadership comment. You had it in 2011 and 2012 and almost EASd. Well, back in 1990, after 5 years (and I extended a year) goddammit, was so fed up I left. Didn't look back. I became an Airborne infantryman in the Army.

How true is it in 2023 that some high ranking USA Marines lose custody of their own child(ren) just for the sake of their USA rank & career?

So the Marines DO have age waivers man. I’ve seen up to 33 enlist. Just saying. As long as you meet the standard, you’re good to go 💪🏼

Problem when I was in the Marines was they had contract Corporals and contract Sergeants. That screwed everything up.

Not to get political but there's plenty of political reasons to/not reenlist if you think about it. Even if you love the Marine Corps, what would be the point of serving in an organization that's controlled by a commander in chief that you hate? Or vice versa of course. Some Marines got out simply because of how we pulled out of the middle east and didn't want to be part of the organization anymore. Or because of the mandatory covid vaccine. Politics definitely does have or frankly should pose a bearing on reenlisting or not and I think there's too many service members who don't even think about that.

Leaving without a plan is better than staying in and suffering. I'd rather live in the wood under a tree than reenlist. Did my time and will never do that shit again 😂

Hello My name is Christian, I am a high school dropout but not exactly by choice, my situation surrounding school was very complicated to say the least, unfortunately since the time I dropped out around 6 years ago now my situation at home and abroad has had me pushing myself to make ends meet, whilst also struggling to maintain some level of pride and fulfillment, not only in my work but my social life alike. Which has had me strapped for time and constantly underwhelmed purposefully speaking, due to these complications I've yet to obtain my G.E.D. either, but I have always aspired to join the armed forces specifically the Marine corps. Therefore I am curious, (Would I be capable of enlisting even without an official form of high school education?), or (Would there possibly be a program I could opt. into to earn my education during my time in service?). I am serious about this career and have been training physically on top of doing research for a few weeks now, as of the other night I've begun studying and practice testing for the A.S.V.A.B. over the internet, My simulated test scores (so far) don't seem too bad considering my educational history, and I believe with a few more weeks of diligent and committed studying I'll definitely be capable of passing it with a respectable score, anyway I'd love to have your insight and advice surrounding my situation and I hope we can peak about it soon. For now though, I myself am going to set an alarm and get a couple hours of shut eye, (I've been up late studying). Thank you for your service and I wish you a wonderful Sunday morning.

You have to get your GED and score a 50 on the Asvab. 31 for high school diploma. Idk why it's a 50 for people who have a GED. Good luck

Reading about something is a lot different than living it. Also, all these books on grammar out here and you still can’t even differentiate between “there”, “they’re”, and “their”. Not to mention the other grammatical errors you made. Hm, smells like ✨hypocrisy✨
